I think Tyler Joseph is such a talented front man and he has that audience eating out of his hand! His voice always sounds just as good live as it does recorded too. The man blows my mind. 🤯

I love how much you are picking up and commenting on, especially as a musician! Yes, Tyler is a fantastic vocalist. His transitions are effortless and his ability to stay in the pocket is unreal. And his screaming voice has so much emotion. He is self trained but you can tell how much he has worked on his vocal ability over the years. Both Tyler and Josh are self-taught musicians. So they have a unique style. And yes Josh’s energy on the drums is unreal! He intentionally added elements to his live performance style to engage the audience. I love his fills and how he just pounds on those drums like crazy 😹 In addition to the recommendations I left in my Holding Onto You comment, I bet you would really enjoy “Fall Away (featuring Dr Blum of MisterWives) Live.” Dr Blum is an amazing trumpeter and has been performing as part of the SAI Band on twenty one pilots’ recent tours for the new album, Scaled and Icy. But this video was from 2014 when MisterWives was opening for them. And Josh’s drumming style is so much fun to watch on the video! And yes, the twenty one pilots fan base (aka clique) are very dedicated and loyal 😉 But honestly watching someone experience these guys for the first time helps me remember how excited I was when I started the journey. At some point you will need to experience twenty one pilots live, there’s nothing quite like it, but in the meantime there’s a lot to explore and enjoy! We will gladly be your guides.

Oh and the black paint on Tyler’s neck and hands represents his insecurities, anxiety, and struggles with mental health issues - which he tackles in a lot of his music. He created the character Blurryface as a personification of those insecurities and struggles. And the paint represents almost a suffocating control that Blurryface has over the things he creates (throat: voice, hands: what he writes and performs). If you recall from Goner, one of the verses was: “I’ve got two faces Blurry’s the one I’m not I need your help to Take him out” Fairly Local and Stressed Out also describe Blurryface. (Fairly Local is one of my favorites!) And then you see Blurryface (hooded figure) in the video for Heavydirtysoul (another favorite!) - it’s the bridge between the Blurryface era and the Trench era. Trench took the concept of Blurryface and turned it into an entire narrative, aka “lore,” where Tyler created an elaborate world (Dema) from which he could dive deeper into the battle against the issues he was facing. Many consider Trench their best album. Stylistically it’s next level, especially when you see how much is connected across multiple albums. When you are ready to dive into the Trench Trilogy (Jumpsuit / Nico and the Niners / Levitate) we can walk you through the lore. It also explains how passionate many of the fans are, since Tyler is dealing with real issues in a way that is so genuine and relatable. The music has helped countless people. ||-//

It's paint on Tyler's hands and neck - it represents Blurryface Blurryface is their most commercially successful album and what made them famous worldwide - Blurryface is basically the personification of all Tyler's bad thoughts, insecurities, mental health issues, etc - he battles Blurryface throughout the album - he blacks out his hands and neck to help cover his insecurities in his music (writing and vocals) This performance was the tour right after Blurryface came out

If you didn't see them in sessions I hardly recommend you "the live room sessions" (Car radio, migraine..) and the recent MTV unplugged, you will see the evolution and the strong artistic roots they have!! Thank you for this reaction, for appeciate their artistic talent! Hugs from Buenos Aires!!

If you want to stay on the live kick. Do goner live from the fox theater. The screams are unexpected and gives you chills. Also if you want to see their growth, Do ode to sleep. TOP fans are here for it.

I get SO MUCH pleasure watching people who are new to TØP and like REALLY enjoy and appreciate how talented they are. I love Travis Barker and Josh Dun is definitely up there if not sliiiiightly above. You are right when you say ya gotta be careful when saying stuff but when it’s there, it’s there and there is no denying talent.

You're in for such a treat as you dive through TOP's music, it just keeps getting better - love the stuff you're picking up on, keep 'em comin! And just like Ty and Josh show up for their fans with every performance, we'll show up to watch your journey. Once you've done more of their work, you'll get a real kick out of comparing the originals to their recent mtv unplugged performance - musicianship abounds! Also, Ty's Storyteller Performance is astounding to watch. Welcome to the clique! 💙🤍💙

Great reaction and new subscriber. I was finally able to catch them live last month and can't wait to see them again. I also love the music video to this song, it has a powerful message. Also, if you think think they own the stage for this song check out what they do with their live performance with their song Trees. Awesome song but there's no Tyler scream, lol.

If you're liking these guys, I highly recommend listening to some of MuteMath's live stuff, especially off their Flesh and Bones: Electric Fun and Armistice Live albums. Darren King was amazing on the drums. MuteMath and TOP have also collaborated with the TOPxMM sessions, and Paul Meany of MuteMath is currently working with, helping produce, and playing music with TOP now.
