I think you're right about the demons in the background dancing - I think the meaning is Tyler holding onto his faith as the demons try to pull him down The last part with lean with it rock with it is a shot at the music industry making meaningless songs which he does a lot - especially in Vessel and Blurryface era As others have mentioned - their performance of this song is phenomenal

This is ONE of my favorites! Yes! This song is timeless and you will eventually have all of their songs on your playlist. We will not be upset if you now go to the live version (Fox Theatre) and react to that one as well. 😊 I actually prefer when you do the videos first and then go back and react to live versions. Tyler just has a way with words and makes you stop and think! I knew you would be great at breaking their songs down. Next!!

Loved your perspective. Dig how you see it. People have different interprets. Some fans have psychological translations, other fans religious translations. He does alot Christian God doubts fears guilt (and demons/spirits too). But still translatable nonreligiously and i dig how you see it. Myself had no religious upbringing so when i fell in love with TOP i ended up having to learn research stuff to understand his background and lyrics. Like when he says "flesh out the door" referring to our soul more important than physical flesh. And notice when singing line ""holding onto you" he's looking up (to God). YET YET YET also translatable psychologically and you did great 👍!! (Sorry if my comments are so long. Lots to say of TOP.) Love your reactions and really appreciate you diving down this rabbit hole 🙂🙃😉!!!

It’s so hard for me to pick a favorite song of theirs…but I think this one is it for me. It’s a perfect representation of what they do and what they’re about. It’s phenomenal live as well. There’s a really cool beyond the video thing available on this song. You should check it out to see what Tyler was thinking as they taped this! And…check out the deconstructed version he did on Sirius xm’s KZread channel. He talks about how he felt like it was maybe time to give up on music..but that he was working on this song and felt like he maybe had something… Boy did he ever!

I almost never listen to the radio cause most of that music just doesn't do it for me, it's just a beat to sing too but when I listen to my favorite music on Spotify I feel every word and every beat and it's just nice to have artists that can create this type of music is incredible and I'm so greatful! Killed it yet again. You will get tips about the big link to this with god but I really like how you, like I do, see how this can now linked in so many ways depending on your perspective. And it is true that this is about both mental depression issues & god which makes sense as so many of Tyler’s issues are rooted in his faith & questioning it. 2 things I wanted to comment on that you also touched on - that Faith (which is always given a religious note) can be anything to anyone, not just in religious context but any belief you have even to just have faith in yourself so entertain your faith can mean so much. The second is the kaleidoscope- as you mentioned -made of broken things that are twisted & turned -but in the end these twisted broken things make a beautiful image. Tyler encourages actively for people to be creative in any way they can. To put those broken pieces in and create beauty. - this I love! Holding on to you is the top song that has -to me- the most amount of individual lines that have so much meaning. Look forward to the next reaction 😁

Entertain my faith. The dancer is dancing around Tyler, while he sings entertain my faith. He is trying to persuade his dark thoughts to believe in him, Tyler the artist. Stop pulling me down, believe in me, share my faith in me. Let me succeed. Tyler wrote this song during a time when his former band-mates were starting to think their time in the band was up - real life responsibilities were calling. He was loosing faith in himself, but he had to push through and keep believing in himself, even while his inner voices were trying to bring him down. This is how I have cone to interpret the song. Ref: SiriusXM version of this song. Tyler talks about the journals he wrote back then. Listen to it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lnZhmrSGhdXggKQ.html

Oh something else i want to give you a heads up about so you don't get confused with future songs. His last three albums are concept albums. Talking hard core conceptual. But no worries we fans will fill you in on the concepts. But my advice is do those 3 albums in order to not tweak your 🧠 brain. (Cause it's an ongoing story with plot, characters, full on book). First album ""Blurryface"" and Blurryface is a character who is his alterego, his insecurities etc.. the bad guy in his head. Blurryface is represented by color red which symbolically appears in videos. So the character Blurryface bleeds through the songs in that album. (Then when you get to TRENCH album and then SCALED ICY album, they are full on detailed story albums about a dystopian city called Dema. Story rich with cryptic messages and much symbolism. Will explain story when that time comes. Don't want to overwhelm you long comments 🙂.) TOP is full on rabbit hole, a ride that some people take and some others just enjoy the music. Your choice. You don't have to get into the story lore. But it'll help you get the lyrics. Lovin your take on TOP and your energy and attitude. You entered my top5 reactor list 🙂!!

You keep mentioning these being early works, have you looked at the albums before Vessel? No Phun Intended, which was Tyler’s solo album he did in his moms basement is great, then Self Titled was the first as TOP is great, and Regional at Best which was the first with Josh Dun and Tyler is also very good. Tyler also has a handful of great original Christian worship songs he did with Whitaker that are terrific. Oh, also check out a song called “Cancer”. I can’t listen to the entire thing myself. I’ve had cancer and that song is rough. I am never in the mood to hear it. It is well done. Too well done. I just can’t.

Not every TOP song is better live. it's just not true. You'll be told they are. IMO that's just the skeleton clique getting off on pretending they are at the show, or they are living vicariously off the memories of a show they went to. Sorry the clique is amazingly awesome. They also kind of suck. Just like I do. Dichotomies everywhere.
