    Some folks with the 2021 TW200 have said they are having a hard time finding or getting the bike to shift into Neutral. I had the problem as well and this is how I fixed mine. Make sure the bike is COLD when making the adjustment! Good Luck and Thanks for watching!

    That's a quick and easy way to check clearance on the clutch......I didn't have any coins. The nickel is 2mm thick so two of them together would be awesome. Gonna go put some out in my toolbox now just so I can have them. I'd prefer that over the ruler, much quicker and easier.

    As more miles are put on the bike neutral will become easier to find. The lurching when going into first gear will also go away. That's just the new plates sticking together. All TWs have weak clutch springs as well. Shiming the stock springs or replacing with Barnett aftermarket makes a big difference. Fiddling with the clutch lever play won't help.

    Hey Tim! That is a good point as well. I had over 1,000 miles on the bike and this still helped. However, my 2019 was a little like that and after putting miles on it, it did help and the adjustment didn't make really any difference. I am thinking of adding a new clutch to both of them though just so I can get the clutch feeling the way I really want them to. I will have to check out the Barnett Clutch. Thanks for the insight!

    The video I didn't even know I needed! I noticed my TW on cold start would lurch forward in 1st gear even with the clutch pulled in. When the clutch warmed up it worked perfect. This makes sense now seeing this, I also noticed neutral was kinda finnicky to find. I'll adjust this tomorrow and see how it works. Thanks Matt!

    Mine was kinda driving me nuts so this is what fixed it. I hope it helps but make sure to adjust it when the bike is cold. Hotter clutch plates expand and will give you a false adjustment when they are adjusted hot. Hopefully this helps!

    Some have described the TW clutch as more like an on/off switch than a clutch as it engages far out from the grip and has a narrow friction zone compared to other dirt bikes. I installed an adjustable lever to bring the lever closer to the grip when the clutch is all the way out. It feels much better.

    When I brought home my new TW the actuator arm spring was not properly fitted on the tranny. There was no return tension in the spring. It made a huge difference Matt. Not too sure but looks like you should have a closer look at yours.

  • @MOBStreet83

    @MOBStreet83

    Great catch!! That is actually one of the very first checks I made when I noticed it was acting up. I even just went out again to make sure I didn't miss it. Both my 2019 and 2021 have return tension and the spring is sitting in the correct cutout on the case by the actuator arm. Still, I should have mentioned that in the video so thank you for bringing it up!

  • @Mascotal

    @Mascotal

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@MOBStreet83 Actually Matt, I think you may have overlooked a issue. The actuator spring sits in the notch at one end, BUT the other end of the spring should be hooked onto the actuator arm itself. In your video at 0:36 I can see the spring is not attached. Look under the actuator arm and you will see the other end of the spring. Use a screw driver to pull it out and hook it onto the actuator arm. This will increase the tension on the spring and your clutch will work much better.

  • @Mascotal

    @Mascotal

    @Brad Tilley Hi Brad, congrats on your new bike. I think the clutch spring issue is coming from the factory, and then overlooked by the dealers when they unload it from the crate. Let your local shop know about it and maybe tell them to issue a service bulletin.

    Hi Matt, So is the clutch release bearing in constant contact with the clutch? Based on 45 years of automotive clutch adjusting, I aimed for minimal clearance based on cable disconnected and "Feel" of the release arm. Didn't work. Your method most certainly does work but I would greatly appreciate your comments re the release bearing/plate clearance.

    Matt, thanks for the tutorial. It appears it may answer my problem - I adjusted the freeplay on my bike awhile ago, and I've been noticing that when I want to switch to N from 1st gear, it goes into 2nd gear insead, IOW, it bypasses N. So, am I understanding you correctly that I need to DECREASE the freeplay???????? Many thanks!

  • @MOBStreet83

    You bet, I hope this helps. It depends really......if it is too tight, then you clutch isn't fully engaging and the plates are slipping, if it is too loose then your clutch pack isn't fully expanding allowing the easier shift.

    Hello again Matt. I have a question. These TW’s are really low geared especially in 1st gear. Do you believe it would harm my clutch to start out in 2nd gear from a stop as long as you feather it out? I’ve done this a few times and it seems ok but I would like your opinion on this. Thanks and stay safe. James.

  • @MOBStreet83

    @MOBStreet83

    Hey James!! I know some people who do, but I don't since I am on the heavier side. I don't think it would hurt it as long as you aren't dragging it out a lot. Or, you could just drop to a 47 tooth sprocket and that might help eliminate that for you.

  • @jamescorth9930

    @jamescorth9930

    Ok I think I will give it a shot. It’s quicker getting through those stop lights doing 2nd gear starts. I like the gearing it has now and I ride on BLM too and the low gears are great. I know you had stated in one of your sessions that you went to 52 tooth on the rear on one of your TW’s and liked it and I’ve thought about that also. Probably could start out in second great then. 😂. Ok, thanks again for the info. Take care.

    Matt, i don't want to sound stupid (but I can't help it haha), but for the bottom adjustment near the transmission, which way is clockwise? The video shows the adjustment from the lateral edge. Is it clock wise if you were at the end of the cable staring back at it or if you are on the the cable staring at the transmission?

  • @MOBStreet83

    @MOBStreet83

    No worries!! From the angle of the camera, is you roll the adjustment nut up or rotate it towards the engine that is clockwise. If you roll is towards yourself or down that is counterclockwise........as I sit here making air adjustments just to make sure I am telling you correctly.
