☑️ Yeah, this isn't the most difficult song to play, but he played it better than the original IMO, and his set sounds f**king phenomenal! He's absolutely spot on with his timing, and he added creative new bits and pieces to the original drummer's recipe. I can't begin to imagine how much this entire set cost, although being THIS good, he's probably got merchandising contracts with the drum set and cymbal manufacturers, so he probably didn't have to foot the whole exorbitant bill..... ($12,000+ maybe)

Queensryche is such an under rated band. Operation Mindcrime is a masterpiece. Every song is amazing. The Empire album is great, the first EP was amazing, and Rage for Order was awesome. They deserve more accolades and respect. I wish they would reunite with the original members, go out on tour and do their first 4 releases. I would definitely want to see that!

All the drums are triggered. Cymbal sound is real though. You can hear the cymbals sound like they are in a different room than the drums and the cymbals are really quiet compared to the drums to hide/mask the real sound of the drums... Not that there is anything wrong with it... but just pointing it out since you mentioned the sound of the drums... your drums can sound like that too if you get Slate Trigger and figure out which samples he is using. Great drummer though and great cover of the song!

Scott never overplayed, never wasted a hit. He gave exactly what the song needed, and did it in a way that every non-drummer found themselves playing air-drums to. As Peart did, Scott was also a percussionist versus your vanilla 'drummer'. Scott always played his kit as a melodic instrument, which is why his inclusion in Rÿche was definitely in the recipe of their overall success. Oh, and you effing nailed this song bro. Enjoyed 10/10 will listen again. I hope you have more Rÿche on your channel. cuz I'm heading there now. Keep rocking \m/ \m/

Actually, they did show off. They proved that their signature style could fit into a radio-friendly format whilst still packing a punch. The way Rockenfield capitalizes and punctuates every aspect of the song is what makes this deceptively difficult. His beat & fill placement on OM & Empire is masterful and what made him stand out.

@@stvsmith1791 You obviously thought too shallow of my comment. And we don't call people the "Beethoven" of their era/generation/time. No. That would be Mozart's name being used. Who's better depends on who's listening. Who's more iconic depends on *how many* are listening. Being the better musician only matters to the musicians. The average person listening doesn't really care about that. And that's who makes or breaks any of it. The musicians are just a small percentage of the whole. Btw, Rush *were* showing off to musicians, while the average listener simply enjoyed the results of their virtuosity. Have an astoundingly astonishing day, evening, morning... whatever it is for you. 😁✌🤘

Yes I loved the 4:19 part myself.Eventhough its simple notes that can easily be played with one foot, some would use two and that would take away the feel of those few notes. The only thing I noticed was that he seemed to really be stretching out to reach the front cymbals, but this may just be the position/height he's most comfortable with or what he does to get the attack he wants from those cymbals.Nonetheless,a great song and brings back concert memories.

Scott Rockenfield é um dos bateristas mais substimado, tanto ele quanto o baixista Eddie Jackson são conhecidos pelo apelido de " One take" e ambos eram uma "cozinha" impressionante. E o Aquiles tocou a bateria original perfeitamente. Ficou incrível , vc fecha os olhos e acha que é o Scott.

Awesome cover Aquiles!! Scott Rockenfield's drum parts tell a story. Each part, is like another chapter in literature which takes you to a climax and conclusion. Thanks for taking us back in time and appreciate this masterpiece again. Obrigado!

This was amazing. I have deeply embedded memories of Queensryche and particularly this song. I'll never forget the offbeat china cymbals at the very end. Always my favorite part. I recall reading the Empire drums were recorded in an airplane hangar. They are the most epic sounding drums from that era as far as I'm concerned - not even comparable to much else really. And of course the playing, songwriting, and singing was on another level with Queensryche. You nailed this. Very inspiring. Now I need to listen to what I always thought might've been the best few minutes of music recorded in the 90s, at least that I was familiar with: the long version of Anybody Listening?
