Growing up Queensryche was hands down my favorite band. I saw them for the Empire tour and they were great. Then I went to see them in '97 I believe for "hear in the now frontier" tour and Chris was no longer with them and the music was so awful. I love all the band members, but Chris and Geoff were the engine to that band (imho).

Kelly Gray is an awesome musician and one of the great Seattle music engineers. He has been a friend and colleague of QR for years, recording and mixing a lot of their hits. He stepped in to fill the lead spot after Chris retired because they couldn't find a suitable replacement. After they got their new guy, Kelly went back to his support role. I was at this show back in 01 is it was fukin awesome and Kelly rocked it!

Dude, they went "public" with this album, meaning they toned down their rock and roll roots. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good album (their last one) however, may I suggest you look up "Take Hold of the Flame" and the whole album "Operation: Mindcrime." That Mindcrime album will blow you away, compared to Empire.

My old room mate and band mate , Geoff( Jeff) and I were great friends , He worked at Brenner Brothers Bread and I worked at Oberto Beef Jerky and we shared a 3 bedroom Apartment along with another famous bassist R.I.P. . We sang along to a Judas Priest Album almost every morning before work, or played tennis and listened to The Cars or The Knack. He was a big Pat Benetar and Heart Fan. When we weren’t rehearsing or performing, we would go to see Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday Nights.
