On AMFM we installed tvs in the main salon, our bow stateroom and on the radar arch post (which is removable). We prefer to not use streaming services or anything mainstream and use blue ray players that in a stack in the salon. They are used mostly for 1) cartoons for the grandsons 2) a movie at night for us. I simply download to a stick or pull out an old blue ray from home for us to watch for fun. All power wiring is hidden under the salon couch. The amps for the stereo system are in there with the battery that powers that. We connected an inverter to it and run the tvs off of that. The only power cable showing is upstairs where the plug on the arch was converted to be powered by the inverter only. It's really cool to see how different boats choose to do this. I tour new ones when I can. Thanks for this one Paul...always educational.

Great Video, Nice to be able to see the complete installation of the TV. Maybe you need a cell phone range extender on board. Would mean mounting another cool antenna to your radar arch to grab a more powerful signal from a longer distance away.

Well thank you sir much appreciated for the video. Good job, especially the tip the former owner had for the wedge/block of wood to mount to bulk head, great idea. minimizes holes and levels out the tv for the articulating mount. Not sure I am a fan of the power wiring route, I will have to work on that. Now, about the "forgetting who requested" the video....you hurt my one and only feeling I have left. lol ....UPDATE: after looking at 20+ marinas since august we have finally found a home for our yet-to-be-named-boat in Tuckerton, NJ...its like searching and buying a house! exhausting...but next summer we will have the cheapest shore home we ever imagined.

Glad you saw this one! Sorry about hurting your feeling, but you'll have to forgive me. With well over 15,000 followers on my social sites, it sometimes gets difficult for an old guy like me to keep track of all the comments & direct messages 😵😂 Happy to hear you found a new marina. Didn't think there was 20 marinas in any given area though 😉

@@BoatingWithBoogaboo your talking about the NJ shore line from central NJ to south jersey...probably a hundred+ marinas with varying cost and amenities that need to be sort thru. $$$$ closer to beach, $$ a little more inland. Just in the area we picked alone there are 10-15 marinas within a 10 mile radius....

@@mopar5447 Wow, that's impressive. I'm sure that with the proximity to the greater New York City area, there would be a considerable demand for marinas. Maybe we will be able to see some videos from the area next season . . .?

You need a travel router from Amazon.. it connections to the free wifi and creates a solid firewall between you and the wifi. I put on on our boat works great. Saves having to put new passwords in all your devices as well. Since the router creates it's own private wifi network like you have at home.

Your COAX could come in handy if you get a satellite subscription and mount your Dish on the dock. I've seen this setup on a few of my fellow boaters. The ones that are retired and live on their boat usually.

Ya, we've seen our share of dock mounted satellite dishes over the years, but for the amount of TV watching we do on the #boat, for now I think we'll stick with the fully wireless solution. . .

Wifi security concerns? Use a router on the boat. I have a RogueWave Pro Dual band Wifi antenna/access point that I connect to a NetGear router. The WAN port on the router obtains an IP from the RogueWave's builtin DHCP server and the router does network address translation (NAT) to the devices on the boat so that I have complete security on all 4 TV's, audio system etc.... Send me a PM and I can give you more details. Note: All of my TV's have built-in Wifi but I chose to connect Amazon Fire Sticks on them....works amazingly well. The Rogue Wave has a range of up to 7 miles (11.2654 kilometers to be exact).....and this year I plan on mounting the antenna on the new radar extension mount to get it up even higher.

Hey at the 820 mark you mentioned the HDMI port,, I just bought a 2011 260 DA, I am hoping this port will come in very handy for a Roku device on the TV already mounted , I’ll just need to figure out how to power the Roku stick (I was on my boat today looking at TV options,,,looks like the previous captain “nicked” the TV antenna a few times-- Roku/HDMI seems like my best option - I don’t think the USB can Power the roku- ) still looking at alternatives,, w/o having to buy a new smart tv, thanks; I will go with hotspot also,,😊

On our current Sea Ray, I installed a Samsung 32" Smart monitor as our main TV in the salon which works perfectly. It has the apps built in and only needs one power supply. Add your interwebs connection and good to go! Check out my full installation video for that one - including running a discreet power supply, here; kzread.info/dash/bejne/iGucm86Tkqjecco.html I also installed a 24" version in the vee berth which also works great - so long as I'm careful where I point the remotes 😉

We have an 'unlimited' package with Rogers. When I say unlimited, it provides 50 gigs of data at 'max speed', then it would throttle back to a slower speed. Works perfect for us. Check out the Rogers.com site to see what they are offering and pricing. I find they tend to switch out or offer new packages all the time, so best check them directly to see what's available now.

Do you have it powered through the AC/shore power/generator only or are you able to use it without running a generator/shore power?

Great video again, and you didn't hurt my one and only feeling lol Ive been procrastinating on installing a TV on the bulk head, properly securing it, proper mount, cable routing, they are all head scratchers for me because im so meticulous. The bulk head that the wedge behind the tv that is fastened to, is that fastened to the bulk head under the helm? Let me explain the question because the answer is pretty obvious, on my 340 it seems like the bulk head under my dash has a pocket or a core before it gets to the bulkhead in the salon, seems like it is layered if that makes any sense...so Im wondering if I fastened a mount inside the salon and ran the hardware through to the bulkhead in helm and when I tighten down if that space between bulkheads would prevent me from getting the mount secure enough. Also like your streaming idea, and if no cell reception simply don't watch TV so many other forms of entertainment on the boat Great video once again

I understand what you mean, but with Boogaboo under shrink wrap these days, it'll be a challenge to get back onboard. That said, I'll try to get a look at that when I get a chance. I'm thinking a sunny and relatively warm (ish) day would be best ;-) I'm sure you wouldn't be approaching that project until closer to the Spring anyways, so no panic, right?

Well done. You might look into creating a VPN server on your home router that you can tunnel into. I did it on my EdgeRouter. Very secure using my iPhone on public WiFi. Lookup “L2TP over IPSec VPN server” in KZread (Quik Tech Solutions). I whole new level of fun... Or, there are monthly subscription VPN servers you can use.

Thanks for the tip Tim. Gonna have to look into the VPN thing. One mention I have is that the HDMI cable for me anyway is useful in two ways...1/ connect your laptop and view movies from files. 2/ connect my STB (cable or satellite PVR) that I bring from home with all my fav shows that I recorded. That's one way to keep up on your latest episodes...although if you're away for days, those shows are not being recorded at home unless you have a 2nd PVR which I do.
