TV Gospel Time (c. 1962) | The Caravans The Soul Stirrers

Фильм және анимация

Sample episode featuring Shady Grove Choir, The Caravans and Paul Foster of The Soul Stirrers.
"No other program, film or single album captured the heart of the “Golden Age of Gospel” as did TV Gospel Time (1962-65). Airing Sunday mornings on NBC, this Chicago-based show merged song and God’s word, attracting a primarily African-American audience and sponsors, but introducing the genre to a broader audience." - Christiancinema.com

I feel like I'm at church ... back in the day ... with my grandmother ... and my father playing the guitar for the choir ... and I have a flared pastel-colored dress on, Shirley Temple curls in my hair from the curlers used on the stovetop, and very slippery dress shoes that were tight as a mug. 💒😇😇😇😇

If I ever enjoyed anything about being taken to a Baptist church as a child, it was the feeling of hope I felt when listening to the different choirs sing, as this video surely reminds me of those experiences I had. We were always spiritual as a people first, that is a fact, and the slave ships that made those transatlantic voyages were full of spirituality in those bowels. Spirituality has and always will represent hope for betterment, that's why as a people, if we continue to relent to religion ahead of spirituality, doom surely awaits us...

I am so happy to have seen this video!!! Y'all better SANG!!! 🙌🙌 From the beginning to the end the spirit of the Living God is present. It took me back to Greater Nazaree Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama. Now 70 years later and it still has me rejoicing💃💃💃💃💃💃 Take me back to the Old Landmark! My God!👏🏾👏🏾

Thank you so much for this upload - so great to see Shirley Caesar so young with the Caravans. I have lots of recordings but I've not seen any old footage like this. Thank you. :)

Doing this time people ment it from Thier ❤️ it wasn't a show it was deep expression from the Soul. I remember how I felt when I first felt like screaming from my ❤️ how I caught on fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 shouting raising up my hands to Jesus. The Old caravans what I Heard Real Truth about what they knew. Holiness.A strong Tower and power from I home

No need for a suntan. It's natural! Thank God for all skin. Whatever you're born with be greatful! Suppose you were a burn victim, they would accept any skin.
