This is one of my favorite songs ever. To hear how it came together is incredible. I'm glad the writer took Deodato's advice and incorporated the changes into the final masterpiece. Camille is incredible here, and even more so on the final version. Thanks for posting this Rick!!!!!

That’s crazy…deodato ended up releasing this song and not many of the lead vocal changes he recommended were executed! Camille’s voice dry with no effects is amazing!

yeah i have just heard this song and looked it up to see what this was and i can't believe he's criticizing it but his version is the same! her voice is amazing.

OK, I JUST discovered this video after being IN LOVE with this song since it dropped in 85. LOVE HIM, (deodato) but he's trying to change the one thing that made the song POP- where the lead is first in the chorus and the BG vox follow. He had some points, but the demo was absolute fire and sounds 90% the same as the final recording does. Some times it pains me to watch people tell people how to make their art. Again, total respect for Deodato, but I'm just sayin!!! Thanks for posting and thanks for ARE YOU FOR REAL!!

"Are you for real" is one of my all time favorite, favorite songs ever, ever, ever, I loved it back in the day, and I still listen to it now all these years later on my i-pod, and it is on CD's i have burned. I sing right along with it, love it, love it, love it. Camille has a great voice and this song just never gets old.

I AGREE WITH @jesp Music. DEODATO DID NOT EXECUTE ANY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES AND EVEN THE BASS LINE WAS KEPT INTACT IN THE PROFESSIONAL RECORDING. THE SONG WAS PERFECT AND HE COULD NOT BRING HIMSELF TO THE POINT OF DECLARING HIS COMPLETE LOVE ON SITE AND WAITED FOR A WEEK WHEN HE GOT THE COURAGE TO ASK FOR THE SONG.
