This will be my last English tutorial. I was actually thinking of creating a French Tutorial Channel on Filmmaking and those three tutorials made up my mind and I'm going to start this new project!
Thank you to everyone who has sent messages, feedback, etc... If not for your support, I wouldn't have wanted to go further!

JAN 2021 - This tutorial was so awesome! If you re still having trouble I learned that motion and track matte key cant be used at the same time. Move your layer, NEST IT. Then track matte key. Hope this helps anyone still stuck. Motion and Track Matte Key DON'T MIX

In the triangle example, why wouldn't you just create a mask instead of the alpha matte?

At the time, that's how I felt more comfortable doing it, because I was animating it and also using the triangle shape to apply other effects, I might be doing it differently today.

Follow the below: - Remove the track matte effect - Apply desired movement to image - Nest it - Then re-apply track matte Simply apply any further adjustment to the original image/video in the nest sequence.

Can you move or scale the video so that it is framed better within the text? When I try, the frame doesn't change but the position of the text does (even when the video clip is selected).

  • @NicolasBurnage

If you scale/move the video, you are moving the whole composition, to scale/move the video within the text you actually have to move/scale the text itself! :)

Track matte can be quite tricky if you also change de position in "Transform", Position should always set as default, but if you want to move your image around, I advise you to nest the element in another sequence, move the element in the nested sequence, and keep the track matte in the original one ! Not sure if I'm clear, but let me know if it fixes your issue !

somehow in premiere 2020 this did not work at all for me with a text layer, I was very annoyed and I'm not sure if it's a glitch or it just doesn't work like this with text. Switched to After effects and got it all working

Should work with a text layer in PrPro too, but they do work a bit differently so Adobe made something in the Essential graphics panel, when you edit your text, you can click on an checkbox that enables the text as a mask !

  • @NicolasBurnage

That depends on the scales of your clips ! They need to stay at 100 when you apply the effect then you can move around and see what's going on !
