Tutorial: converting models and animations from 3ds Max into SFM (Source Film Maker)
If you have your 3D models with its textures and animations in 3dsMax, and you would like to import them into SFM (Source Film Maker) for making your fan films, I hope this is a useful tutorial for you. In this tutorial I teach how to use the Wall Worm (Model Tools) plugin in 3ds Max for exporting models and animations to SFM supported formats (.MDL, .VVD, .VTX, .QC, .SMD, etc), and then I show how to import these models, textures e animations into SFM.

    great tutorial, I was surprised to find out Sfm did not support the traditional Fbx file types and was looking for days on how to get my models into Sfm. Thanks!

    hi watched a few of your tutorials , do you know how to extract 3d models with bones from mobile games , i know you can without bones with ninja ripper , but i am looking to extract models with bones maybe even animation , thanks a lot

    Hey Can you help me? I want to add more animation sequences to one model file but I don't know how to do it. It keeps generating me a model with many animation sequences, but all those sequences only have one and the same animation in them. What am I doing wrong?

    One question, if i need to export a 3d model with face flexes, how to do that ? should i export vta separate and then manually compile model outside of 3ds max or if i can export model this way and flexes will be automaticly added? can you put a tutorial for this? Anyway thank you for this tutorial one more time :)

    I'm having an issue where I can't run Export QC + Model and it gives me the following error: Problems exporting ghost_face_og: -- Runtime error: Skin need to be selected and in the modifier panel Skin:Skin Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    Oi! Aqui tem o modelo 3D do Noctis disponivel em formato OBJ, que pode ser importado no Unreal Engine: p3dm.ru/files/characters/human/10813-noctis-lucis-caelum.html. Já as animações eu ainda não sei como extrair, porque o jogo foi feito em Luminous Engine e ainda não conheço nenhum extrator de animações para ele. Vou continuar investigando, se eu descobrir uma forma prometo que te aviso.

    Hi! Can you describe more details about what you want to learn or what is the problem happening in your project? Your comment sounds familiar to me, I may have some experience on in place animations that could be helpful. If I know how to help, I will definetly make a tutorial.

    @@RDGameplays after watching your tutorial I used UE viewer and exported models and animations to 3dsmax. No problems But I want 1.charcter height is high. how to decrease it? 2.i want to retarget another 3d model with the original character and animations aswell. 3.i exported animations to ue4 If we consider a walk animation. The animation is moving forward. I want how to set walk in continuous cycle(in place)?.. These are my problems hope you can fix it. I am waiting for your help.hope you can teach me.

    So using 3ds Max you want to 1) resize the character model, 2) transfer the animations from one character into another, 3) export the animations from 3ds Max into a file format that is supported by Unreal Engine 4, and 4) remove XYZ motion of an animation so the character will move in place. Is that correct? I think I may know how to do 1) , 3), and 4). Actually I made a tutorial showing how to do 3), here it is: kzread.info/dash/bejne/goCn2deOp6iTh6w.html I will have to study the 2) question though, and try to find a solution, I will need some time to investigate and learn.
