Been doing this today, so to anyone that's having trouble an their clothes becomes a garbled mess: make you character larger, like 5x times larger, that fixed any problems for me. As a guide, my character now measures at 2.5 meters on the Z axis. good luck!

Hello. Thank you for the tutorial. Followed along. Do you know why it doesn't quite "sew" tithe vertices? Mine bring them close but when you go close enough, you discover they aren't touching. Though the cloth sim is working.
Thank you
This video is so nice but I haven't try it yet so I will try it out later. Btw I have a question regarding the cloth, will it became the separate one or the sewing one after the model being export?
Nice video, I still haven't tried it. I was wondering, is it possible to make more realistic sleeves? Sewn only underneath, as it is normally done.
@lyrebird712
2 жыл бұрын
Fairly certain you would do this with something like a cylinder and sew an open portion of it back together. I haven't tried it in blender, but that is how I've done it in Marvelous Designer.
First, I would like to say thank you for this awesome tutorial. Second, I'm slightly new to blender at the beginner and intermediate level. I want to note few things: at the bottom left screen, it is slightly diffcult to take notes of any key that you have pressed on the video. This tutorial seems to be slightly fast, and it is difficult to follow. You speak fast for a few people to follow. Especially, for people whose English is their second language. I wish you mentioned more about any more obstacles that a user would face during the editing and simulation process. Any common mistake that a user would make during the building, editing, etc. I want to thank you again for this video.
How can I render the cloth soft texture from frame 1?
“Scale him up to a more realistic scale” *proceeds to create 18 foot tall man* that part made me laugh
Hey quick question! Do you know if this will transition into Unity for VR avatars or for characters in games? Awesome videos! thank you

Hmm. This feels so silky smooth... I don't think medieval people had such luxurious cloth.
Hi I followed this tutorial step by step and am pretty happy with the outcome. I have one problem though: the sleeves wont completely fall down onto the arm, the ends of the sleeves where the shirt is sewn together always stays up like a tent. I have already played around with all the options in the cloth pane. anyone got an idea what this could be?

I just had the same issue. If you apply the mirror, you can add the image and it wont be duplicated on both sides. i just save a template for the mirrored shirt and then when im ready to make a sure with a design, i duplicate said template, apply the mirror, and then add the custom textures
The only helpful video
any tips to reduce clipping between the cloth and body?
This is one of those times if I had someone to talk me through it I would do much better. I was stumped as soon as the video started when I noticed that your version of blender is different from mine. Mine being 3.6. Right from the start I couldn't get my gridlines or the plane to be the same size as yours. 2:22 after mirroring the plane, it won't split into 2 when I hit G and then mouse to the right.

Hello, still beginner in Blender, where do you have the 3d human model ?
The plane isn't extruding backwards for me is there something I'm missing here? it only goes up and down and side to side it won't go forward or backwards.
at 8:30 i did the sewing option and it did shrink but it didnt stop at the character figure it kept shrinking and falling i hope you tell me why
I can't get this to work. The cloth wont fall, no matter what I do. Do I have some switch turned off or something?
I have followed this and so many other tutorials. I still cannot find how to make my seams as nice. It confounds and befuddles.
cant seem to get it working right on higher poly models

Hi! Thanks a lot for the tutorial. But does anyone can explain why it's so necessary to have t-shirt mesh consist of almost even squares?
@BadNessie
2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm *far* from being an expert but from what I understand it becomes relevant when applying textures or color patterns, especially when painting on the surface. I can't quite explain it but at that stage it becomes important so it makes sense to take it into consideration very early on. The further you get into the project the harder it becomes to readjust it without messing with a lot of other factors you've already put work into.

The simulation is based on the topology. So if the squares are wonky your cloth simulation will be as well.
Hi, how come all the transformations evolve around the origin (e.g. at 2:03 ) or the selected object, edge (e.g. 2:44) , face, etc. instead of the 3D cursor? Whenever I get to those steps, the object transforms around the 3D cursor. I'm a complete beginner, I hope someone can help.

Is this question still on?
can't get past 3 minutes into the tutorial, because after i extrude the face, when i try to rotate it, the entire mesh wants to rotate as well and there seems to be no info on the web about how to stop that without adding hooks or something that you are obviously not doing
is it working on 3.0?
it doesn't work for me when I enable sewing. In general, when I add a cloth sim to the shirt it doesn't fall or move at all, just stays in place I checked if I was still in edit mode and made sure everything was correct, but it just doesn't work or snap together

It does not work, results are fuzzy. I miss information details. Result depons on what ? Polygon count, sewings number, position ? I get stretching issues every time
How the hell do you even get the model into Blender? Im trying to pull an FBX from a Unity package via export and import and it just turns into a horrific spaghetti monster.
can i save it as ydd?
"Get it to realistic scale." Proceeds to make a 7 meter giant.
this no longer works something has changed can u make an updated one?

Just extend the mesh outward where the stitches are not completely pulled and inward where the cloth is bulged out. Basically adjust the mesh until it fits the model perfectly, or maybe you want a loose fit, so extend or extrude and where you still see the stitches, it just need more mesh unti you get a proper seam.
@3kelvinhong
2 жыл бұрын
I found that enlarge both model can make the stitches smaller, under Physics -> Cloth -> Self-collision -> set Distance to 0.001m. Then enlarge your model to 5m tall or 10m tall should solve the problem.
@manooni

make sure your curser on blender is in the very middle and you have to be in edit mode so you move the mesh not the object, also to make it touch when it goes back in you have to hit the little box that says clipper after you have moved the boxes apart.
8:14 if I hit the space bar there, my plane does not collide/collapse down, and it does not form itself into cloth either. what step did I miss??

Gonna add this comment here too pds8475 3 weeks ago Hi I'm having a problem where the seams are not pulled together and leave a gap between the front and back. I have tried increasing the amount of loop cuts so there are more edges but that doesn't make a difference. I also tried adjusting the sewing force but again that doesn't make it any better. I have tried working through multiple tutorials and used multiple character models in case something about the model I was using was causing the issue. No matter what I try there is a large gap along the seams. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
@ByTheGrace0fGod
2 жыл бұрын
You might want to lower the distance under self-collision. Also, you can apply the cloth modifier and merge the vertices in edit mode to fill the gaps. Be sure to be happy with the general shape before doing that.
