Tutorial 1: Soft White Chicken
In this tutorial I use only one colour: white.
It mixes with copper oxides to change colour and can look really super. I also show using a stencil and different sifters.
Enamel: Soft White from Milton Bridge in the UK
Metal: Copper that is 3x3 inches and 1.2mm thick
Firings: 4
Kiln Temp: 800˚ Celsius (approx. 1450˚ Fahrenheit)
Firing Times: 1.30 mins for initial firings up to 2 mins for the last firing.
Stencil: made from card stock. Stencils need to be robust without being too stiff. Regular printer paper is too flimsy.
I used a Cricut machine to cut out the stencil but a Stanley knife or scalpel is just as good.

Key takeaway: Soft White is a gorgeous colour. It can become very green when over-fired, it can stay very white with several layers and looks great just on its own.
