Hi Bill, I noticed on the Rocky Mountain website that the "Adventure" kit (with the spacers) are only available for 1 1/8" bars. Did you order each of the components separately? The regular D-Flex Pro kit (without spacers) seems to be the only one available for the stock 7/8" bars.

So, can't find the spacer part anywhere. Ordered the kit from rockymtn fit for a tw and it didn't come with the spacers which are definitely needed. Pretty disappointed at this point

Thanks for the great video. I have the identical TW with original bars and will be ordering the same Tusk set up so thanks for including all the part numbers! Do you think it would have been possible to install these without removing the throttle and just use the exacto knife on the hand grip? Thanks again, Jim

Hi Jim, the throttle tube had an enclosed plastic end just inside the handgrip end. You can cut the handgrip end with an exacto knife but the plastic is much too thick to cut with a knife unless you want to be very meticulous and just keep scoring it over and over. The other thing that might work would be to use the 7/8" spade bit from the outside and try to cut through both the grip and the end of the plastic throttle tube from the outside. Most likely you would ruin the spade bit when it goes through the plastic and hits the end of the steel handlebar. It may seem intimidating to be to messing with removing the throttle, cables, etc. but even having never done it before, it was pretty easy / obvious what needed to be disassembled. Also I was able to ensure there were no burrs inside the tube or on the handlebar ends and the drilling down through the inside of the throttle tube "self centers" the spade bit in the throttle tube as I describe in the video. I would say there is a higher likelihood of cracking (and needing to replace) the throttle tube drilling from the outside. Some guys just loosen the throttle housing and slide it 1/2" off the bar and use a hacksaw to cut the hole end of the grip and throttle tube off (which is how Tusk instructions read) but it looks too "hacked off" for my liking and it not as clean as the way I did it. Using the spacers allows the throttle grip not to interfere (stick) on the handguard bar. Good luck.

@@billwenzel2161 I agree. Keeping the hand grip intact looks much better so I'll be following your procedures to the letter. Thanks again! Having seen the tweaks and "adjustments" other guys dealt with trying to make everything fit, I'm certain you've saved me a lot of time & frustration. Rocky mountain is out of stock right now but I'll be getting on this as soon as they're available again.

Thank you Bill. Very informative clip. I have a used TW, 2013 with 1500 miles in prime shape. I have added enlarged pegs, skid plate, LED head light. Now I want to entertain hand guards. I noticed you added lifters on the handle bars. My bars are still stock, and I wanted to add lifters as well. Any problems with the current length of brake hoses, throttle cable, clutch cable etc? Which brand of lifters did you get? Any comments you can direct me on would be appreciated. MIke L in El Paso

Hi Mike, I went with 30mm bar risers from amazon. I've not had any issues with any hoses or cables but I'd say anything more than 30mm would likely require some cable / hose loosening / re-routing. I was concerned about the brake hose mostly but it's been fine. www.amazon.com/dp/B076J74YYD?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
