Nice! this knife is a better looking than the ones I see at stores.
To quote Dundee, "Now that's a knife"
Мощный клинок для мощного кузнеца 💪⚔️🔥
That was a ballsy move doing a full quench in water…😮
I'll be honest, I was surprised to see a water quench.

LOOKS LIKE THE RAMBO KNIFE.
I saw what you did there, shaping that whole thing with an angle grinder. Aside from the obvious with the electricity and all, 150 years ago you would have burned for a witch. That was some pure sorcery sir, and I for one applaud your mastery of the dark arts.

You have made a beautiful heavy chopper, well-done.
A piece of art !!! Job well done
That's a big ass knife! Looks awesome! Super sweet😎
12:57 - That was easy. ;) Since this blade is rebar, wouldn't it easily rust?

I want this knife. Amazing job
Sick build!
Very nice blade. Good work.
I'm here for the water quench.
Super mișto !
Very nice as usual 😊

Most rebar isn’t hardenable, some can be. Who knows if this is.

As I understand it, the idea is that manufacturers don't really control carbon content that closely with rebar, so you j u s t might be lucky and find that yours does pass the file test after heat treat. On my channel there's a rebar sword video. - after making it I realised it didn't matter to me whether the rigmarole had achieved anything as I'd better not sharpen it, given that everyone who sees it wants to pick it up and look at it, so I don't keep it sharp anyway. But obviously, most people want to make a functional item and wouldn't be content with having made a mere wallhanger.

Generally speaking, you can somewhat tell if it’s harden-able by how well it sparks when you grind it. The more sparks, the better. At least that’s what I have heard while watching Forged in Fire for 9 seasons.

It has some very complex sparks it's kicking out so it looks hardenable
Does rebar even harden properly?

no, it's a low carbon steel. Lot of time spent which could have been better used.

Most rebar is mild steel and not hardenable. There are some types of rebar that is made of good steel that is hardenable, I’m doubtful this is that kind of steel though.
Damm that is one big knife. Beautiful. I would be proud to carry that one. That wood must be awful hard? Thank you.
To handle such a large angle grinder for such intricate work must need strength and talent
Magnifique 😘😘😘

Aside from from the belt sander i used to do exactly this with my early blades though i never used rebar simply because i didn't have a source.

Nice job, but how do you work without ear protection ? No noise-canceling headphones, and I didn't see any earplugs. The noise is hellish, take care of your health, at least you're hearing, when you lose it, you never get it back. The machine that hits metal is a dream for many blacksmiths, who do everything by hand! You're in luck ! 🤠👍

Undoubtedly, but, definitely, unique, unprecedented, unparalleled, unmatched, masterpiece of art and professional workmanship.
Only hardened, not tempered!🤔
I was expecting a normal Rebar
Remember folks don't try this without protective gear.
Make the biggest knife
Wonder what the Carbon content of that steel he was using,, could have a very brittle knife there (water quench & no tempering) Also that groove and the "saw teeth" on the back are great stress risers, just begging to be crack initiators (particularly with brittle steel)
akan berkarat jika lama tidak digunakan
So can you harden rebar or no
Я надеюсь что не ошибаюсь с маркой стали.... Это же МГ2Р? Или я не прав?

МГ2Р это "мягче говнвна в 2 раза"
I don't reckon this kind of knife and sword making was possible hundreds of years ago without power tools able to cut grooves and lines in the metal? Either that or it would have taken literally hundreds of hours with a file?
Nice elephant skinner

No epoxy on the scales? What fresh hell is this?😮😅
Had to stop watching seeing that grinder without a guard.
Maybe try sharping the knife without it pointing at your stomache.
Isn't rebar steel made to be cheap and soft? Why would you want to use it for a knife? Thanks.
This soft iron...
No eye protection while using the power hammer? so stupid.
создает орудие для убийства!
Rebar is not a carbon harden-able steel so right off the bat it has that against it and those serration are useless!!!! I’m a bladesmith from Australia and I hate this knife shaped thing
"knife"
Rebar i not a very good Knife steel. It doe not have enough carbon and will not hold a edge.

He likes to live dangerously grinding and cutting with no eye protection. 🙄 Also, rebar is garbage steel.

If you don't like it, get lost then.
I stopped watching after you spent six minutes trying to make it look cool as opposed to just making it a good knife. Personally, a rebar knife is fine, it's basically just an iron knife and we had a whole age of human history devoted to iron but this "it's so pretty" or "I don't care if it's worth a damn as long as it looks cool" attitude is the worst part of trying to be a craftsman these days. All sizzle, no steak is a huge problem and we should be ashamed. You wanna do pretty? Become a jeweler.
Completely useless! I bet you can't make a matching spoon and fork!
Very sloppy and not worth watching! :(
