This method can work if you squeeze the charcoal with your hand and use lump charcoal instead of the processed briquettes. The briquettes are actually charcoal mixed with clay. You must squeeze the charcoal very, very hard for several minutes. You will see smoke rising from the charcoal as you squeeze it. The original experiment that yielded diamonds involved microwaving the oil-soaked charcoal in a ceramic crucible for hours. The resulting diamond crystal was around 1mm in diameter, black, and filled with inclusions. Technically you can use a microwave to make "diamonds" but they're literally worthless.

Since diamond is carbon, theoretically you could make it from charcoal brickets but it would take loads of pressure to cause the carbon to aline in a crystalline structure. Sorry folks you need natural or synthetic pressure to make diamonds.

Here's one that you can try and it should actually work, if you want to make a diamond. Ist you will want to start in a warehouse completely devoid of oxygen. Since it's highly unlikely the structure cannot stand up to a complete vacuum without violently imploding, replace the air completely with an inert gas, such as argon. Carefully cut a 1 cubic meter chunk of low suffer anthracite and sculpt it into a sphere as close do a meter in diameter as you can make it. You will need a titanium cube with several 4 cm high pressure dust injection ports on each face. The inner dimensions of the cune should be 2 mtr x 2 mtr x 2 more with a wall thickness of at least at least 75 cm. Fill base of cube to a depth of .5 metr with powder fine quarts dust andd place the anthracite center the anthracite sphere and fill around it with additional quarts dust until the cube is full and seal the top. Using the dust ports, evenly pump in additional quarts dust around the sphere until the internal pressure is 22,500 kg cm. Heat cube to 1400 C for 3weeks. Let it cool to room temp and recheck and adjust dust pressure as necessary. Repeat heating procedure every 325 years for 250,ppp years. Then open cube and you should find that the anthracite sphere has turned into highly purified diamond. If after this experiment, you don't have a high quality diamond, I will fully refund the cost of the experiment.

Meanwhile the sellers of peanut butter: "No, no guys, it really works. You just don't believe in the positive result. Try one more time".

The sad part is that you had to make the video to convince people that it was a hoax...

Diamonds are carbon made with extreme heat as well as extreme pressure. It can only be reproduced in a lab. A microwave can probably get it hot enough, but doesn't apply pressure.

In Soviet Russia, we turn diamonds into peanut butter. In America, we turn student loans into lifelong debt.

When Santa gave Coal for Christmas because he's been bad that christmas. But he got a trick on his sleeve so he puts the coal in the oven for an hour, after the hour he puts it on Jif Peanut Butter and fill a large bowl on ice and place on it, then he place it on the fringe on a day, after the day he puts on table and said to his parents and said thank you santa!

turning diamond into carbon dioxide is quite cool. Needs dipping in liquid oxygen and then burning with oxyacetylene torch (can also work with ordinary butane torch and liquid oxygen or oxyacetylene with no liquid oxygen.) coolest part is placing the diamond in the liquid oxygen after it has ignited - carries on burning to nothing (all converted to CO2) Dont know how to turn diamond into charcoal, hard to do because the temperatures required would easily vaporize the charcoal into carbon dioxide. ????????? maybe burning the diamond to extremely high temperature with no oxygen around eg in a vacuum or noble gases (nitrogen may also be problematic)
