So this is Polyurethane leather mixed with Mexican fairy dusts. I was so curious seeing a post about new leather made from cactus on Instagram and left disappointed.

according to them it is 90 % cactus and 10 % biopolimers, it is impossible so far to do the same quality and strength with just plant based materials. if this means a reduction of 90 % of the contamination produced by pvc it is great.

I've seen a lot of hype over this. What no one wants to talk too much about is what it's like to use in real life. I've just ordered an iPhone case made of cactus leather because, heretic that I am, I want to find out for myself. Don't hate me, Bloomberg.

It's the whole, "cows fart, be afraid," climate alarmism. I recently retired a full grain leather gun belt (more heresy in the eyes of Bloomberg/WEF) that I'd worn every day for about three decades. I'll probably be buried in its replacement.

Many things. Let me clarify: 1. Cows are one of the biggest polluters in the world. They also require an insane amount of food, land, and water. And, despite what people may believe, much of the animal is wasted. Diary and beef cows are NOT used for leathermaking. The cows used for leather are only used for leather, meaning everything else is wasted. 2. The chemicals, tanners, and dyes used to make leather are harmful for the environment and render the leather non-recyclable nor biodegradable. 3. Most leather you see in stores is cheap, flimsy, crap leather that will fall apart within a year, leading to overconsumption of the product. When people harp on about leather being a "hardy" material, they do not mean the leather us poorer folks have access to. They mean the $200 stuff.

they said they harvest it, dry it for 3 days, then extract the proteins and fibers and make a paste and then combine it with a recycled material like polyester and that’s how they make it. u lack any type of informational literacy skills my boy.

@@kindayoungbutokNo, what I meant is: hów do they extract these fibres and proteins. If I wanted a description of how this kind of leather is made, I'd check on Wikipedia with key words. If I come to KZread, I expect to be able to see the production process. Instead of showing that, they show me plenty of cactuses and someone says in a few seconds that they "extract the fibres". No added value to a wiki page with a picture of the final product. The little 4g bandwidth that I have, wasted. That's the context.

@@fernandonavarrourquiza9127Oh please do elaborate on how you perfectly understand the key extraction process when it's only briefly mentioned in passing instead of actually making use of the video medium and showing it to us. A video should be worth more than a 1000 words...
