Turning Bulls in with the Cows!
-Welcome to the Sleep Ranch! We are located in the Northern Black Hills on the South Dakota/ Wyoming border where our ancestors settled and started ranching in 1883.
I (Carson) work alongside my parents, Jeff and Jodi, our ranch hand, Jaques, my wife, Damaris who also works as a nurse in town, and our son Silas! We have friends and family who come along very frequently as well!
We run a cow/calf operation where we summer our cattle on the Black Hills National Forest and winter them in the foothills of the Black Hills. We also have a backgrounding feedlot, and grow alfalfa and grass hay.

Damaris really seems excited about the garden. That is great. Always enjoy seeing cattle doing cattle things. Have been watching for less than a year so I am looking forward to turning the cattle out on the leases.
From your drone shot....amazing how they choose to follow the same paths/trails - very visible from above.
Damaris looks like she is doing really good with her garden. Rain sure helped. The bulls are looking good. Sweet Silas looks like he is still teething

Great video love your your little one, he so adorable.
She needs fencing around her garden to keep the dog from running on it and kill her plants after she's done so much work on it. 😊

Time for bulls to make it happen 👍❤️🐂
man, that is some really excellent photography in this clip. And really interesting story of how the decisions are made, and so, thank you very much. God bless.
Always enjoy the drone footage. Silas must be getting ready to cut some teeth. Happy for the rain you're getting. Hopefully that will make a lot of hay for you this summer.
You can tell that those boys really like the ladies just like I do. 😂😂
Beautiful drone footage again Carson of some really gorgeous land. The bulls didn’t seem so sure of themselves going into the trailer but comping out their hormones started kicking in and they knew exactly why they were there. Nature, I love it. Hi Damaris, it’s always good to see you and baby Silas. Your garden is going to be so pretty and beneficial to your family. Can’t wait to see what it looks like in a few weeks. Thank God for the rain. Our panhandle finally got some substantial rains after 248 days without a drop. Over here on the east side got some soaking too. Prayers continue going up for rain for crops and grasses for the animals. Thanks for your and the family’s work helping to feed folks across the land. I’m thankful for all of you who do. And thanks for sharing.

Angus is acting just like a blue. Love it, he just wants to be part of the family. I hope you have a great year for your cattle. I love the rolling land, your own Kettle Moraine area. Plant a little extra lettuce outside of the garden fence and you may get a nice rabbit. I hope you all stay safe and healthy.

Awesome video ❤😊
So when i was really young and I’d go out in the pasture with my dad to check cattle, if the bull was breeding, my dad just told me they were dancing. He said after seeing that happen a half dozen times checking cows, i came home and told my mom “that bull really likes to dance a lot”. SHe had no idea what i was talking about at first lol

Hello from bali Indonesia 🇮🇩

Hi! I'm curious how much time it takes to move the bull into the cow's paddock. thank you for explaining everything in such detail!
With newly bought and recently leased bulls, how do you determine sociability with people working with them. I imagine the bulls have reputations provided by sellers and leasing agents.

Mostly just by trial and error! We will get to know them over the next few months and see what they are like!

@sleepranch

Built in 1917!
Fence in at least twice as much as your wife wants to garden. Then you only need to build it once.
Nope, nope YES!
We got an inch a week for the last couple weeks.
