Turning big logs on the sawmill.

a quick video showing how I use a jack to turn logs on the sawmill. I've looked for all kinds of methods and ideas on this but never saw anyone using a farm jack. I've found it VERY useful around the mill and this video shows how I use it to roll logs.

What can I say, that's smooth, simple, and you are in control
This is a Bright Idea !
We use a lifting strap wrapped around and hook the strap to the jack. We built rollers for the top of the vertical pieces, so they roll without damage to the log.
Like Brian, I use a lifting strap wrapped around the log/cant and hook the eye on one end to a chain hoist hanging from an overhead beam (inside a shop). But your method is great for outdoors. Thanks for sharing .
I forgot I watched you before had a senior moment I used your pipe idea works great .Now I have to get a jack
Nice Job! Not everyone has a tractor... simple method and good control. Stay safe.
Great idea. Keeping it simple. Thx for sharing your method.
Work smarter not harder! Good job!!
Yeah I'm doing it too.... perfect
Guess I'll be getting me a helper like that ive been thinking of an other use to get me off the h ground but this will help for sure
I like it. Merry Christmas
Thank you that was very useful
Try a leaf blowet for cleaning the bunks, and blowing the sawdust off the cuts.
that is fantastic idea. Thanks
That's a smart idea.
Brilliant! Well done.
Owl poop is mighty dang slick but that may just be slicker.
I've never had a log I couldn't roll with my peavey but if I do I will keep this in mind. Although it is quite slow.
Smart very smart thank you
get yourself a small battery powered leaf blower to sweep off the bunks.
awesome!
That’s awesome. Very well executed. Have you had issues with your bed getting out of level? One of those drops shook your rack pretty hard. Not saying I’m any better.
A chain with a slip link will work better and it won’t scar your lumber up!
5' cant hook on that size?
Thank you. Very good method and idea. I just spend 2 hours turning a 30 inch log today. Where do you get the yellow hook

It is just half of a Timber Tuff log tongs.
leaf blower
Any Sissy can cheat. A real man blows his back , just to be manly 😂. Really this is a simple great idea. I've used the winch method hooked to a hydraulic arm. This is much better than all of that crap. I had a Harbor Freight pickup bed crane made so it would swivel over the cant , but using both the hand winch , and hydrolic hand pump didn't work as well as this.
Thats to slow foe me lol
