Turning Around My CHEAP Lexus ES350 In ONE DAY Worth Thousands More

I traded a motorcycle for this 2010 Lexus ES350. Now that it's here it's time to breathe some life back into this 253,000 mile car. It took a village but with Detail Dudes and Blue Collar Collision and Glass we managed to wash, polish, ceramic coat, interior detail, chrome wheel clean, and replace the windshield in a single day. All that's left is mounting the old tire onto the new wheel Monday and this car is ready to head out!

When applying a ceramic coating keep the applicator on the panel slide it back and forth in a cross hatch pattern lifting the applicator after every pass will create high spots or miss a spot on the panel. Only a recommendation do as you wish. I have installed approximately 100 ceramic coatings in last 3 years I’m only saying to help people no hate at all. Cheers

Fortunately Avalon King is probably the easiest ceramic coating to work with on the market, but you are very correct. On our pro grade coatings we install the manufacturer actually recommends against doing cross hatch pattern and just overlapping at about 50% to ensure full and even coverage.

@The Forsaken One after it is applied to the paint the chemical that allows the coating to bond to the clear coat, once it has a rainbow look after application (temperature and humidity play a role in this and can be anywehere from 1 minute to 10 minutes) that means it has bonded and is ready to be wiped off.

John - you should try the balled up alum foil method before trying steel wool to "polish" the chrome. alum is softer than (on metal) chrome, and doesn't leave behind steel fragments to rust in place as they become embedded. take 1ft of alum foil, wad it up, squirt some simeple green or wd40 on it, and try that.

So LKQ found you a chrome wheel why not ask about the mirror while you were at it. The color portion of the mirror is a pop our panel. So you can pop your nebula gray out and slap it onto the replacement mirror assembly

These cars are just the best car of all time, bulletproof reliability, plenty fast, smooth and comfortable, plenty of space, really good on gas, way better than the epa estimates, and good looking. Hard to find something better than these ES’s.

I recently tried a similar flip. Found a 2000 Acura TL in great shape with 70k miles, rust free (rare where I’m from) with paint and wheels in bad shape. Bought it for $2500. Spent a bit of money and time getting the paint fixed and new wheels. Guess what? It was still a 20 year old car and that’s how people perceived it no matter how clean it was. The only way I can sell it is to take a loss on the “fixes” I made to it. Lesson learned.

Heard a tip. Put a soft ballcap-style sunvisor right above the display(not something hard that would injure in an accident). LCD's get burned by the sun.
