If I purchase a new lathe next year, it will be this model. Its size and features are perfect for my needs. Ambrosia maple is very pretty. I like the various styles shown here.

Great job Chris. I have two comments. When you did the final scraping of the outside of the platter you could have changed your gouge orientation to 45 degrees (lowering the handle) and that would have given you a shear scrape and not just a scrape. Secondly I could see that you sanded the outside at +1700 RPM which can cause minute heat cracks, but it looked like you had a pretty light touch. Slower might have been better. You are right, any day in the shop and especially turning is a good one. Keep the chips flying.

Nice platter demo. Have you had any issues with using 3rd party tool rests? I have a new 15/24 and love its features. However, I can't tighten any of my third party tool rests onto the Laguna Banjo. Those posts appear to be 1/64" narrower than the Laguna 1" post. Any suggestions.

I think it would be lot easier if you have Laguna SUV CNC machine. That's what I use.. :-)

I like Laguna products, but guys, those are sooo undersized legs for that lathe.

Add a shelf; then stock it with plenty of sandbags, to dampen vibration.
