Turning a Walnut Bowl: Woodturning with Sam Angelo

Sam goes through the process of turning a low-profile Walnut bowl-from
cutting the bowl blank to applying a walnut oil finish. A follow-up video will go into more detail on applying the final oil finish.
This bowl was turned for Bruce B. the president of the Yellowstone Woodturners Club in Billings, Mt. He has decided to move out of state to be closer to family.

Sam, another nice bowl, I'm not sure what you used for a finish, after the Shellac. I will try to send you my latest attempt to make a "Calabash Bowl"......

It turned out nice! Around 29:32 when you start talking about having the outside finished and getting ready to work on the foot, is there a small crack starting near the rim? If so, what did you do to take care of it?

Certainly room for personal preference but I thought the sapwood looked nice…was watching on my iPad so maybe I wasn’t seeing what the potential issue might end up being. Turned out very nice!

Be careful when turning or working around anything spinning , you should not have rings or watches on that maybe get caught up and cause serious trouble . I realize you maybe have never had a problem with this but it only takes once , and a caution should be issued
