Seeing you make an entire dice set(D4, 1 or 4 D6, D8, 1 or 2 D10, D12, and D20) out of the same raw chunk of material would be cool!

Seriously, just the prettiest d20s to ever exist, doesn't matter what the stone is, I still get the urge to turn into a dragon and make a horde out of the dice you make.

A synthetic ruby would be fun to see glow under UV. Also, the nice sheen of Golden obsidian might be cool too (imagine using the obsidian d20 dice against an obsidian dragon... epiiiic overload! ❤) . It's nice to see sponsors for your videos too! As always, we are already excited for your next project upload. They are all super cool 😎 ❤ More power to you and your channel!

No mistakes, only happy accidents sir! Absolutely stunning work. The contrast between the gold numbering and the pink is stellar, good choice!

Not sure how viable it would be because of possible inclusions in the stone, but it would be amazing to see you cut either turquoise or malachite! Love the videos!

I started a piece of malachite a while back and it broke in half. I do have a piece of turquoise to try. It has some inclusions too though.
@ssteele1812

Malachite and turquoise can be "stabilized" making them much easier to work with. I think the stabilizing agent is similar to epoxy so I'm not sure how it would "cut" on your equipment though. Finding a piece of malachite with enough natural silicifcation would be very tough.

@ladislavseps4801
9 ай бұрын
I don't know anything about gemstones so this is probably unfeasible... BUT can you try stabilising using sodium silicate (waterglass)? It is thin liquid that react with oxigen in air and when dried it turns into sodium dioxide aka quartz. It was commonly used in egg preservation and pottery repair (as glue) is is caustic but quite safe comparable to other household chemicals
Could be cool to see a d20 where the extra facets are a lot thinner, closer to chamfers. It would keep the sharper shape of the original dice (instead of the rounder shape you get with these), but still reflect the light at unexpected angles.
You set a good example of, "When things dont go the way its planned, work around it instead of scrap it." Keep up the good work, you do amazing videos.🧡🧡
I'm not gonna lie, I would watch you cut just about anything. These videos are such a satisfying and relaxing way to spend a few minutes, and they also tickle the dice goblin in my brain. If you've got cool and interesting projects coming up, I'll be around to watch them!
Your work is glorious as always! And the music choice is something to be mentioned too!

Shout out to Andrew for picking amazing music.
I suggest Chromium-spiked Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (YAG:Cr)! It has intense green base color, and strong red fluorescence, an amazing and unique look not found in any other gemstone. This crystal is used as a 'Q-switch' in pulsed lasers - basically, it helps charge up the energy so it can be released all at once in extremely powerful bursts.
I would LOVE to see you cut a labradorite d20! They're my favorite stone and you never know what sort of flash you'll get when you cut it, so it could be a really fun process.
I used to play AD&D and now I work in a mining site so your work really speak to me. Glad I found you! Thanks!!!
You should cut a D20 out of an X-cube! It's a weirdly edgy name for what is otherwise known as a dichroic prism cube, used in overhead projectors to split colors. I'm just gathering the equipment I need to start faceting my own stones, and I owe you a big thanks as an inspiration to give it a go! I don't think I will be cutting dice anytime soon, I lack the tools needed for etching the numbers, but maybe someday!

That is an interesting idea tbh!
I have no idea if this would be financially or artistically feasible, but making a star gemstone into a d20 would be gorgeous. I've only ever seen star gems in the Museum of Natural History in NY, but a star die would be so gorgeous.
The mini-tables on the quartz look great! The stone has this clouded, intricate internal texture so I think it softens up where the 'star' corners meet and suits it really well.
I have no interest in playing games that use these dice, or have ever. Your videos are so well put together and the production quality is so high. That this has become one of my favorite channels. Thank you.

Personally I would love a detailed how to video, with such things as machinery and angles being covered more in depth. I love these videos and it's got me thinking about trying it out myself :)
I loved your Amethyst D20, but I think this one has to be my favorite. The color just pops, and the gold looks so good with the pink. I wish you made these for sale. I would love to have something like this.
I'm not sure, but I would love to see an obsidian dice, it would be amazing.
That gold was just the perfect color for the strawberry quartz. I just love watching these videos, they are so cool and interesting to watch.

I do have a huge piece of clear sapphire that I might do someday.
My personal favorite gem is a peridot (that's kinda basic, I know) so it'd be rad to see a dice made out of that (or even just something visually similar to a peridot). Amazing work as always!!
@waterunderthebridge7950
9 ай бұрын
A standard D20 has a volume of about 6 cm3 (or 6 ml) and peridot has a specific gravity of about 3.3 (i.e. that times the density of water). Therefore, a D20 sized peridot would weigh around 20 grams with a per gram price tag of $25 to $3,000 according to the internet. So to have even _just_ the material cost of a chunk of peridot that size would be between $500 - $60,000, depending on stone quality. All that is calculated assuming prices scale linearly with weight which they don’t as bigger gems increase in value exponentially. For reference, the biggest cut peridot _ever_ found (on exhibition in the Smithsonian) is about 60 grams in weight. Tl;dr pretty expensive project lol
The pacing, narration, storytelling, visuals, editing. Everything is so good, and gets better every video. Inspiring stuff.
Synthetic gems are very underappreciated, so anything with that stuff would be awesome.
Amazing as always. The pink of the quartz really makes the numbers pop.
I'll be honest, my favourite gemstone is Tugtupite, but I don't imagine you'll be able to get your hands a piece to make a d20 out of. For those that don't know tugtupite, it changes colour when exposed to sunligt (turns deep red), and then returns to light pink when put back in the shadow to cool.

i like how he said a single loss of focus can "change the direction" rather than "ruin". a big part of creating artwork is being able to be spontaneous and not give up if you encounter a setback or make an unexpected mistake; sometimes what you think is "ruined" is actually something you can make even better than you ever thought you could once it's finished. ❤
It would be EPIC if you did a long form video of the process. I like the compressed, shorter format videos you make, but long one would be great, the whole thing is just so satisfying to watch and 8 minutes is not enough to fill the craving!
A piece of transparent Calcite could look really interesting as a die because of it's birefringence! I'd love to see one cut.

8+ hours into 8 minutes, now THAT'S compression! Nice work on the D20, beautiful as always!
Being a little dragon myself, I'm always gonna be interested to see what sort of stones you'll work with and what they'll look like at the end. I love stones that have hidden depths to their color - obsidians with deep greens or purples that only show up in the right lighting, anything with a shift in its color, cat's eyes, starbursts, etc. That said, I wonder what a watermelon tourmaline d20 would look like? Would they be harder to cut because of the pink/green barrier? I honestly don't know, but since I'm from one of the places that particular tourmaline comes from (Maine) I am always down to see people work with it. That and I'm constantly fascinated by how many kinds and shades of garnet there are.
Your craft is absolutely stunning and i love the presentation and the makro shots! As far as synthetic materials go i would love to see a blue sapphire die. The synthetic materials are so clear that it would look absolutely stunning in the right light. The synthetic materials are available in rough chunks for not that much money for what the non synthetic ones would cost (without shipping of course)
A full (themed) dice set would be awesome!
this is the prettiest d20 i've ever seen 🥺

I would love to see you turn Rogerly Fluorite into a D20!! It's normally a plain green fluorite, but glows a vibrant royal blue under UV, and in sunlight it transitions from green to that blue color!! It would look absolutely beautiful, and it's a great hardness for workability and will hold up as a die too
Rolling with the punches and working with a mistake rather than starting again is like art; good job, and very nice end piece! If amber with something inside is possible that could be cool. Or maybe like a shark tooth or something. I suppose those materials might be too soft. Looking forward to these synthetic photonically interesting materials!
Love these videos, can’t wait to see more when they come!
There’s a master Smith, I watch named Kyle, Royer, fantastic blacksmith, and he talked about how he had worked hours on a knife and then messed up the fit up. So because he did that he made a spacer that he could fit up separately to the guard and tang, and it made the knife even more beautiful. That’s how you know someone is a professional at their craft, they can turn a mess up into a feature.
Beautiful as usual. I always get so excited when I see that you’ve posted a new video.

As a geologist I appreciate your videos on two levels. One is just for their aesthetic beauty. But the other is for they bring crystallography to life. In our mineralogy class in college we first had to learn about crystals so we studied crystal classes, systems, forms and symmetry elements. We learned why the platonic dodecahedron and icosahedron cannot exist as true crystals (due to their 5-fold symmetry elements). I haven't seen all your videos, but have you done a cube truncated by both an octahedron and rhombic dodecahedron?
