Grace, Once you have done the composite and resin layering, you NEED to put it in a vaccum chamber. This is because the resin contains air while getting it mixed. Either put the resin in the vacuum chamber before layering or after. You can also do that by wrapping it in a plastic bag on one side, Sealing it off then sucking out the air. You could also put it in an Autoclave but I don't know at what temperature you should hold the Autoclave at for the type of wood you used. That way you'd have a more sturdy and yet a lightweight snowboard.

Looks to me like your wood core was a tad too thick for that bend and those clamps couldn't provide enough clamping force. Next try you should park your car on top of the press lol. Or use screw clamps. They have a lot more clamping force cuz mechanical advantage.

You once changed the density of wood by sticking it submerged in water in a vacuum chamber could you do the same thing with molten metal that's below the flash point of wood which is 300° C. Would it absorb the metal? I think that would be cool. You'd need to make a seal that allows the cord of a hotplate to go through. Then you need a pot and metals/alloys.

Interesting idea, but have you considered the rigidity of plywood? She’d have to park a car on it (a heavy one) to get it to shape correctly. I was thinking multiple thinner layers (basically making her own plywood), but maybe that’s too heavy in aggregate.

    1) IDK what drama is happening on the TKOR set, but when I subbed, I didn't think I was subbing to The Grace Show. No offense Grace, but you work better as a team, and at this point in your KZread career, you can't carry the show by yourself. 2) if what I've read about the main drama points is true, you can do WAY better. You're a scientist and a model. Get it together and find a new path that skips the drama.
