    I love how you said "Limit" where you put the gear/plugins! Most dont seem to understand that most studio that make good music don't have millions of outboard gear like that. The craftmanship was being creative and making due with what they had and create "A SOUND THATS SOUNDS GOOD", not the same sound as everyone else! Keep it up Dave, good work!

    This is great. I really notice a difference in guitar when it’s done digitally sounding vs old analog recordings from the 70’s and 80’s

    I like the idea of the DAW itself emulating the old analog studio. I find myself defaulting to setting my workflow to do what you've described. Great info David.

    Good stuff!! :) There is one trick I did when we were short of a particular piece of gear. We would commit a recording to track through the gear we were short on. But you'd better know what you are doing cus it will be permanent. lol😁

    Cakewalk by Bandlab has 3 different channel strips and it's a free DAW. Also comes with a ssl,1176 and la2a stock compressors and a tape emulator. Only drawback is it's a PC only DAW. Anyway great video thank you for the tips!

    I've been doing this for a while. I built a 6SN7GT tube preamp complete with tube distortion and selectable 'age' (noise, etc.) Also, I'm developing the heart and soul of these gain stages, a digital transformer in /.out complete with the all important transformer phase shift. Writing my own plugins guarantees what's inside 'em. I like to know what I'm working with. Bill P.

    Great vid! Some will likely say “Skip all this and buy Harrison MixBus”. I’ve no experience with their DAW though, but it’s supposed to be a great DAW with an analog flavor.

    Hey Dave, love your show. you know i was thinking you should make a video on the cheapest way to get analog gear to make a true analog studio! Can you do one of those. Like research what setup would give the people without million $$$$ to have a shot at studio gear that they could combine and have a competitive studio!

    I watched your video again and again and now I understand the signal flow of using proper channel strips to get that perfect analog sound, I'm no more using fat channel now I'm using the SSL Native channel strip. I wanted to ask you for drum parallel which compressor is ideal to support this signal flow of analog or can I use any compressor for my parallel, I want to stick to how the analog engineers did it? I think I will use the 33609 I just saw Chris Lord use it. But you can please give me other choices as well.

  • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy

    You can use nay compressor for parallel and that is what I do myself. There is a method to the way I work with these plugins and I highly recommend you checking out this course: www.homerecordingmadeeasy.com/mixing-with-analog-style-plugins

    Also, i may seem stupid and think i know the answer but here it goes! When you're in StudioOne and open plugin list some plugins have a "m" beside them, what is the "m" for? Also, on a mono channel do you have to use mono plugins, or does it matter?

  • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy

    @HomeRecordingMadeEasy

    Жыл бұрын

    thats exactly what it means and yes it matters. On a mono track use a mono plugin and on a stereo track use a stereo plugin. If you need further Studio One training I have these available to help you www.homerecordingmadeeasy.com/presonus-studio-one-training

    Another question I want to ask is if you want to save CPU instead of putting all channels strips on all your tracks can you bounce the tracks in place and process them with the channel strips then deactivate the tracks with channel stips and use the processed stems which you will run through the tape atleats that way you save CPU, will that affect the quality of the stems if done that way? 23:00

    @@HomeRecordingMadeEasy cool no problem bro. I decided to go with the studio one Fat channel atleats my CPU is not affected, since watching your video I realised that I must start using the Fat channel strip for the perfect signal flow, I only used the console shaper only before.
