Turn Any Speaker into AirPlay 2 Speaker (Belkin Soundform Connect)

Ғылым және технология

Last month, Belkin introduced the Soundform Connect Audio Adapter with AirPlay 2, letting users turn their traditional speakers into AirPlay 2-enabled devices.
We recently had a chance to spend some time with the accessory, so check out our latest video for a look at the setup process, using standalone speakers via ‌AirPlay‌, and integrating those speakers into a whole-home setup with other ‌AirPlay‌ 2 speakers.

They don't work well. Audio sync is unusable for video so you cant use it for that and Apple homekit compatibility is 50/50 at best. Probably one of the worst products Belkin has made. Save your money, you have to reset it after every apple homekit or os update and HOPE that Belkin has updated the firmware in good time to follow (your speakers wont work again until they do.)

Hi, I'm looking to invest in a few of these to go around different speakers in the house. But before I do I have a question ? I currently have a Sonos set up with some with Airplay 2. Currently if i go to the Sonos 5 I airplay from my phone and then go to my Sonos app group the other Sonos products like soundbar , Port & Connect and it will play through all of these at the same time. So my question is if I go to my phone and connect to the play 5 and the soundform audio connector will i still be able to link to my other Sonos speakers as long as the play 5 and the sound form are playing through Airplay 2 at the same time ?

But your Data still travels over WiFi with AirPlay. Using the Ethernet Port on your Airplay Express only means that the connection between the Airplay Express and your Router is wired. The connection between your Smartphone and your Router is still WiFi. Airplay is no separate frequency or so. It's just Apples protocol to share Data between device over standard Wifi. In fact when using Airplay between two wireless Apple Devices it's even a peer to peer connection and both devices are talking directly over WiFi. If you have for example an Apple TV, it will use this direct Wifi Connection for AirPlay even if you have it plugged in via the Ethernet port. This method is used by apple for many other functions like AirDrop or when setting up a new device etc. The devices don't have to be connected to the internet oder any local network but they are still using WiFi. The great thing about it being only software is that you can add Airplay to many devices like an out-of-the-box raspberry pi for example only by installing a small program. And of course: if theoretically both devices only would use ethernet then you would have a wired "AirPlay" connection but that is not the use case for the Belkin Device and it wouldn't make any sense for most projects of this kind because you then would be much happier with connecting your Source (iPhone, Amp etc.) via cable directly to a proper DAC connected to your Speakers.

2.4 Ghz Wifi got congested fast if you had neighbors because it only had 3 non-overlapping channels. 5Ghz has 24-non-overlapping channels and it's signal doesn't travel through walls as easily as 2.4Ghz so congestion because of multiple people with their Wifi networks is MUCH less of an issue than 10 years ago.
