Turn 1 Camera Into 3 Angles! Convergent Design Titan Extract Review

Фильм және анимация

Today we play with the Convergent Design Titan Extract feature! This recorder option turns a single 4K camera into 3 angles which can be recorded AND live switched! Great for youtube videos, live and recorded events or any other video application where you need more angles.
You can use the Titan Extract feature on the following Convergent Design recorders:
Apollo Video Recorder
Amazon (PAID LINK): geni.us/c52zo
B&H: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...
7Q+ Video Recorder
Amazon (PAID LINK): geni.us/3RTTTi5
B&H: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...
For a more in-depth look at the Titan feature, check out this video: • Video
Here is how this video recorder feature works.
Titan takes a 4K input (HDMI or SDI) and it creates 3 different HD (1080p) recordings. The first recording is of the full image downscaled to 1080p. The second and third recordings are 1080p crops from the 4K image that you can move around.
You can record the 3 1080p files and switch between then. Pretty nifty! When you import the files you'll be able to see all three angles and a file that has all the live switches or a quad split view.

Good video buddy. I think some people aren’t realizing that this does much more than just the Titan feature and is priced accordingly. Still not in my price range, but I may try to find a used 7q+. Wish Atomos did this. We are thinking about starting a podcast so the Titan feature would be nice to try out and could work well for filming it instead of using 3 cameras.

I'm still wondering why cant this be done (easily) in software ? ive been looking for something that takes 4k footage and lets you record automation with either a joystick or keyboard to create realtime pan/crop from 4k to render at 1080.. does this exist ? I know you can manually set keyframes but that's tedious with long recordings..

I'm going to have to disagree with you about Caleb not engaging his viewers. It's possible your comment might of gotten lost in the mix or he had a lot going on in RL. Every now and then, he replies and make great suggestion to us. Give it a shot and ask your question again...you never know.

CLUTCH1st I didn't say he doesn't engage his viewers. I said I kinda think he isn't active on there (twitter). Either way he doesn't have to comment or reply back to anyone. I do know from watching him for a while that he will often neglect even people who have paid for his tutorials and things like that, and that's just from reading comments. So, maybe it's better to ask someone who does, someone like idk Curtis Judd.

Hi guys! Caleb is a great dude but he obviously doesn't have the time to be responsive. Long before he hit the 200k subscriber numbers he became less and less present in any threads his videos initiated. It's the pace of his production that's time consuming, lots of video to make, guides to produce, company to run, young family... and he's still in the basement of his house doing allt his. I actually needed help regarding some of his videos a year or so ago, and I thought, OK, he must be busy so I'll grab him a 10USD coffee /donate from his contact form on the website, and I've also bought one of his guides, but he wouldn't respond first. I then waited a decent amount of time and send him another message reminding him of this (that felt awkward) , and _then_ he replied. He was up to his neck with work, my email ended up in a pile and so on. And I totally get it, and since then I've bought some more stuff (G85 guide after the G7 guide I purchased earlier) and actually stopped trying to contact him, not more than to thank for a terrific job. I mean, I truly appreciate what he's doing, it's a _lot_ of work maintaining the filming and releasing schedule, finding material, only other Tubers can understand how much hard work lies behind his relaxed style and very well edited videos. We others, who are just maybe starting or thinking of starting or whatever, yeah, we often need help, and wouldn't it be great to just hit it off with a great KZreadr and get your question answered in a day or two? I'm subscribed to scary many channels and it's most often the Tubers with around 60-70k subscribers who still manage to run _some_ kind of conversation in the comment section, but even those kind of... leave after maybe 5-10 replies, being quite selective what they answer to. Back to Caleb's channel. @Clutch1st is asking about the GH4 here and with all due respect for your urge to getting an answer, there actually is one, on Caleb's channel, just go to the root of DSLRVideo Shooter and do a search. He's done many videos on GH4 and you could also search for "GH4 still good value"? on KZread and there are tons of videos. My take is - yes, and no, always depending on what you want to do. Please find this great video on GH4 buy by a true YT gentleman David Thorpe: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4qJs6ubf7uuYJc.html and also this is my initial YT search on the subject: kzread.info?search_query=GH4+still+good+value Have a great one everybody!

Obviously you wouldn’t just buy it for that Titan option unless you’re into live streaming. It’s also a recorder and you can do true multi cam setups with it. For the rest of us it’s just a cool option to have. I’ve been trying to decide between the 7q+ and the ninja inferno. The Titan feature may be worth the extra 500 bucks to me.

Convergent Design with their Recorders have absolutely no reason for customers to buy their products compared to Atomos except the lots of sdi inputs and the feature shown in this video. Atomos have better ui, better look, better software and nearly same features for a fraction of the prize. This feature is just software btw so Atomos should be able to add it by a future update :-)
