I appreciate that! I still have plans to, I’m just trying to figure out how it all fits in my daily grind. I’m making videos every day for a living, so finding the time and energy to make my own personal projects can be difficult.

Very helpful video, not sure why you stopped making videos but this was well done and we need more from you!
This is awesome, I taught myself to do the exact same thing so I was wondering if anyone else had learned this trick as well.
You are most welcome Sam, my man! I am looking forward to your future videos on YT!

Glad you liked it! One thing I really wish I covered but forgot to: You will want to record your sound externally if you are able and sync it up in editing. If the sound is coming from your camera, it will sound further away when you move your camera. There are great tutorials on how to do this if you need help!

Thank you! Totally forgot to mention this, but make sure you record your audio externally and sync it, or at least find a way to keep the mic close to you for all takes. If the audio comes from The camera, it will sound far away when you move the camera. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

It seems that with 1 camera or multiple cameras, impeccable timing wins the day. Of course 1 camera is easier on the budget rentals, but rapid-fire dialogue or repartee shot live with multiple cameras to a live mix on the fly or livestream with ISOs should be easier to get to a final product with less editing time. Both have merits to stay in budget.
Should we shoot our video 3 times with 3 angles
Sam, do you have any other places online where you are producing content? Even if it is for clients. I just want to check out your work. I have a feeling you are doing great stuff. Pretty please.
Sam, this was very helpful. How did you do the script animation with the moving highlights?
@samueljwalter
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, my guy. This video makes me cringe so much, so I appreciate the kind word! Haha The animations were done in after effects. I think the highlights are just rectangles with their blend mode set to let the black text show through. The blend modes are usually somewhere around the opacity slider. I probably lowered the opacity a touch as well to make them more transparent. The animations were done by key framing the width property of the rectangles. I set the anchor point to the far left side of each rectangle so they would scale correctly from left to right. I also “easy-eased” the animation so they would have that smooth look. Sorry if that all sounded like rocket science. If you are new to animation, there are def some great tutorials online that will touch on all the things I wrote about. How that helps!

So sorry I'm just seeing this. This is a great question and something I overlooked when I made the video a few years back. It is best to record your audio externally, meaning with a microphone that is not plugged into the camera. You can see in the wide shot that I have a book mic above my head. This way, the audio sounds the same no matter where the camera is. I can't believe I overlooked that!
Can you do this with a camera phone?
Excellent video from visual, sound to presentation and tutorial. Very pleasing to the eye and ear! Great job buddy!

How do I create the script
thanks. I never want to film from one angle because its such an amateur move
Sam, I'm hoping you can help me! I want to film 2 camera angles simultaneously. I'm a teacher, and have to teach online due to covid-19. I want to read a story and have my face on one 'view' and the book on another angle. I can do this via Zoom using my ipad. But zoom only records the "host's" camera feed. I've been trying a work-around using Photobooth and Quick Time player. (I'm a Mac person!) I've seen a KZread clip of another teacher using Quick Time to record her SCREEN where both camera angles are playing in separate programs! BUT....unfortunately when I plug my phone (Oppo) or my hubby's iphone in, the QuickTime player doesn't recognise them, so they don't show up on the little menu next to the 'record' button (i.e. the downward arrow menu). So I still can't get the second camera angle up onto my computer screen! Any suggestions please?? :) I need a quick, fail-safe hack so i can record lessons etc. i don't have time to edit multiple clips and sinc them etc. :) Thanks!

Help me to understand your situation a little bit better. Is the book an ebook? Assuming your Mac has a working webcam, you can do this through QuickTime. Open up QuickTime, select "File > New Movie Recording." This should make your webcam appear. Resize and position your webcam so that it is big enough to see your face, but small enough to not obstruct the text. Then, go to "View" and make sure "float on top" is checked. This will keep your webcam on screen no matter what application you are using. Finally, go back to "File" and click "new screen recording." Follow the instructions on the screen and you should now have a recording being made of your webcam and the ebook on the screen. To end the recording, just go up to "File" and there should be a prompt to end the recording. Hope that helps!
Really AWESOME video, especially the advice about the script! That was *very* valuable. Too bad you stopped! If you come back I'll be your first new subscriber!

Good observation. Best if you record it externally and sync it up in post. Let me know if you needed any help with that! More videos on the way!

The trouble is that angles where the presenter is talking, but not looking at the camera, but way past it, totally suck.

Aswin m good question. Something I wish I had brought up. You will need to record your audio externally for the best outcome. You can set up a microphone like the one you can see in the wide shot, or you can just put your phone nearby with voice memos open if you are on a budget. You will have to sync up the audio in your editing software, but there are plenty of great tutorials online that can explain that in more detail.

For a music video, it would probably be best to pre record the music, then shoot several takes from different angles pretending to play along. Then you could line up the clips to the original track. There are plenty of great tutorials online for making music videos like that!
