Best cheap skunk defense, get the bigger container of cayenne powder at the store and put a nice helping of powder anywhere you want a barrier, I typically do it around my trash cans/area. Doesn’t last more than a day or two but should work for short term camping

Public land is tough in the Carolinas! Im 63, killed over 80 birds, and I have found that in similar terrain, best bet is to not waste time up high...Yes they lots time roost high, but at flydown make there ways down in the bottom hollers and bowls where its quiet and safe....Was in west TN on public once, and after chasing for two days realized just that...Flew down every time and went low! Keep plugging!

I brought along a device that I jokingly call my hollering can once when a buddy and I went to do some preseason locating. It is an old metal coffee can with a string ran through a hole in the bottom of the can. There are knots tied at the end so the string can't pull out of it. I use a glove dusted with powdered pine resin and pull my hand along the string. It makes the most god awful roaring noise ever. We had tried everything we knew of to get a gobble that morning with no success. My buddy says "hell, git that hollering can out and try that, ain't nothing else got em going". So I did. By the second stroke on that thing EVERYTHING in those woods went absolutely silent. He says "HELLFIRE AND JEZUS! You even made the crickets shut up"! He wasn't wrong. There were 2 old men out on the main Forrest Service Road listening when we went in the road we were on. We heard them fire their truck and leave out of there like they were running a rally car race! To this day I still LMAO every time I think about that. I still have that can, but I sure as hell ain't never tried using it for a locater call again.🤣🤣🤣🤣

The clowning and ‘farting’ around is moderately amusing on occasion…but when it’s coupled with back-to-back Nothing Burger episodes…it begins to feel like a wasted 20 minutes that you can’t get back. Ol’ “Curl” looks irritated most of the time…Hayden tries…Zach carries the episode…Looking forward to Warb, Ted, Jake and Greg to get the true THP chemistry back. This episode and the last were far from entertaining or educational. When the most exciting moment is a skunk coming to camp…probably want to rethink posting OR simply drop it in as a Short. Long time subscriber…huge fan of the channel and podcasts…just seems like the past two episodes weren’t the usual quality of work.
