The Turbowheel Phaeton is an awesome monster electric scooter, and one of the fastest escooters of 2020. It's in the same classes as other power scooters like Dualtron, Weped and Rion. It's got an amazing Ohlins damper, fantastic suspension, and hydraulic brakes. This high performance scooter is guaranteed to put a smile on your fast as you accelerate to around 60mph.

We're to the point where a scooter with this kind of performance should really do away with folding stem. They tend to be a liability on all scooters and 50mph is not the place to fool around

@@AlienRides i agree they're nice to have on portable devices, but you could easily improve safety and lower the cost of high performance rides. IMO holding onto that bastion of portability is holding back high end high performance scooters. Like it's trying to pretend that it's something that it isn't. I'm not saying remove the option on all scooters, but one of these hyper car edition scooters really needs all the strength possible. Removing that common fail point is a huge benefit

@@AlienRides not quite the same, but you should see some of the roads out here in Texas. It's scary even in a car sometimes. I'm thinking of sections of I-10 and other roads where they poured them with concrete slabs. After a while instead of concrete slabs you had concrete ramps. Some of the roads in downtown Houston are pretty terrible and out here in Dallas. But I also kicked around on skateboards and older kick scooters, not to mention my first EV, a razor electric scooter with a friction drive motor that went a whole 15 mph. That thing was fun but you really had to be careful on those little 6-in wheels. Then I got a gas powered one that had 12-in wheels and disc brakes. there were some bumps around my place that would jar the teeth out of your head. I could get that one up to 45 mph. It was pretty cool, the angriest two-cycle motor you ever heard.

I knew it! Everyone told me I "had the modes wrong" when I only got this thing to ~52mph! It's still a fast scooter, but nothing from the Zero/turbowheel/Apollo lineup can get 60mph. Yet. Another thing. I believe the steering dampener was on backwards on your scooter. When you steer the bar should protrude toward the front. When I measured the actual diameter of the inflated tires it was more like 10 ¹/² inches, which accounts for the speed difference between advertised and actual. P.S. that drone footage in the fog is epic, well done mate.

The panther can be fitted with an excellent proprietary damper (errex damper), and replacing the original deck by a larger one goes a long way to improve its overall stability. Made in korea will largely outlast any made in china rebrands so that's better for an urban commute oriented escooter. On the other hand the inverted C suspension chinese TG rebrands like the phaeton are exceptionally fun as an off road beater.

Had the same issue on the Kaabo Mantis 8 showing incorrect speedo readings. You could check the number of magnets on the P settings. Adjusting that will also make a huge difference. I had to adjust mine down from 30 to 20 and now my speedo virtually matches the GPS readings. Hope it works for you!

@@Ptoksik be careful with those settings bro the amount of magnets may affect your Speedo reading but regardless you need to tune that with tire diameter. You need the speed controller to accurately know the actual number of magnets in the motor. Its a brushless system bro dont lie to your controller unless you want extra resistance less range and more heat in your components all bad but hey at least you have your Speedo reading correct?

I did not have to. I believe the problem is only when you're running in single motor mode can it suffer from blown fuses. Since I was always running in dual motor mode, it splits the current so the fuses can handle it.

The controller is 45amp, the fuses are 40amp. As the voltage drops, the amp pull increases (plus heat). The wires from the BMS to the xt90 connectors are a bit undersized. From there on, they are correct gauge.

Cool video! I love the lighting in the fog look. It is great to see another power scooter. For me a scooter should remain at least somewhat portable or I would rather have something like an Onyx RCR or a Zero motorbike to go above 40MPH. I have very limited room to store my PEVs in the garage so I have to be very mindful of space. Even folded down the Phaeton would be difficult to put in the back of my SUV without the seats folded down. The Thunder can at least fold down into a pretty small space since it also has folding handlebars and a much better folding mechanism in general. It says a lot that you think it is comparable to a Thunder as I have found Dualtrons to just feel more solid compared to other scooters I have experienced. I have the Nikola 100V coming this week as I switched from the MSP since it won't be available until the end of this month. It will stand next to my Dualtron Compact neatly in the garage. The Compact barely takes up more space than a small commuter scooter when it is folded. I sold my Mantis and gave away a couple more scooters so I have cleared up space :) I almost have my 3" ducted cinema quadcopter ready to go. I just need a few more parts. It will have the ability to carry a GoPro for better video quality while still having digital video coming back to my goggles. It should easily hit 65MPH so it should be able to chase down most PEVs. It would be cool to get some low shots of your speeding and do some quick acrobatics around you to get a different shot. I always wanted to fly through a group of riders with my smaller, prop-guarded quads to get a unique shot without introducing a big threat with exposed propellers like my bigger quads would introduce.

  • @AlienRides

Yeah, good point about the huge size of the Phaeton and storage, not everyone can fit a beast like this. As you can see my garage is already suffering 😅 Awesome about the Nikola, let me know how you find it. When you're ready, let's go film something with your drone. I'm sure we can gather a small group of riders and setup shots. Maybe we can do a music video with some of that footage? Would be fun!

Truly great info on the LUDO’s controller. I’m all about this possibly rare diamond in our scooter world. Seems like it could maybe be a one-time chance to get a scooter with both linear accel AND E-braking. In the video the owners said that they blew up and burned up a lotta stuff before getting that controller harnessed. Also, of note, RION was interested in the same controller, but haven’t to date, been able to incorporate it into their line. That controller is probably a hand grenade, just waiting to explode. LOVE IT. I’m 66 years old. When I go out, I want it to be riding on a hand grenade at 60 miles an hour, with my hair on fire...

@@ToHaru-Chan Yea I live in VT where dirt roads (where most ppl live) get plowed every 2 days at best and icy snow gets impacted/frozen on them so even driving is dangerous. if I bought this NOW, it'd have until maybe mid october before it starts snowing and this thing becomes useless/a death machine, and would have to wait (or risk breaking my neck) until mid april or so. Oh and you have to be at work in 45 mins and its 0F out at 7am, and the sun still isnt up. Imagine trying to go 60mph down that. THATS what i'd be asking for by buying this. Srsly, buy a used car, this thing is for rich city kids that want to be "adventerous" that day, it wouldn't work 6 months out of the year where its actually needed. im literally better off buying a $1000 landmine of a car and practicing in that. it'd be 1/3 the price XD
