It was a miracle to make it to the track with 1CleanT. 3 weeks before the event, the engine was removed to repair oil leaks and the 4l80e transmission was removed to install a new converter that was spec’d out by Dusty Bradford.
From there I reached out to Extreme Auto Restoration (Fayetville Ga) for touch up paint. I met them at the SEMA show last year and fell in love with thier work. Well….Touch up paint quickly transitioned into a full paint job. These folks laid down a complete restoration paint job in 10 days, and my car came out fantastic. More videos to come on that. Once we got the car back, we put the car back together in 3 days, and made it just in time to the 2022 GS nationals. Literally showed up to the racw with 0 miles on the combination. First pass was a success! 9.50 in the middle of the heat? Damn 1CleanT is rolling baby!!!!!! Everyone else was struggling to make it into the 9’s. 2nd pass we put it on kill🤫 and found a weak link. The cross over pipe cracked. Easy fix, and we’ll be back for more.
On the other hand, huge congrats to Darrow Watts (Haulz A) for placing #1 qualifier in the Turbo Hot Street Class. This is a very competive class and each member is limited to a 67mm 3-bolt turbo, 2.5” exhaust, 200-4R transmission, and must have the stock rearend housing. Track conditions weren’t the best, weather wasnt ideal for racing, but we put our minds together and found a way to make the car hook, while laying down decent power. In the end, Darrow made it to the finals, and came in 2nd against Brian Lorenz (owner of Lorenz Racing & Performance). Congrats to Brian on the well deserved win.
In conclusion, we want to thank everyone for the love and support. It means a-lot to me. Team Watts will be back even stronger next year.
