The Tunisian government has lifted a decades-old ban on Muslim women marrying non-Muslim men, but the decision is facing opposition from religious leaders.

I personally find it very unfair that men can marry whoever they fancy and women cannot. When a muslim woman in Europe struggle to find a suitable partner and cannot find it within muslim community, so what is left for her? Does she not have the right for happiness too? Taking into account that finding a suitable man within muslim community is not even guaranted because many of them do not qualify for marriage because of their behaviour, background, and so on... So, what is more important a good husband from abrahmic faith at least or spending the rest of your life lonely, miserable....?

So this is coming from a muslim woman, I've red a lot of articles on this matter and it's says that the interpretation was given by scholars (men) no surprise, and there are no explicit verses in the quran that says women cannot marry non-muslim "believers" and the scholars interpretation was accepted for centuries. So I can understand that centuries ago it made sense but in today's society women are not dependent to a man but they are independent. And more islam is a religion of balance and equality, so if muslim men can so it's a given that muslim women can too. This should be open for debate to come to a conclusion but sadly it's a taboo topic. And said this i would like to point out that this is MY opinion.

In small regards, because technically if Christians follows, christianity properly, Jesus was a Jew,Jews do not eat Pork and drink alcohol.. She might want to fast, during Ramadan. If you love her, as much as you say, then you should know Islam, you do not have to practice it, but atleast know what it pertains. It, will show her that you love and respect her beliefs. Because you love her. I am Muslim, but I will not marry a Muslim man. I would have to watch my back the whole time, for wife nr2,3,4..some even go over that amount. They were to marry for a reason, most men, just takes advantage, they can't even support their wives and children equally. Anyway, I do not think I would be marrying anyone, I am way too independent and stubborn. Imams need to explain clear where in Quran forbidden for women to marrying non Muslim men but it’s ok for men!!! If they talk about surah al maidah, people of the book means women , why saying people of the book then ?? Not women of the book ? Few surah mentions “people of the book” means both men / women . Why when it comes to marriage , scholars/imams change the words “people of the book” as “women of the book”?? So what happen with animal slaughter by people of the book? Only men can eat it not women? So they cherry pick when it come about food, they put “people of the book” and both men/ women allow to eat from them BUT when about marriage , they put women of the book so only men can marry women of the book 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 I hope all imams/ scholars not fair and lie about Islam forbidding women but allowing men only , they all will take responsibility in after life. All women in the world will ask justice.

Lets be fair it's not like the angel Gabriel told Mohamed to ban people from marrying jews or christians, it's something cultural that has been added later due to fear of them leaving their faiths. Was the same for my jewish grandfather marrying my catholic nan. Basically banned him from going to temple and disowned him from the community. My nans family found it equally as bad marrying a non catholic. No prophet to my understanding has ever mentioned its a sin to marry anyone else from other parts of the book and it seems it's just the prerogative of certain religious leaders using fear and shame to control populations. Actually makes sense for us all to intermarry as that is the only way true alliances can be created and a way for us all to get along.

So I can understand that centuries ago it made sense but in today's society women are not dependent to a man but they are independent. And more islam is a religion of balance and equality, so if muslim men can so it's a given that muslim women can too. This should be open for debate to come to a conclusion but sadly it's a taboo topic.

If you’re religious then don’t ever marry outside your faith regardless if it’s a man or a woman. I would have the woman convert to Christianity but then again I wouldn’t marry outside my race either. I want my children to resemble my parents, follow my religion, eat my cuisine, speak my language and follow my customs and traditions. So I can’t fault the clerics in following their rules but I won’t make others (outside my family) adhere to my wishes. I follow what is in my interests and the others can do as they wish.
