If a Muslim man is allowed to marry a non-Muslim woman (which will guarantee children to be Muslim by default according to Islamic Law) a non-Muslim man should be allowed to marry a Muslim woman and at least allow their children to choose what religion they want. Also, if a Christian or anyone is allowed to become Muslim, a Muslim should be free to become a Christian or whatever they desire. This is true equality, I'm happy to see Tunisia make a step in the right direction!

@Kunal Patil well honey kunal i suppose you’re of south Asian descent right? Well actually it is very popular for non muslim south Asians to marry multiple women. Islam actually places a limit on the number whereas in many cultures men roam around and use and abuse multiple women. In islam, when he married a woman he signs a contract to take care of her financially and physically, which is beneficial to her. I don’t see these rules being put in place to tackle these issues in 2021 yet Islam came with it 1400 years ago. Bye x

First of all, this is very weird writing about this in a comment section, but I just couldn’t help it. I met a good man, such a gentleman, down to earth, intelligent, humble I must say, and funny too! But he’s jewish.. never crossed my mind ever that I’ll even be attracted to a jewish person. But he is hundred times more well mannered than any muslim men I’ve met.. and when we talk, I can communicate well with him and it felt like we connect on deeper level. There are some differences on culture, views, yeah, but I would imagine there will be too, with men in general. Even with muslim men. I’m praying that Allah will open his heart to the straight path.. if not, may He fasten what is better for me and him..

I really don’t get this. Surely as a Muslim woman you’d want to marry a Muslim man (and vice versa) - you’d think a couple’s core beliefs should be aligned. How can you marry someone who doesn’t believe in the same things as you? - especially because Islam has such a specific lifestyle involved (daily prayers, fasting, donating to charity, not drinking alcohol etc.) Unless, the majority of Tunisian people don’t identify with their religion? The only reason i can think of this happening is that there is a shortage of Muslim men in Tunisia? Or maybe just lifting the ban is nice so that people are free to make their own choices? Respectful discussion only please as I genuinely would like to hear others (no trolls) opinions on this regardless of religious beliefs :)

TC1TheOrginal indeed Quran didn’t give permission nor prohibition. Muslim are recommended to marry within religion but Islam is religion of freedom and love. “There’s no compulsion in religion” -Quran. Marry whoever you want as long as they aren’t associating Allah with other idols.

This is so wrong, to maintain purity of faith and propagate each religious views one generation after another interfaith marraiges should be banned and forbidden. Marraige is and always will be a religious thing, if you think it's not then why bother at all getting married right. Preservation of religion is also our responsibility. Children of interfaith marriages grow up with contradicting views, confused and then try to tweak religious customs thus adultering the religion or become atheist. This can cause extinction of a religion.

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. And a believing slave woman is better than a polytheist, even though she might please you. And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe. And a believing slave is better than a polytheist, even though he might please you. Those invite [you] to the Fire, but Allah invites to Paradise and to forgiveness, by His permission. And He makes clear His verses to the people that perhaps they may remember. YUSUF ALI “Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters), until they believe: A slave woman who believes is better than an unbelieving woman, even though she allures you. Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But Allah beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise. ABUL ALA MAUDUDI Do not marry mushrik women unless they believe; a slave woman who believes is better than a free woman who does not believe, even though the latter may appear very attractive to you. (Likewise) do not wed your women to mushrik men unless they believe; a slave man who believes is better than a free man who does not, even though he may be very pleasing to you. These mushrik people invite you to the Fire while Allah by His grace invites you to the Garden and His pardon, and He makes His revelations plain to the people so that they should learn a lesson and follow the admonition. MUHSIN KHAN And do not marry Al-Mushrikat (idolatresses, etc.) till they believe (worship Allah Alone). And indeed a slave woman who believes is better than a (free) Mushrikah (idolatress, etc.), even though she pleases you. And give not (your daughters) in marriage to Al-Mushrikun till they believe (in Allah Alone) and verily, a believing slave is better than a (free) Mushrik (idolater, etc.), even though he pleases you. Those (Al-Mushrikun) invite you to the Fire, but Allah invites (you) to Paradise and Forgiveness by His Leave, and makes His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to mankind that they may remember. PICKTHALL Wed not idolatresses till they believe; for lo! a believing bondwoman is better than an idolatress though she please you; and give not your daughters in marriage to idolaters till they believe, for lo! a believing slave is better than an idolater though he please you. These invite unto the Fire, and Allah inviteth unto the Garden, and unto forgiveness by His grace, and expoundeth His revelations to mankind that haply they may remember. DR. GHALI And do not marry female associators (Those who associate others with Allah) until they believe; and indeed a believing bondwoman is more charitable than a female associator, even if you may admire her. And do not (allow) associators to marry (your females) until they believe. And indeed a believing bondman is more charitable than an associator, even if you may admire him. Those call to the Fire, and Allah calls to the Garden and forgiveness, by His permission, and He makes evident His signs to mankind, that possibly they would remind themselves.

May Allah destroy the tunisian government and those tunisian women who want this law, Allah give them hidayah.
