Tuning the hki mini dsp
Фильм және анимация
This is a brief tutorial on how to tune the HKI mini DSP. It’s not exact, as it’s hard to completely explain everything but it’s a great general overview! Feel free to ask me any questions in the comments.
One Mistake I did make is that you can slide the EQ screen over to see more bands! When I learned this I went back and readjusted mine.

Thanks for making this video. It really helped me to understand how to set up the HKI Mini on my CVO. I all my channels were set to A and it sounded like crap. I just ordered a microphone to run Pink noise through my stereo to make the final adjustments.

@ACT audio what settings you have for 2 6.5 db drive moto (not bridged)

Try 80hz That is solid for most 6.5 speakers.
I’m trying to learn how to adjust my HKI already on my bike. But changing things out still need to retune it.

Audio controls but you can use any of them
How do you set the gains? Hopefully not by ear and it’s as easy as a amp and you use a 1khz 0db test tone and maybe a DD1 or if the DSP app has a clipping indicator for setting gains at max volume
@actaudiollc306

I use multiple tools An o scope to ensure I’m not clipping and a DMM to ensure the right voltage is coming out to match the speaker
Thank you

I know this is an older video but I’ve been looking for how to properly use/set the limiter feature. Lots of DSP’s have it but I haven’t found a video that talks about it… great video though

Woofers are only good for parking lots, I’m building this bike for me and long distance rides. Also I needed it to be functional for long distance rides and if you do subs you really need to build them into the bags and seal them off. But with bass on a bike once you start moving it goes away
Isn’t the dip at 2500hz because the crossover for highs to mids is centered on that frequency? Each of those crossovers have slope that’s minimizing the energy at 2500.

Thats possible, many times I'll spread it out so I leave 500 hz gap. I might of tried it here I cant remember. but I know i couldn't get rid of it
How come all of the equalizer slides are all the same frequency or just blank?

how do I know where to set my crossovers?
@actaudiollc306

it depends on the speakers but it's based on the FS you can google each depending on the speakers you have. A general rule of thumb (safety) 6.5" mid range or coaxial speakers 80 hz horns 3k maybe 3500

@@actaudiollc306 yes, those are the individual channel EQ settings. What about the EQ in, that affects all channels, the selection in the lower left in the HKI app? Thanks
@actaudiollc306
2 жыл бұрын
@@rogerhorton24 so I’m honestly not 100% sure why they do that but my speculation is to correct a radio output. So let’s say you don’t flash the Harley radio (which I don’t recommend), well that will output its own eq curve on all speakers. You can modify the input of the hki mini to be the opposite and balance it out and have a flat start. Then go to the output and fine tune each speaker within its environment
@rogerhorton24
2 жыл бұрын
@@actaudiollc306 that's exactly what I done, use the eq in to flatten. And then the eq channels to further flatten. On the dsp eq channel settings, we can set what frequency we want to adjust. Haven't seen anyone mention that yet. Default is 500Mhz for each. I figured it out, lol. Thank you so much
I thought the HKI had a 31 band eq
@actaudiollc306
2 жыл бұрын
Unless I missed a window it doesn’t. I found two eqs in there one input and one output. Neither had that many. I’ll reach out to the rep tomorrow to make sure I’m not mistaken as it’s the biggest set back on it so far for me.
@actaudiollc306

So I reached out, you can press the screen and slide it down to get more bands! It’s about 28 in total Good shit as I didn’t know that and was a bit disappointed. I’ll have to go back in

You can it’s all about the choice of sound quality. On a bike we want brighter speakers to cut through the air. Some people like that in a car I however personally do not

The 6x9s aren't doing 50hz. Stop it.
@actaudiollc306

And these are playing at 50hz, I have about 1k miles on the bike since then and they get low. The ms69cx are designed to play lower then most 6x9s which is why I picked them over the other 6x9
Also zero point at cutting the tweeters at 20,000. Not hearing anything above 15-16 anyway
@actaudiollc306

Everyone is different why cut them it doesn’t hurt. The amp will naturally roll them off at 20k so let it do it’s job. No need for extra steps
