This Gti has a jb4, so not a real tune. Not trying to take anything away from the 86, but it doesn't look like the Gti driver is very good at shifting. I could be wrong, but that's how it seems.

Both cars are pretty well matched! Awesome video.

lol seriously. Look at 1:26, pulls hard while the brz was winding out second and then just flops. looks like they shifted too early after that as well.

@@basslover352 I mean tbh, the GTI's aren't all that fast either way...My gli (2014 Autobahn, 7k) surely ain't in the wind with my Genesis coupe BK1 3.8 i had, but the GTI driver in this video is pretty inconsistent..He pulls hard then goes full turtle..the GTI's make poor power at low RPM's, but with a bad driver, it's not suprising the BRZ kept up...The DSG is a more consistent winner given the GTI's lack of actual power..

@@notimezforgames1465 The mk6 gti and gli is quite a bit slower than the mk7 mqb platform. Not the same turbo. Mk7 gti would put many cars on your gli. Also they actually have very fat bottom end tq and minimal lag. You get full torque from under 2k rpm all the way until 5 or so. If anything those engines are making significantly more power in low revs than a similar sized na engine. The low end and midrange is actually their strongest trait. It's relative but a tuned mk7 gti can trap 110+ with bolt ons and tune in the 1/4. That's no slouch. Enough to rival stock mustang 5.0's, tuned sti's etc.

@@basslover352 meh, I'm sure the MK7 is faster in most cases, but my GLI autobahn consistently get straight 4.9 to 5.0 0 to 60 times with just a Evil energy 3in/4in muffler alone and negative 75ish degree temps..video link here kzread.info/dash/bejne/haRsvMerZqvHYbA.html and i haven't seen too many non-tuned GLI's put down those times, and it's actually faster than my genny from 0 to 90ish after re-looking at my videos, but i'm a big fan of top end racing, and should of probably went with a Z since i like "top end" power right out the box which my genny did have alot of but hey, it's impressive for just 211 horse's kzread.info/dash/bejne/end-xrumor2bgNI.html...Im sure the MK7's are better tuned, and have the updated TSI engine...I just like top end power right out the box/factory since i'm a highway freak and tbh that's a personal issue and my comment was kind of pointless i must admit, but yeah, with a tune and the DSG, the GLI's overall can pretty much take out anything that's non-forced induction.. still here, a driver mod is indeed needed but the BRZ in this vid is quicker than most others i've seen..

@@notimezforgames1465 Video doesn't work. That seems suspect fast given just an exhaust system. We actually have a 2017 GLI in our household, it's stock but it is not nearly that fast. It's mid 6's to 60 or so. I can't see an exhaust system cutting that down that much. With a tune, bolt ons and sticky tires though I can. The newer gen tsi has more top end but in general the turbo motors die off after 5k or so. e85 and full bolt on brz's are considerably faster than stock. They go from like 160whp to 200+ with those mods.

Hands down best shifting ever..

Apr stage 1 should add 100hp from stock and stage 2 will add 40-50hp so. I have a stage 2 GTI and I’m keeping up with a V8 Bmw and Mustangs. That’s the only car i lost to by just a bumper.

I have a lame bama tune, intake, x pipe, and rear axle back exhaust. I smoke stage 2 GTI up to 100mph and they pass me because turbskie helps top end alot.

Ali zonda 😂 well some people having stage one adds only 40hp so... and stock hp of GTI is 220 so. Basically just a tune making over 300 already.

@@Josh-js3uw it is a bolt on part so yes. But full bolt on usually means all aftermarket horsepower adders. Like, intake, exhaust, headers, etc.. Any exterior bolt on part without going into the engine.

What tune is the GTi on? Seems like he didn’t gain much power over stock

TOY SOLDI3R probably the Cobb one then. Think the GTi is like 245 whp and almost 300 wtq on a cobb tune. Conservative but still impressive you hung with him since you’re a non turbo 4 cylinder

GTI TUNE Is bad because with my mk6 stage1 unitronic all stock parts in my cars i beat BRZ full polt on easily and I beat BRZ with supercharge by half car that's gti should go for unitronic I think

JB4 is a really light tune if he's stock everything. Have to get bolt ons to fully utilize higher Jb4 maps but at that point other tunes will perform better.

Gti had a weak tune for its oem parts and was running 91. If gti also had headers/down pipe, it would kill the brz.

I’ve run other stock GTIs and same results 3 times. Separate people lol I’ve got a decent tuner who’s familiar with tuning this specific car and E85 is a plus 🤷🏽‍♂️

Gti need EQT or stratified ecu flash tune its more powerful and tourque ..not jb4 ..

I love the BRZ, great car. But a stock BRZ vs an APR stage 1 MK7 GTI, not even close. I have a 2016 GTI S coupe APR stage 1 tune, (Stock HP 210, after tune 319 (plus 7HP with the intake so a total of 326 and 390 lb feet torque vs. stock 258lb feet.) as well as a South Bend Daily Driver stage 2 clutch and APR Intake, EBC Stage 2 dimpled and slotted front brakes. This thing really goes. That said, you must, and I know this sounds elementary, have tires to stick when power is applied. I had a set of Bridgestone Potenzas which were terrific for about 2,500 miles, they actually lasted only about 4,000 miles with only occasional hard driving. I replaced them, at much less expense, with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s. Although the Potenzas were a little better initially, The Firestones gave great performance for well over 25,000 miles and were better, in my experience, in the rain. I say all of that because I was a little tight on cash when I replaced the Firestone's and bought Federal performance tires. Even with the "Nannies" on I can't push 1st gear without excessive tire spin.

That GTI is 100% stock....i seen Tuned GTIs keep up with hellcats and this guy trying to convince us that GTI is tuned and the brz kept up with it lol

He is probably stage 1, basically no mods only a tune so would make sense. A Stage 1 GTI holding up against a tuned brz with headers and e85
