Tumor Marker Dropping Like Crazy! Latest Bloodwork & Chemo Round 9
There's a tumor marker found in blood called 'carcinoembryonic antigen' (CEA) that we've been tracking. Normal levels to have in your blood are 0 - 3.
When I first got my diagnosis, my CEA score was 168 (!!), so super high (since lots of tumors).
2 months ago we tested again, it was 26 -- way lower! Then we just tested yesterday, and my CEA was... 9!!
My oncologist was super surprised -- she said that sometimes folks get their CEA down in the 20s, but rarely into the teens, and even more rarely as low as mine has gone. Stoked!
Plus some new updates. Thank you ALL for following, and all your love, support and well-wishes -- I appreciate all of you!!

Thank you for the update. So good to hear the positive news!
What a great news, congratulations! Glad to see you in good spirits too! It is very important to crack some jokes in onco ward. I believe good spirits and attitude are as important and as healing as chemo or radiation. Among other wards, I also go to onco ward to help patients to do some exercises and walk a little. I also try to make jokes and invent some stories behind some exercises, for example - we do some old fashion dance moves in bed or imagine holding a coin between butt cheeks. Patients giggle and remember those exercises better. It's silly, but I see my patients eyes sparkle. Anyways, keep fighting, keep making jokes and laughing with other patients. You are doing great and you can beat it!

You're wonderful, Ilze...you clearly care about your patients, and I can GUARANTEE from personal experience that they NOTICE. Every little bit of human touch, every smile, every light-hearted comment puts us hugely more at ease. You're a natural carer.
Continuing to pray - you got this! You have the best attitude.

The taste thing sounds awful. Ice cold water is where it’s at. I’m sorry about those symptoms. I’ve heard if you wear ice packs on your hands and feet during chemo that you won’t get neuropathy. Hope you get your surgery out of the way soon! Congratulations on your tumor markers 😊

Thank you, Sarah -- I've heard that about the neuropathy, but haven't tried it yet. Maybe because ice hurts so much once the neuropathy STARTS...I'm afraid to try it during. But I'm gonna now!
Well done with cancer I hope it will get better in the future, I am also going through the same thing, but the doctor say I have about one year to live.

Tell us what treatment they put you on……
The CEA is not a good marker to use for cancer.. Are you still using CEA markers? Of course they come down with chemo and radio, that’s why they use them, too show you their treatment works! But likely not, and will go high again after the treatment..

I don't want to sound like an a hole, for criticizing his approach and seeming unemphatic, because obviously his current situation is not good and it's all sad, but I just feel the need to point some things out and push back on some things that he should be mindful of and change - from watching his latest videoes, in his latest video he says he is eating like a horse but still losing weight, and continues explaining that he had oats, sirup and blue berries for breakfast, but all these are heavy on sugars (assuming he is eating commercial grown blue berries and not wild blue berries) which only feeds inflammation and cancer, nothing his muscles and tissues needs at all, I mean how can he be consuming this junk if he has cancer? Also saying in this video, he started running, which I would argue is bad if you have cancer, you want to take long walks but not run, because running can potentially suppress your immune system while walking is good for blood flow making sure blodplasma that carries nutrients, white blood cells etc., reaching everywhere in his body. Dan if you read this, I hope you will look up more information in starving cancer with keto diet, and perhaps using traditional meds for balancing your immune system, perhaps find an online a.i. to list different suggestions and even tho you have issues walking, you need to try walk as much you can and get sun light, make sure you get lots of vitamin D, vitamin C, proteins, healthy fats, electrolytes etc. I wish you all the best!
does anyone know if he ever got a colonoscopy before cancer diagnosis?
