I am also always inspired to practise tummo by example of the great yogi Milarepa on the lonely mountaintops and also now by cold winter that is taking hold here in Canada.

The main point is clear. It is a methode to realise the nature of mind.

I've long thought Tummo was taught to initiates at Potala Palace, cuz it didn't have central heating, so personal central heating was taught. Yes, perfect timing as winter is just setting in Canada's interior. But I've had hypothermia & I'm not young, so I've hurdles to overcome here.

By four inches below the naval , do you mean root ( muladhar ) chakra or swadhisthan chakra ? Please clarify . Secondly , in yoga and probably in tantra too ( to a small extent I know these ) , the feminine energy ( shakti ) rises upto the top of the head i.e. upto crown or sahashrar chakra where the Shiva or the masculine element resides and the two meet there in the crown chakra. You are telling that the two meet at heart chakra . Does the masculine energy / element also moves down from crown / sahashrar to the heart centre or it already resides in the heart chakra only , please clarify .

1) Four finger widths below the navel. 2) In advanced stages of Tummo practice the male energy from the crown comes into the heart.

Those details are not important. Excessive visualization only increases ego, sense of I and mine. Just fill chakras with hot prana

So is it like kriya yoga starting below the navel up the spine, arc over the head and down the front into the heart?

Very similar principle. Filling chakras in the spine with hot prana. When spinal centers become very sensitive, prana stays there making your mind super quiet. Then, ego disappears and contact with the divine established.
