Read _Team of Rivals_ about the Lincoln cabinet or even _The Federalist Papers_ which led to the ratification of a US Constitution or the Supreme Court's _Marbury vs Madison_ decision. You will see that in America there has never been any such thing as public office driven by selfless civil service devoid of political career ambitions.

This was never the case. To attract high-caliber individuals to political offices, we need to make public service competitive with private sector opportunities to draw in talented individuals. Pay them a competitive salary. Otherwise we'll keep getting Gaetz and AOC. Along with that, all investments should be placed in blind trusts and ban all gifts to mitigate conflicts of interest, fostering a culture where decisions are made in the public's interest. You will get corrupt liars or inept PolySci kids if you keep it cheap and rely on the goodwill of the participant.

Agreed, but it would be refreshing to hear a politician not have to lie about the numbers in order to make their point. For example, Halliburton is (and has been for decades) a publicly traded company. Their financials are open for all to see. At no time during the Iraq War did Halliburton ever earn anywhere near the "Trillions" of dollars quoted by Tulsi. In fact, the highest revenue year (2005) they only had a total revenue of $20B and net earnings of barely over 10% ($2.3B). A far cry from "making trillions of dollars". Was there a lot of overspending by the US Government? I'm sure there was. Were there Executives at Hal making millions? I'm sure they were. But exaggerating the numbers by a factor of 50+ makes you lose all credibility. Takes 10 minutes to look it up and get the facts straight.

@@jjuhring1 People that only talk about the cost of war never address that there are reasons that wars begin. Both sides are not always looking for profit. One side usually would like not to fight and defends their homes only. If the attackers break into that home Tusli thinks you should talk to them, negotiate. Perhaps they just want your money or to take your front yard. Negotiate. She sounds like a Bernie liberal.

We keep hearing about the military industrial complex. How about having a leader from one of the big military contractors on to speak about their perspective. How they view the world and themselves in it, their experiences, and if they see the landscape of war changing for the better of humanity?

In good faith, what do you think should be done then? These machine learning algorithms do an excellent job matching our preferences and interest. It's a positive feedback loop where the more we click and consume, the more similar content we be fed to us. With confirmation bias, people continue to seek out even more similar content. What do you think is the best way we go about this? I agree. We should not be censoring everything. Do we enact legislation the does not let these tech companies use algorithms in such circumstances i.e., you can have recommendation algorithms for shows, shopping, etc, but not for places like Twitter?

Enlightening as to why things were so expensive. I was drafted into the Army (also a medic) at the close of Vietnam, starting pay $67/month and was always puzzled how Iraq could have been so expensive, even with large pay increases as the Army became all-volunteer, and even with the cost of equipment. It just never added up to me whenever the cost was stated to be in the trillion$. My family members who served in Iraq did have very highly negative views of KBR. I was surprised that when they came back, they frequently would say something like “it’s all about the money.”

When I was in the AF I was a part of a team of bomber mechanics who would be bused out to a secrete base to service returning bombers during a nuclear war as the main base would be gone. During an exercise, I over heard two lieutenants with side arms, part of security command, talking about how they where going to be stacking security guards on the runway like cord wood, now the mechanics, we'll keep them alive as long as we can letting them out at timed intervals to work on the returning bombers to minimize radiation poisoning until they are over come. The message was clear, refuse and it will be bullet to the head. One of them looked up at me and smirked. Nuclear war is all out and forever. How people today cannot understand this I don't understand.

The KBR Haliiburton industrial complex is the direct result or republican policies as were both wars prior to 911. Read Kinslers Crossing the Rubicon for the full on paper trail and realize just how deeply the inside job narrative goes when you follow the money. KBR in particular made billions from importing heroine, which was ultimately what Afghanistan and Iraq were mostly about. I have no love for the dysfunction of the democratic party, but compared to the pure evil that is the republican cadre, well it leaves little choice to those that have actually done their homework and who are truly anti war.

In this instant, Lex your guest has not once acknowledged that perhaps the military forces and the government who has sent her have used tactics of divisiveness, splitting communities; playing one set of people against an other and creating differences and fomenting hatred. The USA has so much potential for doing amazing things and yet the administrations seem to have succumbed to greed and control in any way necessary. I don't think anyone who genuinely believes that one day they would have to answer to their Creator would promote sleaze, cronyism and use war to make money for the companies donating funds to them.

Addressing your statement of POTUS Obama being a uniter was a shock to me. It was during his presidency that I began to drift from the democrat party as I watched the tensions begin to surface. These tensions were evident in my work environment. I teach in an urban school district and have watched the seeds of division be nurtured and comments being made from the bully pulpit of the Oval Office develop greater tribal shifts within our student body to the point now some populations completely reject their education in the name of systemic racism so they roam the halls as bands of mischief makers.

Thank you Mr Lex for having Ms Tulsi on your show, I have to agree with every word Ms Tulsi spoke, I loved Ms Tulsi even before I seen this show but I never knew Ms Tulsi you served Our Country, I have a huge place in my heart for all Our Fallen heroes, all Our veterans, and all those who still serve today it is men and women like you Ms Tulsi who served that makes me proud to be an American it is your sacrifices that I can hold my head high and say without shame I'm an American. For me there is no greater feeling than that. My father served, he did 4 tours in Vietnam and growing up looking at his medals I knew I wanted to follow in his footsteps, as a child 5-6 years old looking at my father's medals I was proud cause my Dad was a Marine and he served Our Country, but I honored my mother's wish she begged me not to join the military she wasn't afraid of me being killed in action nor was I, she was afraid I wouldn't come back home the same person I left, she was afraid I'd come home and pull a Rambo it was funny then but now I know exactly what she meant, I'm disgusted to see what Biden and his administration has done to Our Country and I feel Biden is making all the sacrifices Our Fallen heroes all Our veterans and all those who serve have been done in vain and I want nothing more to see Biden and all those behind him kicked the hell out of Our House! And I say that politely out of respect for Ms Tulsi❣️ Ms Tulsi I wanna thank you for serving Our country I loved you before I knew you served now knowing u served Our Country I wanna marry you🌹❣️🤭😅 Thank you and Our Fallen, Our Veterans and those who still serve I now know why all of you did what you did!? Cause this Country is worth fighting for, as I wrote this the tears kept falling that's how much I love what all Our veterans did for this great country Thank you❤

She's alright. Spouts a lot of propaganda nonsense. The north African Islamist movements like Boko Haram aren't interested in exterminating people of the faith or ethnicity she mentioned. That was nonsense. They're interested in political objectives within their theater of action. They're messing up a lot of foreign power's resource plans, not just ours. Russia seems to do a better job for the regimes there at fighting them than the US or France, though recently the US has become more flexible at who it will let govern in the Sahel. She also seems to support Netanyahu which says enough for how much she's worth. Yeah she's right about Ukraine & was definitely right about Syria but that's not enough. Why do we need to settle for these middling people who aren't even experts? Granted she's better than anyone near the white house currently, but that's a very low bar.
