Tulips From Above - Aerial view of beautiful flower fields in the Netherlands

In this aerial film I explore some of the beautiful tulip fields scattered around the Netherlands, including a very special one dedicated to health care workers fighting the coronavirus. The tulips usually blossom in April and early May, and the immense fields are a spectacular sight. From up close, but also from the air.
Originally growing wild the nature, tulips started to be cultivated in Istanbul around one thousand years ago. Many centuries later, they came under the attention of Western diplomats and gradually grew into a highly valued commodity, especially during the ‘Tulip mania’ period in the Netherlands. These days, the Netherlands are the main producer and exporter of tulip bulbs.
Usually, tourists from around the world come to admire the vivid colors of the tulip fields, both in the famous ‘Keukenhof’ and in other parts of the country. This year, it’s not possible for most travelers to visit Holland, but hopefully this clip can provide a glimpse into the beauty of our amazing tulip fields.
Most of the shots were made this year, but there are also a few from previous seasons.

A friend of mine was just diagnosed with cancer. I'd love to use this video with my music and make a DVD for her personal use. She owns a florist store and I think she would enjoy this.

What do they do with the tulips after harvesting? Sell the bulbs? Or sell the flowers? Also, how about a drone vid of some famous Dutch castles and gardens like het loo or de haar?

Most tulips are sold in stores here. The bulbs are actually the main product and are mostly exported. I'd love to shoot some more drone videos, but regulation is very tight in the Netherlands. Will see though, thanks for watching again!
