How Holland Became The Most Efficient in the Agricultural Field

According to the World Resources Report, in order to feed 10 billion people by 2050, with the same level of food production, most of the world’s forests must be deforested. Another way out, experts say, is the urgent creation of a more efficient agricultural system that will help solve the impending problem of world hunger. The Netherlands, a small country that has been able to rank second in the world in terms of agricultural food export, is a worthy example to follow. But how exactly did they manage to achieve this result? The simplest way to increase yields is to increase the use of various soil fertilizers and pest control chemicals. Although this helps to increase yields in the short term, however, such methods require a constant increase in the dosage volume, which leads to soil degradation and its inability to grow anything except for a few crops, and then to desertification. Due to various weather conditions and terrain features, the degree of soil degradation can either accelerate or slow down, but the result will still be the same.

During WW1 we became aware of the fact that we were to dependent of other countries for our food supply. People were starved by lack of food, although we were neutral. They started the polder plan, with the Afsluitdijk as most standing out. We claimed land from the sea and made sure it was developed for agriculture use. In total we made about 5 polders, from which 3 are huge and seeing from above stand out. The 4th was a “trial” polder which, if you don’t know, looks like it is normal land. The 5th was never reclaimed, although the dikes to do it are still there. The Afsluitdijk had/has a duel purpose, 1st to make the lands behind safe for flooding, 2nd to make a giant sweet water lake that is in effect a giant sweet water basin.

Yes, we have "Wageningen." This is why NL is so damn good at this game. At 05:14 you said "wangeningen", and this is how it came out in the automatically generated subtitles. I would say that the world needs more agricultural universities. Then, "Wageningen is near Amsterdam" is not true when viewed from a Dutch perspective.

Meanwhile the EU is moving to mandated organic farming and Netherlands is forcing farmers to cut fertilizer uses.

We shouldn't solely rely on maximising food supply to meet increasing demand for food. We produce so much food waste to begin with so it's essential that we improve global food distribution as well, to ensure that a larger proportion of resources that we already have are utilised too.

The adequate supply of food to feed the World's human population is a political problem, not a technological one.

Clearly narrated by a text to speech bot. I'm very suspicious that the whole video was made by a bot with very little human guidance.

It’s the Netherlands, not Holland, Holland doesn’t exist, you have two provinces called Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland.

Why don't we also try saving water and collecting more from the rain at the farm like use less water diversity your crops more. Like I'm bored I've tried every dam fresh food in stores im bored. Like diversity with more kinds of food damit like sea buckthorn its drought tolerant very cold tolerant like down to -45 and it produces 30 to 50 pounds per plant 2 to 3 times a year and its full of rare vitamins and full of nutrients. Like no one bothers trying to get farms to change hell 80% of the would is ok with the amount of food we grow im not diversifie please.

Feed the "migrants" into the top of the rotary kilns usually used to make quick lime and sterile "natural" fertilizer falls out of the bottom end. This would contain almost all of the needed elements and compounds for crops. This both works on the food demand end of the problem and food production end of the problem at the same time. It's much better than Soilent Green.

I wanted to suggest feeding you and the likes of you to rotary kilns to produce organic fertilizers as well, then remembered you're too toxic and the food will come out tasting like shit, so I suggest burning you to generate some heat for electricity stations.
