Tulips, Crocuses, and Daffodils | A Journey of planting to storing BULBS

The video is all about planting spring flowering bulbs (Tulips, Crocuses, and Daffodils) and journey to store bulbs after blooming period. Here is the list of topics which I have covered:
1. Planting method (why bulb size is important, how to plant and how to protect from 3S (slugs, snails and squirrels) )
2. Quick summary on planting instructions (my version)
3. Full growing cycle profile (Bulbs to new shoots and buds to flowers)
4. Watering and feeding requirements
5. HD pictures of Tulips, Crocuses, and Daffodils
6. Deadheading and why you need
7. Die back, cleaning, sorting and storing bulbs (possible solution to solve disappearing Tulips problem and also to save a lot of bulbs for next spring)
8. A timeline to show growing journey from planting bulbs to storing bulbs (my version)

Nice video. I like when they also show the result and not just planting bulbs.

Welcome to UK and glad to hear that video was helpful. If you can plant hyacinth as well, you will love them in spring. They have also fragrance and very beautiful. If you are planning to grow some vegs/fruits from seeds in spring than best to start seeds in February (indoor). The UK has limited warm months so early start may give you better harvest. All the best.

Yes, should be fine. I am assuming that you are referring to greenish/yellowish shoots.

Enjoyed watching your video, can you throw some light on what happens if its frosty or snows, will it affect the bulbs grown in containers, how do I do if it does snow

Frost/snow will not cause any issue at all so don't worry. I leave all spring bulbs containers outside in the garden.

Thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial. This is the right time for it. This morning I volunteered to plant Narcissus bulb flowers in my neighborhood. Do you know if all types of Narcissus are perennials? Last year I planted Tulips thinking that are all perennials. I just got to know just couple of them are perennials and the rest are annuals.

Possibly perennial. Bulbs supplier has correct information and if you remember the shade of flowers than do check Sarah Raven UK website and it does give similar information.

Hi, very nice videos. I love flowering bulbous plants. But do the newly planted tulips need to be removed from the ground afterwards, or should they be removed and divided the following year?

  • @ProfInfinity

    @ProfInfinity

Thanks Salvo for watching. If they are in ground than I would suggest to leave them. Not all the varieties of Tulips are perennial but you can add more tulip bulbs in same area every year. This will give you a good flower display and you don't need to worry about if tulips will return or not. In the ground, I would not worry about division but if you grow in containers than it is a different story. All the best for your display.

Do small bulbs grow bigger at all? How do we get big bulbs without buying straight? A lot of growing tulip advice says to avoid, discard small bulbs but I'm curious how big bulbs come about.

I think this is more like wait game. Small to recommended size bulbs may take few years. You are very right about Tulip advice and this may be due to 1) not all Tulips are perennial and 2) new recommended size bulbs will guarantee better display. I planted both small (but not very small) and recommended sizes from my last year recovery so will see what happen to them in April 2022.
