Tulane students build tiny home for man who has been homeless for nearly two decades
Architecture students at Tulane University designed, created and built a permanent home for a man who hasn't had one for nearly two decades. The students worked on the project for 10 months as part of their final assignment for the UrbanBuild program at Tulane.

This made me cry. I was there as a volunteer not long after hurricane Katrina. Thanks for helping him!
This is what the architecture department should be teaching these young students. By the students using their skills helps them to reenforce what they have learned.
Such a beautiful story. No one should be homeless.

what a great story. All schools should have a program where students are doing something for another less fortunate individual. This experience for the students will be with them forever. Affordable housing should be a must for everyone. Mr. Henry - welcome home.
How wonderful!! Now I hope he gets some furniture and appliances for his new home also. He will not have to fear the many dangers of living on the streets again.
There are like, millions of homeless people out there right now that are DESPERATE for a tiny house, and this should be an example why we need to find in our hearts to help them get back on their feet and off the streets!

Just thrilled that the Tulane students were able to provide this wonderful tiny home for a homeless person. My only concern is who’s going to help him get furniture, pay for the electricity and water, and surely there will be some taxes involved too. Wish we knew more.

In Louisiana, property tax is incredibly low and seniors can apply for exemptions and such.
Beautiful! Architects of hope, love. solidarity, humanity...
Now let’s see if he can keep it. There’s a lot of work and expense and responsibility involved in owing even a “free” house.
My town in northern California created a tiny home village with state funds and got almost every single homeless person housed. It works. Our country can solve this problem state by state and tiny homes and abandoned motel renovations are key to this. California is by no means perfect and has shameful problems accounting for the funds it allocates for homelessness but it is doing at least SOMETHING and that something is working in many counties. Now we need to tackle LA and San Francisco.
This is real service! Help those who cannot help themselves, Love Thy Neighbor!
Love the idea,,,now how does the gentleman pay for utilities/taxes and home maintenance?

Congrats to Mr. Benjamin Henry! May he love and cherish his forever home. I hope he had some huge help in furnishing it too. I also like that it’s in the 9th ward. So fantastic for these students. I hope that whenever they get their dream jobs, that for every 10th job they complete (at least), they do something like this to give back to the community. They’ve already started down that road with this great project. Thanks, Tulane University. You are doing something great right.

Awesome young people. Humanity is so random. On one hand, you have a group of doers, creating things for others. On the other hand, you have a person who could be a doer (get a job and make money) but can't. I find this fascinating.
