Ammatillisessa koulutuksessa on edelleen vähän englanninkielisiä opintoja, ja suomenkielisiin opintoihin vaaditaan yleensä vähintään B1-B2-tason suomen kielen taitoa. Kannattaa kysyä koulusta, onko mahdollista suorittaa opintoja oppisopimuksella, jos sinulla on jo soveltuva työpaikka alalla. Onneksi Savonlinna on melko lähellä Mikkeliä.

You must leave if you haven’t secured a new job or a place to study. You also need to apply for a new residence permit. Seasonal work offers you new work experience, cultural knowledge, and the opportunity to learn or improve your Finnish language skills. Additionally, you get to travel and see more of Finland up close, and of course, you earn a salary from the work, which can be significant for many.

@frankmadondo84 I understand, but there is still hope. At least initially, the school required basic knowledge of the Finnish language. I called them last winter, and they were still planning the course and were uncertain about the Finnish language requirement. Maybe in the future, it won’t be necessary. It probably depends on whether they get enough applicants. It’s a good idea to study the basics of Finnish independently online if you have a particular interest in Finland. I’m sure that in the future more schools will offer courses in English. I stay well-informed on this topic since I have good sources as a Finn. 😉🇫🇮

Hi, unfortunately, I don't know. You certainly can't start studies with a tourist visa. You can, however, apply to different schools. Usually, when starting school, you need to have a residence permit for studies; otherwise, you will lose your study place. A tourist visa, as the name implies, is granted for tourism purposes. I called a school and asked about Finnish language courses. They said that a residence permit is not granted for studying Finnish alone. The studies must be vocational or lead to a degree at a vocational school, UAS, or university.

Just as I mentioned in the video, Samiedu primarily serves those already in Finland. Only a few vocational schools accept international applicants, offering just a handful of programs in English. You can find more information on these in my previous videos. It’s challenging to create a detailed video on this topic since these programs are currently not available.

@ChidiMighty-sf9wq please check out from school website. Basic level A2.2 - Your understanding of familiar subjects is reasonably good. You can write in simple language. Will be tested in an aptitude test in Savonlinna.

Hi, thanks for your message on my behalf. I’m not sure if Finland has visa sponsorship programs. Based on my research, Finland’s education and labor marketing efforts are targeted at countries like India, Brazil, Vietnam, and the Philippines. As of today, Nigeria is not among them. However, there is an opportunity to obtain a work permit for “seasonal work,” which can grant a residence permit for up to nine months. Finland issues these permits most easily outside the EU.
