There are a ton of ways to make a rug, but here are the supplies I use. Tim Eads of tuftinggun.com (with no "'s" as shown in the video) has proven to be the most helpful to me in my journey so far. You can use the code "MAGIC15" for 15% off your first purchase :D
Comment below if you have any tufting-related questions. I'd love to answer them in a future video.

I didn’t even know people could make their own rugs. That’s such an awesome skill!

@@lilgrump9730 typically they are manufactured in a factory and made by machines. So yes, I didn’t know that the everyday person could make their OWN rugs at home....

@@sulkyblackheart if it can be maufactured in a factory whats stopping someone from making one at home. It isnt some sort of top secret formula. Do you think rugs were always mass produced in factories?

@@lilgrump9730 look dude, I was just trying to give the girl a nice complement. I like her work, I think she did a great job, and she made an interesting video about it. Obviously things weren’t always mass produced. It’s just nice to see ppl take the time and effort to make something themselves instead of just purchasing it in a store. I didn’t know anything about tufting before watching her video and that’s all I was I saying. It doesn’t need to be some philosophical debate where you try to make yourself look like you’re smarter than everyone else by belittling ppl over a simple compliment meant for the artist...

Looks great, I’d be really interested in seeing a video with all your rugs...maybe about how you come about designing them or ideas on what someone could make 😊

this is so informative thank you!! i just bought a punch needle and if i like it i’m going to save up for a tufting gun!! i’m 15 and i sell necklaces so i’m excited to put that money into this new hobby, thank you again!!
Thanks so much for the specific products you list!! I'm just getting started with punch needling patches and rugs, but didn't know where to turn for specific adhesives and backings. I'd love to hear your thoughts on acrylic VS wool yarn usage too! The most I've heard is a cost VS durability discussion (acrylic being cheaper and more accessible via craft stores and wool just lasting so much longer).
I can not wait to see your next few videos. I see a lot of videos about starting and working with the gun but I am having a hard time about finding out how to professionally finish a piece for use on the floor. Thank you for linking your adhesive and backing it helps a lot!

Wow here I was thinking this sort of stuff required Either some computerized industrial machinery, or painstakingly crocheting or something individual little pieces of yarn one by one. Who knew there was a power tool to do it makes sense lol I think I've seen some rugs like this with designs that looked very home made. Your rugs are so cute!
You got yourself a subscriber!

Thank you! Such an informative video. I was wondering, is it possible to tuft with “rag yarn”/ t-shirt “yarn”?

thank you so much for all these helpful videos! did you need a plug adapter? I noticed the tuftinggun site mentions getting one.
Hi! I've been watching your videos for some time now and you have been so helpful in starting my tufting journey however, I was wondering if there was a spray or grease that you recommend using on our machine before we get started? Thank you!

hello, I love youre videos. I have a question ,whats better a cut pile or loop??
Really looking forward to more videos! I want to get into this myself. Did you make your larger frame yourself? Would love to know how to make the frame!

I hired a carpenter to do it for me. Traded her for a rug, actually! Tim Eads has a video on how to build a frame that I sent her for reference
I found your video super helpful, I intend to start doing this as a hobby and if it goes well, maybe selling them!
I only make punch needle rugs, but I wanna try this so bad omg!!
thank you!
I have a question! How do you get your checkerboard edges to be so sharp? They look great
Hi AJ, that's very interesting. Thank you for sharing. What kind of yarn do you use? Is it special yarn or it can be the ones for knitting? What about natural or bio fiber? Thks. HM
Do you put the rubber felt after you’re done punching the rug or do you glue it to the canvas and then sew over it ?
This really peaked my interest. I love all the fiber arts , didn't even know tufting was an option. What are the advantages/disadvantages of cut pile vs loop? Thanks 😊
@AJMAKES137
3 жыл бұрын
The biggest advantage with cut pile is that you don't need to use scissors. With a loop pile, you have to trim the yarn after each line you tuft
Hey, When your Done with the tufting How do you cut out the rugg? Do you have to do something with the edges or is it just Done after you cut it? :))
I love the fonts you use! What families are they?
Looking forward to your future tufting videos! Where is your large tufting frame from?

I had a local carpenter make it for me! she followed this tutorial roughly kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKWAuZqClbaoe9o.html
How would these be washed when needed? Thanks for sharing
Hi! First, i love your rugs~ Really adorable! Second, I'm finishing my first full test rug and I have a super small hole. I tufted in another area and was hoping to be able to glue that to the finished project. Does that seem... doable/right? I don't plan on using the rug as a floor rug but I still want to keep it! Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
@legoduckie

You could always hand-sew it in with carpet thread. Probably with a whip stitch
thank you for this video! did the rugs you made already come out that thick or did you have to adjust anything in the gun? also when you thread is it safe two put two strings of yarn or just one?
@AJMAKES137
3 жыл бұрын
I use the default height on my gun (haven't changed it yet because I'm happy with the height). I often use two threads of yarn when I'm filling in space. It creates more yarn density, quickly. Then I'll use one string for detail work.
I like your video :)
do you use any sort of shears to finish the rug? as well as a tool to trim out the front to make the design more clean looking on the front?
What font did you use on your thumbnail?♡
Can I use any kind of yarn for tufting or should I buy specific yarn? Im interested in tufting
I don’t use a tufting tool but I do punch needle rugs, can I use floor adhesive anyways?

Hi AJ .... Thanks for video. Keep an coming!!! Quick question!! Do some or ALL guns need a compressor to work?
@AJMAKES137
3 жыл бұрын
No! Just the new AK-III. The other two available on tuftinggun.com (both loop and cut pile) do not require an air compressor
How do you count how much yarn you'll need for your project?
looks great. thanks for these info. tell me pls which kind of yard material is best and the size? if u have any video about finishing or backing send me the link pls
This seems incredibly fun. About how much does all the materials cost for a beginner?
