Tudor Style Home Tour in My Neighborhood

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My friend and neighbor Phil kindly invited us into his beautiful English Tudor home for a tour. Enjoy all of his artwork, collections, and a hint into his world of bonsai. Don’t forget to go back and watch the tour we did of his front yard last year :-).

To Phil, thank you for generously allowing us to tour your beautiful home. You have wonderfully blended the old and the modern while keeping your home a warm and relaxing place. I love your Jade Bonsai and can’t wait to learn how to do this to some cuttings from my 16 year old miniature Jade tree. Your home is fabulous ! Thank you Linda for sharing your good neighbor’s beautiful home.

I absolutely love the home tours, Linda! You are so right when you said people drive by older historical homes and wish they could go inside and see how they are decorated. Phil has a gorgeous home and should be so proud of how he has maintained the beauty of the Tudor with a modern twist. I am looking forward to the backyard tour. The view from the arched fixed window in the kitchen looking into the bonsai room is awesome. We are so lucky to have access to these beautiful homes through your contacts. Thank you very much!

My home is livable and he has animals that he may not clean off their feet every time they come in. It's probably clean snow any way. I go in and out often on my small farm and there is no way I am taking my shoes off each and every time I come in unless they are muddy. And guess what, I never get sick or ill. By the way I am female. While it is nice to have a spotless house, I have many more things I enjoy doing. Each to their own.

What an interesting collection he has! I have never named a plant, although now I have a couple of contenders that have lasted long enough to deserve having names. Lol

English Tudor homes are my favorite! I love the charm of them. I feel the charm has been stripped away in this home. The decor is so modern for this type of house, it’s kind of cold and looks more like an art museum. He has very good taste in art and I can appreciate that.

My hubby has had koi for years and has made ponds in several of the homes that we've owned. So I will be sure to have him watch too! We have a few jade plants as well...and one is very, very large...which we bring in in winter and put out in the shade in summer. I love it and now seeing his bonsai, I think I will try to work on a small cutting that we have sitting in a jar of water! Thanks Linda for this lovely tour of your kind neighbor's home.

About naming the betta, my kids caught on really quickly to the fact that I ‘occasionally’ had to replace our betta. Try as I might to find one that looked pretty close to the one he was replacing. So I gave up and came clean. We decided then- that periodically replacing the fish was going to be inevitable. So we went with a theme. All of our blue bettas had blue names. We had Cobalt and Aqua and Indigo and Turquoise etc. etc. It wasn’t as sad that way. We did our best to keep them healthy but when one would succumb, we began thinking of pretty blue names for the next one. 😊 Gorgeous home! Thanks for the tour!

Thank you, Linda, Stewart and Phil and thank you Phil for being so gracious and allowing all of us into your home. The area reminds me of an area in the west end of Toronto, Ontario where I grew up called The Kingsway. My Dad and I would go for a walk every night through the neighbourhood and I would love looking at all the gorgeous houses and I especially loved if curtains were open and you could get just a glimpse inside. I was forever telling my Dad what I would do differently, what I would keep, etc. Those are some great memories! ❤️

Loved everything about this tour! Can't wait to see the backyard. I saw the front yard tour and it was beautiful. I always want to see the inside of these older homes.

Oh, Linda, what a beautiful home….right up my alley. Love the modern decor, the openness, all the windows letting in so much natural light……and the stone pillars…..oh, those stone pillars! WOW. Looking forward to the bonsai video and backyard tour with yet another one of your wonderful friends. So kind of him to let us into his personal space. And….Stewart’s videography was A-one as always. He has such a steady hand and really gets right in there to do closeups and goes at a nice steady slow pace. You make us feel like we are right there with you, Stewart, and that is a huge accomplishment. Your efforts and expertise do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Thank you both, or I should say all three of you….and let’s not forget the puppies….they put a smile on my face. Such a joyful video. 😊💕🐠 Oh, I almost forgot about the Betta. My daughter and granddaughter live me. Several years ago, when my granddaughter was about 12, she wanted a fish. So Nana took her to the pet store. Of course, she picked out the most beautiful red half moon Betta (and the most expensive). She named him Bob. He was quite a curious little creature. My daughter used to cut up petite green peas and feed him tiny bits on her finger. He loved them. He kind of played with her somewhat. Sadly, Bob was only with us for three years.
