I love homage watches for a very particular reason. I can test and wear a homage watch to help me decide my next purchase, only making sure the dimensions are exactly the same as the real version. This helped me purchase my seamaster 300, bb54 and iwc mark xx. It's like a "tester" before the big purchase and it always bring me excitement to test a new chinese watch to see if the design resonates with me. Very useful indeed. I love homages.

I have strict rules for myself on when I will buy a Homage watch. I fully respect those who love them and hate them. I do draw the line at Counterfeit watches. And for me a counterfeit is using another watch’s logo and brand without permission. Thanks for the honest review.

When is a homage acceptable to us watch geeks. I've got the Steinhart version in 39mm and its a super watch. If the Tudor was thinner I would upgrade, but, the dimensions on the homages are better dimensions because of the movements. Head scratch for me is that Sinn have released some gorgeous 903 in various colours. These obviously aren't homages as they own the patent , but, mentally to me on one hand it's not the " navitimer " , however, specifications on the Sinn as you would expect really solid.

i just picked up the san martin equivalent of this watch (it's amazing!). the pure white dial and applied markers gives it a more explorer 2 vibe. this baltany looks excellent too

This is quite the tooley beauty! This is such a good way to get the look and feel of a Tudor without the eye watering price! This seems cleaner than the Tudor. I like the lume actually. Its like a faded vintage look with modern reliability! I think you have a winner there Miguel! Take care man!

No disrespect to anyone who owns homage watches, I just can't understand the appeal. For much the same reason I'd never want a Toyota MR2 that looks like a Ferrari.

I own watches within the 1000 euro mark. From Casios to very recently purchased a Max Bill 38 automatic. And some in between ( Seiko 5GMT, Hamilton Khaki Field auto, Tissot PRX ice blue auto, etc...). Honestly I cherish my Casio A168 the same as my Junghans. Of course wearing the Junghans makes me a little bit anxious about door nobs and some other event that can damage. For me a 1000 euros is 2/3 of my monthly income fyi. But I wear a 30 euros watch proudly as my Max Bill. My first homage was a impulse buy for a watch with the same proportions and aesthetic as a Cartier tank. I bought a Sanda Tank and that thing is just too good to throw away. I've actually bought a spare just in case my 1st fails me. I buy watches in special events mostly. Bought one when I got married, a special date. My Max Bill was a birthday gift to myself for my 41st. I've recently searched for a explorer 36m equivalent just for experimenting with a smaller case watch and got myself a Baltany with a Seiko NH38 movement. I'm deeply impressed by the overall quality. The point is, I know it's not going to be a family heirloom, homages have their place for people like me with a family, bills to pay, mortgage, etc. I'm currently saving for my next grail probably a Tudor black bay. Meanwhile I'll have fun with the occasional homage ( which I'm very picky even if it's cheaper). I don't want to end up with 50 homages instead of buying a proper one. Which I think is your point.

@@vic7939 I totally understand that, and I have watches ranging from £8 Casio's to £8k Rolex's in my collection and I get just as much from all of them. For me it's about the design, and the designer. The creative process is the bit that excites me. If somebody copies a design, then that whole appealing bit is missing for me. A few years back I was looking for a 36mm watch to replace my Rolex as a daily wearer. I looked at a bunch of homage watches, but I settled on a Smiths W10. It cost under £500 and the design was original to Smith's. I understand for lots of people the design, and the process of the design isn't the appealing bit. Maybe it's because I'm a creative myself that it's the bit that most excites me. The good thing is, we're all different, and we all love different things about watches, that's what keeps the hobby interesting. Otherwise we'd all be walking around wearing the exact same watch :)

@LRSTGS What is that hard to understand? Not many can afford to give 3-5k or more on a watch and maybe they like the design of it, so that means that they shouldn't buy it because its not the original Tudor ? And comparing watches to cars makes no sense whatsoever.
