You didn't sound stupid at all. When a watch has sentimental value, that's just part of the passion we all feel. The first watch my wife bought for me (once I had lost my mind and started buying watches) is my Hamilton Khaki Field 42mm. Every vacation we've taken has started out with that watch on my wrist. Just like your Tudor, I don't wear it as often as I used to, but I'm never getting rid of it. She's been very patient and amused over the years, so that watch means a lot. For the past two years, I've been more focused on collecting Tissot, especially the pre-Powermatic 80 movements. Likewise, I've also discovered a love of dress watches. Change is part of life. I used to wear mostly dive watches and field watches, but I love rocking a dress watch with a flannel shirt. Thanks for another great video. ❤

I know you’ve had several trials the last few years and I saw you grow as a person and at the same time your channel has grown as well. I feel the same with certain watches in my collection. I don’t use them as much as I should but I just couldn’t never get rid of them because of the emotional attachment to them. Great video Britt!

My Black Bay 58 is... a Black Bay 58 :D It's by far my most expensive watch, and I've wanted one for years but only recently been in a secure enough financial position to afford it. After I ordered it I was really worried it wouldn't live up to my expectations (something I've felt several times with other watches) but it really is *that good*. I love it and it accounts for probably 80% of my watch wearing - every time I try one of my other watches on, they only stay for a day or two then it's back to the BB58. It works with just about everything in my wardrobe and even now the honeymoon phase is over, I still love how it looks on my wrist. It's basically the only watch I have where I can't find anything to complain about, not even the bracelet or clasp; I actually prefer the "rivets and side plates" look to the plain (boring) Oyster style, and it seems I got lucky and the fit is just right.

okay no lie but, this is the best video you've done so far. i thought i wazs the only one who felt about watches, let alone the navy bb58, like this. we need more deep conversation videos about our love for these inate objects. you nailed it on the head, it's means way more than the sum of its parts.

Still have and love my BB58 Blue. First watch I bought new from the AD at the peak of my obsession with watches. This watch (and Tudor as a brand) has taught me a lot about myself as a consumer, learning to appreciate what I have rather than chase the latest and greatest thing. Tudor has done an amazing job at marketing new releases, making older models feel somewhat obsolete. I’m learning to appreciate the imperfections and cherish the memories… there will ALWAYS be new watches, but this is my watch. Rant over lol

BB58 doesn’t fetch much on the secondary market anyway. There’s way more value to the watch than what someone will give you for it. Might’ve been a different story for a Rolex you could sell above RRP. But I don’t see keeping watches as at all controversial.

Hi Brit, i totally agree with everything you just said. My bb58 will be passed down, but that's in the future. As for now, it's still my favourite watch, after three years.

I've had my BB 58 Navy for 3 years now. I am still in love with it and still in awe of it every time I put it on my wrist. It's a watch I will hold onto forever and will eventually become an heirloom to my children.

Over a decade ago, I had an accident and got a settlement and used some of that money to buy my first ✌🏻real watch✌🏻: a quartz Tag Heuer Aquaracer. I would never even think of buying one of those today. But I keep it, because it’s important.

Black bay 58 in blue was my first swiss watch purchase ever back in 2020, and i still have it in my rotation and feel similarly to you that I don't think I can ever sell it. It very much fell out of regular use over the past year, however after switching it to the OEM nato I have very much fallen back in love with it and have it on a lot.

With your and Watch Papi’s blessing, I bought both the 58 and 54. My head sometime thinks I should sell one, but my heart always says NEVER!

I never realized I wanted this watch, but in the last week it keeps popping up and it appeals more to me over time. I'm on the edge now.

One way to fall back in love with a watch is to take the bracelet off and throw on a strap. Try the stock leather strap for the Blue BB58. Try a NATO. You may be surprised!

Great video! I'd love to see much more long-term reviews of other watches! I also barely wear my BB58 since I got an Explorer in January... However it is my first automatic and first "good" watch that I bought. I bought the BB58 in January 2021 and then looked for some cool straps for it and then I've seen other watches and so on and so forth. The Black Bay got me into this nice hobby so this is definitely a keeper for me, too.

I gerry-rigged a BB Pro clasp with T-fit to fit on my BB58 Blue, and now this watch is perfect. There is value to holding onto watches that have a special place in YOUR history. That's why watches should have the capability to last your lifetime, so that they can be mementos of events and memories personal to you, and will also remind your loved ones of you too. The good thing about the BB58 is that it is a watch with proper materials and construction that will last a lifetime, plus backed by a brand that can be serviced anywhere in the world due to the Rolex association. Certain other brands like Swatch Group brands that use cheap, weak and disposable cotter pins in their bracelets would not be heirlooms and would be better suited to flipping when you're bored of them.

My 58 in blue was my first "real" watch too and I love it more and more like a great pair of jeans as time goes on. Never imagined spending that much on an object that really noone needs since we have the time on our phones or a cheap g shock but I now have 3 watches on my want list in the price range or higher of my 58

I have the BB58 black. The blue reminds me of the old Tudor Submariner. I love the old blue Tudor Sub.

For the first few years I was a buyer and seller of watches, I tried out a lot and learned a lot in the process. For about 2 years, my watches became more and more expensive and select. Now I don't really buy or sell watches anymore. Every time I get the urge for a new watch, I go to my safe and take out a similar watch. It's also a lot of fun to keep rediscovering watches and falling in love with them. I no longer wear my Rolex Datejust, but I can't sell it for emotional reasons.

I traded my bb58 blue and knew I had made a mistake 😮 but finally repurchased another bb58 blue and will never sell or trade out of it❤❤❤

Ahhhh! A cautionary tale! I’m officially not going to sell mine! I really think I’ll have sellers remorse!

I have been obsessed with Tudor and i’ve had my eyes on a BB54. I’d like a new one that I can grow with and watch age as I do similar to you said. Once I get my hands on one I plan to keep it until it’s handed down to a younger generation. Im 25 and I think it should pass the test of time.

Like you I'll be keeping my BB58. During lockdown they were very hard to get with expressing interest and they were not available without an AD appointment. Somehow I got mine online after a web site 'glitch' allowed me to add to basket. After a phone call from the AD the following day stating that I might have to wait an indeterminate time for arrival I should consider cancelling the order I just said that I'll wait. I got it within a week. I just love the watch. Many memories and a few blemishes but it's my watch.

I also got the BB58 blue in the pandemic. It’s a really sweet watch and still great value on the grey market.

Just got the bb 41 burgundy. Very beautiful. My 1st Swiss watch

I received my BB58 blue yesterday. It has far exceeded my expectations. I absolutely love it.

A few thoughts... no, you didn't sound stupid, but I'm VERY familiar with the feeling of being inside my own head thinking "shut up... nobody cares... you sound dumb". The other thing is that you shouldn't get rid of a watch just because you don't wear it as often as you used to, because there will be a day when you're on your way out somewhere and you need "the right watch" and based on where you're going, what you're wearing, etc., the BB58 will be the PERFECT choice. Rock on, Britt!!!!

It looks great on you Britt. There are plenty of blue BB58s to go around. Hang on to it. So many people talk about theeir watches aging with them and collecting memories along the way. Perhaps passing them on to another family member. It sounds so romantic 😁, then a new piece catches their eye and the heirloom is mercilessly flipped. Many collectors seem more addicted to the process of buying a new watch and the dppamine hit that goes with it. They've found their "precious" then the honeymoon phase wears off and it's on to the next one. . Bit of a shame ❤

If your BB54 were blue, I’d say sell the BB58! But it’s not; they’re very different & have different applications. That’s a good reason to keep it!

For many years I never sold my watches, but when my collection started to become really big and my tastes evolved, I understood that I like to change sometimes, so I have a few pieces that I would never sell and the majority that could be sold right now if I get an opportunity to buy something I prefer in this specific moment. To be honest in the last 3 years I have sold more watches that bought new ones.

I have the same feeling about 1 or 2 watches in my collection, albeit an order in magnitude less in price. I have my all original, almost mint condition Seiko SKX that sits in my watch box 99% of the time. Like many, it was the watch that really kicked my watch passion into gear. Just knowing it’s in my watch box gives me such joy, and therefore I will never sell it.

Auntie Britt!! As your favorite nephew, I am patient and can wait.....🤣🤣Every time you showcase this watch, I am so conflicted. Such a great watch that makes me mad at Tudor. I love the Blue BB58 and the Blue BB41 with the blue dials, but the 41mm BB with a blue bezel and black dial just makes me sad, as it could an even more awesome watch with a blue dial. I am keeping my fingers crossed that when Tudor releases the METAS certified in Blue, we will get a blue dial too. Keep up the great content. Long Lie the Cult(s), and 4:30 date windows.

Sentimentality is probably the driving factor in a lot of hesitation in thinning a collection, decluttering, and anything else that makes us make choices on whether to keep items we may have attachments to. Often giving away is easier than selling for items like watches with sentimentality IMO. I think being a deliberate collector aggrevates curating a collection - you are spot on there.

Couldn’t get the supplied bracelet to fit me without Tfit. Plus I hate the faux rivets. I got a Ranger bracelet and swapped it out now it’s 100%

I love the 58 blue, I had it for a year or so then gave it to my dad. I get immense value seeing him wear it compared to staying in my watch box. If thinking about passing to family would recommend.

Great video Britt, delving into what type of “relationships” we have with our watches. My collecting philosophy aligns with yours. I limit my mechanical watch collection to 6 pieces of which 3 are “untouchables” - white Explorer II, Speedmaster moon watch, and yes, my BB58 blue. The latter, I believe, will be regarded as a classic in due time, so I will never sell mine.

Regarding why keeping some watches, I couldn't agree with you more. Spot on. My BB58, is the Christopher Ward Tide.

I love my BB58 bronze! It’s such a nice size! And I love how the Bronze and the aluminium bezel will patina together! I’ve made it a point to only have 6 watches at a time, so I’m slowing down my journey and actually buy the ones I’d keep!

I also have a mini tudor collection! BB 32 black dial and the Tudor Clair de Rose 26mm with diamonds. I can't imagine getting rid of either. I would be more interested in the BB 54 but two black tudors is too similar for me, maybe they will release some more colors this year! OR they could bring back the 90's mini sub but call it the mini BB and have it in 33/34 mm. a girl can dream HAHA

Great video Britt. I have the same BB58 and love it so much. I recently got it a Tudor Ranger bracelet. It fits perfectly and has t-fit! It's definitely worth the upgrade. And while I don't mind the faux rivets, it looks so much better without them

I did the same but found the brushing and finish on the Ranger bracelet was too different and so put it back in the original bracelet. Don’t really miss the T-Fit clasp either.

Mine is a Tag Heuer Grand Carrera 36. I bought it to mark a milestone at work and I’m obsessed with Porches so the naming link was key. I’ve so many other watches that now get worn more but I threw a nato on it and got my honeymoon back then put the bracelet back on and got another honeymoon!

This was a nice video, I’ve only gotten into watches and got my first watch the Citizen Uomo Classic a few weeks ago. The black bay 58 is a watch I hope to be able to buy someday

I got tag heuer carrera chrono from 2008 and an oris f1 series from 2005 . They were my first watches , so I just keep them . I do t wear the tag anymore , and the oris i lent out to a friend but when he dies I’ll get it back .

That's why we are calling ourselves collectors, not flippers. We will probably be called truthfully as hoarders by the general public. 😅

My BB 58 was my first dive watch also. I have a story of why I will never sell it. The day after I bought it I was wearing it sitting in a donut shop with my 3 year old grandson. He noticed it and said, “Cappy I love your watch”. I replied that I was happy he does because when he gets older I am going to give it to him. He thought for a minute and replied, “but I like my dinosaur watch so you keep yours” I have told my daughter to give me the dinosaur watch when he outgrows it. I am having the BB engraved with “The Dinosaur Watch”. I plan on giving him both in a nice watch roll when he turns 18.

I have a BB41 on a not a jubilee bracelet, bracelet. Purchased on a 25th anniversary trip to Rome in the Tudor boutique. The memory is worth far more than the watch. It’ll never be sold. Wears equally great with a Metallica shirt or a Robert Graham. Perfect watch.

What about time keeping after 4 years? I bought the same one in March 2021 for my 30th birthday and to celebrate finished project in my studio and yeah, it took me into this world of watch collecting. Few months ago it started losing time, but constantly, around -2 seconds per day and I wear it all day, every day and no matter which position I leave it at night, it goes minus. But still, what a watch! I love it and I will keep it till the end! Greetings from Bosnia!

Hi Britt, I think it is wonderful and perfectly ok to love watches! Doesn't matter what anyone else says, do it because you enjoy it! I have owned, collected and fixed more watches than I can count (I'm a watchmaker). They are mechanical marvels and works of art and, for our times, quite environmentally friendly too! Amongst my personal collection is a Black Bay Bronze and it is one of the watches I wear the most. The quality and value of a modern Tudor is almost unmatched, they are beautifully made. I would say the Black Bay and my Seamaster 300 are the two watches I would probably never sell. I have 29 watches in my current collection that includes IWC, Ulysse Nardin, Rolex, Muhle Glashutte, Tudor, Omega, Tag Heuer, Grand Seiko, Patek Philippe, Atlantic, Smiths, Breitling, Cartier, Breguet, and a bunch of other lesser known makes, all of them lovely watches in their own right, but for watches that just look so good on the wrist and work so well, it's actually hard to beat the Tudor Black Bay and the Omega Seamaster 300. My Patek is something of an heirloom, and just beautifully crafted of course, but I confess I don't love it on my wrist and it will one day be handed down to my grandson, whereas my granddaughter has already made claim to the Black Bay Bronze which she says she loves and she doesn't care a jot that it is worth so much less than the Patek! Meanwhile, nobody has shown much interest in my Rolex Explorer and I practically never wear it. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, just wear what you enjoy the most. Keep doing what you love and learning more, it is a fascinating hobby and I hope it gives you a lifetime of pleasure. And remember, the stories created in your life around your watch ownership are part of the watch's story too, and that is what makes them have sentimental value. All the very best in your journey!"

I get selling watches you don’t like. However, this was given to you as a gift, by your husband. I can’t imagine ever selling a watch given to me by my wife. That alone is a legitimate reason to keep it forever.

I currently have seven Tudor watches including that blue BB58 and it’s the one Tudor I wear the most.

I'd consider it if it got the T-fit clasp. My wrist swells a lot. But now, I find Grand Seiko more compelling. Much more hand finishing with similar prices. Of course, their clasp needs work too, so best to get it on a OEM strap.

SBGA211 is my 'BB58' - it was my first watch and what got me into this hobby. However after owning some Rolexes and Omegas, I just don't feel the same about it anymore. The dimensions are less than desirable for a 3 hander, and while it looks great under a microscope, it really is quite underwhelming in real life. But still, it will always hold a special place in my heart. Perhaps it's easy overlook this work of mastery in the noise and bustle of a busy lifestyle, and it's in a moment of peace I'll appreciate its tranquility once again.

I love this video. I started my collection with orient ray II. As my collection grew and I got some more expensive pieces, I ignored my orient. I found any way to beat it up so I can give myself an excuse to buy more watches. Even opened it up and played with the movement. I tried to sell it recently but only to realize that I grew to love it. I believe that our collection/hobby reflects parts of ourself. I find it hard to not romanticize it.

Recently got a Rubber B strap for my BB58, recommend giving it a try, really happy with how it looks and feels on the wrist relieving some of the weight.

BB 58 is on my list as next watch, love the timeless look and feel

Sentimental value is greater than any financial value. My least worn watch would be the last to be sold as it was the last watch my dad saw me with before he passed. I wear it when I feel I need him with me (job interviews, wedding etc) but not in general day to day wearing. I wouldn’t part with it for any amount of money…..

I’m very much like you when it comes to my collecting habits. I have zero intention of ever selling anything. I love giving watches as gifts though. I still wear the ones that I might have fallen out of love with a little but that’s the perfect opportunity for a friend or family member to comment about how much they love what I’m wearing & boom! They get a new watch lol

I have a Black Bay Heritage Red. I bought it used and I love it! I think of it as a watch that the owner didn't want anymore and I adopted it. I could never sell it as it is also my first luxury watch.

It is my first high end watch. I've had it just under a year now and I love it. Tudor BB and Omega Seamaster 300M (blue) were the two watches I have always loved. I thought I wanted the full-size Tudor, but this fits my wrist perfectly. I still wear my other watches and honestly, I baby this one too much. I have an old Chase-Durer that is a tank (and it was my dad's) and I wear it on vacation, to the beach, etc. None of my watches stay in the drawer. I wear them all and won't sell any of them. Most wouldn't pull in enough on the used market anyway.

Considering you have bb54,I would exchange 58 for SeaQ adding little bit …maybe? Don’t know,I realized that’s my fav dive watch…

I have 3 BB58, the blue, the black and the bronze. I love them all, but the blue is my favourite. I keep going back to the AD where I purchased by BB58 blue, and telling him that out of the Sub, the Daytona, the Date just and other watches I purchased from the AD, the BB58 blue is still the perfect watch in every way possible.

Love th3 channel...great video. I also have the blue BB58 but on a Forstner Jubilee. If your considering new strap options you won't be dissapointed. As for watches i don't wear, I have given them to family to get them into the hobby.

When I think of your signature watches I think of the BB58, Oyster Perpetual, and the Santos Dumont 👌🏻. Don’t sell it as it has a lot of sentimental value.

I don’t sell anything. I have tried and it is difficult and not worth the headache. I have the BB58 Blue and BB54 I will never get rid of either one. Good video.

There are two watches that get a lot of wrist time for me, the Black Bay 58 (blue just like yours) and my Traska Venturer II GMT. The a Tudor actually wears well and yeah some scratches but the Traska never scratches, it's nearly impossible. I didn't baby either of them. But when I travel out want something that I don't have to worry about, I wear that Traska. When I want something that can withstand water, rain, and/or look good and make me feel like $3 thousand bucks, i go with the Tudor. I'm very proud to own mine and I bought it along with a new wedding band for my wife on anniversary on Paris. So lots of sentimental value.

I absolutely loved this video. The relationship comparison was adorable. I find it hard to get rid of some of my watches because there was for an occasion or a life change. The ones I got rid of were over lust not love. If that makes sense, bought because of need not a want. I made it to the end of the video Britt lol thanks again as always. I have recently just been given a BB58 by my wife on our wedding day. I'm absolutely in love with this watch so there is no way I'll ever get rid due to the sentimental value alone!

If you do this for long enough you may find you get way out there only to come full circle and be in love again with what first got you started. For me it was the 1st gen seiko monster back in 2007 and casio digital watches, working my way eventually to a Rolex polar explorer II and a GV milgauss back in 2018, only to sell those off and work my way back down and finding a greater appreciation for the lower end (especially the Monster). Jump ahead to the present and my plus sized collection is all over the place and into all tiers rather than just one, and while I haven't made a $2k+ purchase in a couple years, I find myself tempted by Tudor once again - perhaps a Black Bay 58 925 is in this years future.

ETA BBs are great, good accuracy and reasonable service cost. Inhouse movement upgrade is making these expensive to use because cost of one minor service will be at least 15 % of watches resale value.

Mine is the Nomos Club Campus 39mm in midnight blue with rose gold hands. It’s a stunner and was my first high end watch purchase. I don’t wear it more than a few times a year these days, but it was my first love.

One of the things I truly appreciate about your channel is our shared perspective. I'm a pastor here in the States and I'm currently saving... and saving... and saving... for a watch that I've wanted for some time. Serving the Lord means we're not rolling in the $$. That also means when it comes time to finally making the purchase, it feels like it costs more and like there's been anticipation for such a looooooooooooong time. For me, selling something that I've saved for and thought about for such a long time, feels like I threw away that time, too... Thanks for the awesome content!

For me it’s the Speedy. I don’t wear it much because it’s a little too big on me, but I can’t part with it (at least right now) because it’s such a cool watch. The aesthetics, the beautiful 3861 movement, and the history. I think it’s worth owning just as an art piece.

I have a ref. 14060 Sub which I’ve had for years. Do I wear it loads, nope. But every time I come to think about selling it, I wear it and it reminds why I enjoy having that watch in my collection.
