And always legible in any light. It gets back to what the Rolex 6204 first came to the market with in 1953 and it’s still an unbeatable combo
I’m 6ft tall 190lbs and have a 7inch wrist. I picked my BB54 up from my AD a few hours ago and am obsessed with the size. Compared it to the 58 and preferred the 54
Tudor have done it again this year. I love this and the updated Black Bay 41.
I have 6.75" wrist and I think anything over 40mm looks ridiculous on me. 36-39 is my preference. I'm always surprised when you say you have a 6.5" wrist and think watches are too small for you.
Great review and analysis. I feel the same way, just a bit too small, but that ok....it's a crackin watch. After wearing everything from 36-46mm over the years, 39-40mm seems to be the sweet spot for my wrist. Glad to see Tudor catering to some folks who might like a smaller, more vintage size watch.
Finally got mine yesterday, it's the perfect watch, I love it.
I had decided to buy a black bay 58 for my birthday this month and I confess that after the launch of the 54 at Watches and Wonders I was in doubt whether I should change to the smaller one. In the end I chose the bigger one (BB58) and I couldn't have made a better decision. It fit perfectly on my wrist (which has a similar diameter to yours) and I am very satisfied.
I think Tudor have hit a home run with the BB54. Previously people with slimmer wrists were only offered the BB non diver line but now there is a whole new bunch of people who could now wear a diver that fitted them. The dial if I'm not mistaken also exhibits a mild sunray effect similar to the Pelagos 39 that might just give the watch that little more versatility. The T-Fit clasp is very well done and one of the best in my humble opinion as a Pelagos 39 owner with this clasp. A great overview Harrison of a great watch. I look forward to seeing this watch in the flesh at some point. Thanks for sharing.

@@anthonystevens8683 Yep, they did! Shockingly, when you take your BB58 off and put on the 54, the really only thing you notice that is different is the thickness and that it's slightly lighter. The overall size with the lug to lug wears (almost) identical to the 58 in the flesh. This is mainly due to the fact the lugs extend straight for a bit before turning down vs. on the 58 they turn down right away etc. (58 more round and 54 more rectangle). But, overall the 54 feels like a more refined 58 in many ways. The smaller dial is not an issue and after about 10-min you already get used to it and don't notice anything different from the 58. I actually think the biggest issue would be wearing the 54 for a long time (a week or more) and then putting back on the 58, I could see not wanting to wear the 58 anymore as it would be a watch that looks almost the same, but is larger LOL. (especially if its the black 58). For me, I have the blue.. so that maybe enough of a difference. I am still not sure what I want to do.
I just picked one up yesterday. It's smaller in person than I expected... but it's not too small. But it is small for a diver especially.
I have the BB58 blue and Pelagos 39.. still need to see the size in person to decide if im adding it to the collection.. thanks for the video!!
I had the opportunity to put this on my wrist and it exceeded my expectations. Great little watch, feels good on the wrist and doesn’t feel as small as you think. Would I buy it, no, I personally prefer the new burgundy and a little weight on my wrist. But this is a great addition to the collection whole collection.
The lug to lug length, which could be the most important part in terms of sizing, is not small at all and not significantly reduced as compared to the BB58.
Comments on the 54 are interesting only because they are EXACTLY what people were saying about the 58, they made a watch nobody asked for but everyone praised despite being a big step back design wise imho.
There no doubt it’s an amazing looking timepiece, would I sell my bb58 and replace it with the bb54 🤔 not really. The aesthetics of the bb58 with the rose gold look and vintage inspired warmth and at 39mm is and will always remain the ultimate Tudor. Another great video Harrison . 👌🏼
37mm would work for me if I wanted a dive watch. The releases I like are the BB31, 36 etc. with in-house movements. I'm considering a blue BB36.
Great video Harrison.....as always!

Absolutely gorgeous watch! Really like the way Tudor is heading, they do really listen. The BB54 doesn't seem too small to me. Problem is I already own the BB58 79030N-001 which is too similar, If I had a blue one I would've tried this one for sure.

It looks really nice and the size is fine with the lug to lug length. I think it's good that smaller watches are coming into style and I think this following that trend. Kind of prefer the look of the Longines Hydroconquest better, but this may be a higher quality watch overall. Not sure.
Tried on a Royal with the salmon dial this week in a Tudor boutique, first day in . Lovely dial but the fluted bezel is too much bling for me. Available in three sizes I believe.
What are your thoughts about the snowflake hand? Always tempted to get a Tudor… but I can’t get past those hands 😢
THIS. WATCH. IS. SUPERB! I'd hope to buy one if I wasn't a happy owner of a 58...
BB58 at 39mm case is actually perfect, they just need to make lug to lug shorter, simplify the dial/bezel design and redesign (overhaul) the bracelet, i.e. no rivet and better clasp (as in BB54). And we have a winner.
I tried it on in an AD, and side by side with a 58, I felt it was too small. Not really the watch case, but the dial layout, fonts etc.
Some says the explorer 36 is too small, some enthusiasts say it should be 36, but as mass market tell us, 39+ is the trend for modern mass market, as we see they are offering 40 mm explorer just couple years after they killed the 39mm
... I've just recieved my CW C65 Dune GMT LTD Edition and that's coming in at the sweet spot of 38mm pal.
Making this watch is a smaller size is a smart move. It will appeal to a huge portion of the market. If they had made it first, before the 41mm, I'd be less happy. But having it in more sizes is a good thing.
will this clasp fit on the bb58?!
37 is fine as 39 is. The gold accents are breaking it for me but overall it will sell like the 58 did and that matters (not if I don’t like it ;)) Will buy the steel 54 anyway though.
If I had the money, I'd buy one. However, the Australian dollar is weak, so I'd would not come in cheaply. 37mm is the perfect size. Great video and review. Kind regards Rikki
I managed to try this on today and it looks amazing on my 7.25 wrist! It’s a beautiful watch.

Nice one tutor for releasing a 37mm case. Love it. I’d love to see the Mercedes style lollipop hour hand like they had on the 76100. Add in the rose and smiley auto winding on the dial, takeaway the faux rivets and you you’d have pretty much my perfect watch
I like it. Will it replace my 41mm Sub no date?
I thought it would be just right but having compared it with the 58 and Pelagos 39 this afternoon, for me, the 54 just looked tiny and I have small wrists.
How do you think this would look on a 7inch wrist?
Tudor are killing it .
Here in PH yes its 38c and yes you def need the tfit
No the rubber strap needed to be a tropic one. Other than that the only thing I’m not sure about is the sunburst dial
As always sir!! Good lad.
This is the Black Bay I’ve been waiting for. Now if only it were in blue…
all depends on your wrist size....it might get very popular in asia, many small wrists over there
Def not too small . . . Modern trends have just forgotten what used to be considered normal + lots of people would buy this immediately for a better fit.
I love the watch. The only thing i dont like is the bezel. I prefer the ceramic bezel, gives a more luxury vibe to the watch like submariner. Thats the only reason i am still arguing whether to buy it or not.
To me, it's perfect. It's not too fussy. It's just...a beauty. As a woman, I'm so happy to see so many 36 and 37 options this year.

@@lovinglife419 Welcome to this hobby of spending lots of money chasing time! I tried on the 36 in steel with blue dial. I think it wears better for me than the BB54. I currently wear a BB58 & Rolex OP 36mm with tri-Arabic blue dial & fluted white gold bezel. The Tudor 36 comes so close to perfect in comparison to my Rolex. The specs are great.
It's all personal preference, but by no means does it look too small on you. I'd actually argue that this is the right size for a slim wrist like 5.5-6.5inches. I'm an averagely built guy at around 210lbs, 5'11" and a 7.3inch wrist, and I prefer watches around 38-42mm. It all comes down to what you prefer, but a 37mm watch is right for almost anyone. Heck even a 36mm Explorer I with its lack of a diving bezel, fits almost anyone perfectly. That said, me for my wrist, I would definitely go with a BB58, or a Pelagos 39.
I own a black bay 36 TUDOR. Love the watch. The only downside in my opinion with TUDOR Watches are that they are too thick
Interesting you clarified waterproof, not water resistant. Is that what Tudor claims?
I don’t have big wrists but I’m fat. I was leaning towards the pelagos 39 just because this might look to small on me
Nah, the lug to lug is still pretty long for a 37mm, so it wears much larger (just like my BB58 to be honest). I have seen it in person.
It's too small for me but it's definitely a fantastic piece.
I'd would buy a new watch always on a bracelet and purchase a strap afterwards. Thank you for this extensive review.

It is quite amazing that a few mm can make a difference. Is it just because we are just watch snobs? Would any normal person care about this minute diff in size? 😅😅
If Tudor adds the T fit clasp to the 58, my black bay gmt will go on the sales block.
Why do you wear it on your hand ?
From what I gather, men are wearing down and women are wearing up at the moment, so this is more a unisex watch for me. Then again, my 41mm BB is as small as I'd go, on my 7.5" wrist.
37mm....Asian market? Been thinking of Pelagos 39 for my daughter.
His wrists are 6.5in He calls it "a small, dainty watch" Is it too small for a normal sized person? Probably.
Ceramic case version & a ceramic bezel ❓
I have the Tudor Ranger and size is okay for me at 39 mm. Watches are all unisex now anyways and 2 mms is not that much but would be better on a female wrist. Excellent presentation Music intro the clear speaking with no back ground noise. Too many youtubers ruin videos with talking over music and my ear goes straight to music. I always miss the message.
It's perfection for me.
I dont think it's that small. Yes, it might be small per diver watch standards in a medium to big wrist, but it doesn't look that small if you see it as a small watch overall. It looks good, like a PRX.
Shame the supply/demand is currently bonkers. Not even the boutique in Glasgow have one to try on - nowhere in Scotland has one to look at for now.
The 58 is still arguably the best overall dive watch for the majority of people. Golden sizes and specs. It's a bit of a killer because once you get one. No other dive watch really compares. Even the ol' subby is chunky by comparison.

I don't know that many people were asking for a smaller diver than the BB58, but obviously there are fans out there. I'm just thinking of the Longines Spirit 37 and wondering how much smaller the dial would be with a dive bezel on what I already consider to be a small watch. Regardless, it looks like Tudor has done a bang up job on execution. The move toward a rubber strap option and T-fit is great. My AD rep was a bit surprised and said he wondered who they were targeting as he did not think it would sell well, at least in their store (U.S.). I am loving the new 41mm Black Bay diver changes, especially the reduction in thickness and more bevels on the side of the case. The in-house one before was just too thick for me. I wonder when they will come out with other variants such as black (and please give us an ALL blue version, Tudor!). I suspect they limited it to burgundy at first due to ramping up on the whole METAS thing at scale. The next question is, when will we see all these great refinements (bezel, crown tube/crown, bracelet/strap) refinements in the BB58 line? That and they really should release more BB58 versions in steel.
@travisharrisphotography

LOL, the AD's are so funny. Every time I walk in, I know more about the watch than they do. It's so sad. Also, the edge on the BB58 is a lot more "grippy" than the new 54. I know, the spacing is bigger on the 54 but its polished. When I stood there at the AD and compared mine (58) to the 54, the 58 was much, much better to grip and turn vs the 54. Dont get me wrong, the 54 is great and not bad.. but the bezel edge on the 58 is objectively better grip and action 100%
