Moved here from Houston and absolutely live the city. Traffic is like a vacation because it's a breeze compared to Houston. No hurricanes or tornadoes. Appreciate all your information but I personally don't have anything bad to say, so far at least, about Tucson😊😊😊

Great to hear this since I plan to live there soon after suffering from the bipolar, humid, weather of Austin, TX. I just love the predictable, dry desert heat/air and mountain views of southern AZ ever since I was a kid visiting my relatives there.

We are very predictable! 😁 We are also dry year-round, (although our summers bring monsoon rainstorms so we get some humidity then; but nothing like Austin). October through most of May is PERFECT here, June is hot, July and August we get rain so we have some humidity, September is hot, October is perfect again ☺️ Tucson would be happy to have you!

I appreciate your honesty and as a realtor you must be honest. After living in Tucson since 2012 you are spot on about some of the negative issues.. I am always amazed how many people use backpacks everywhere. I lived in Picture Rocks and downtown a few blocks from the University and a couple from 4th Avenue. The homeless and crime issue near 4th Ave. is a major reason why i moved away.. my car broken into numerous times and the constant panhandling gets to you after awhile. Not to mention the trash I had to pick up every morning... I blame the Mayor and Police Chief directly for these quality of life issues that are not just about people down on their luck but drug addicts and mental health patients ... If the city stopped being a sanctuary for them your job would be a lot easier.... People should not have to get "used to it " and accept it.

Certain part of Tucson have definitely changed, some for the better and some not so much. I’ve been here almost 40 years. There are certain areas of the city that are absolutely gorgeous and others need work, just like all cities. Thanks for checking out the channel!

Wearing a backpack is not an indication of homelessness. If you don't own or use a car you would use a backpack to carry your stuff you use while away from home. Not using a car is a good thing. It's good for the environment and decreases traffic congestion. It's good for you physically and emotionally to walk or bike around. And it's even better to work it into your everyday life such as to get your groceries or go to and from work. In which case you'd probably have a sizable backpack to carry your groceries or laptop or work tools or layers etc. If you see someone with a backpack maybe its a good thing.

Another wonderfully informative video! Highly recommend this channel to folks wanting to learn about Tucson, all the good and the not-so-good. For newcomers to the area these videos allow us to understand local issues much faster than we would on our own. Highly recommend Kimberly for her practical and ethical guidance as a real estate agent! Plus love the family “photo bomb”. 😂 great video Kimberly!

I completely agree with the never ending construction and the shitty roads too. I've lived in Tucson my whole life except for the time I spent in the Army and 6 months I lived in Flagstaff. But the absolute worst thing about living in Tucson is the snowbirds. They can't drive they are rude and entitled for the most part. Other than that I love Tucson.

I disagree, I'm from Jersey and now live in Tucson and most of the native Tucsonans are the worst drivers! Look over next time you're at a red light, I bet there's someone staring at their damn phone Instead of paying attention. We may drive a bit more aggressively where I come from but at !east we're not indecisive

I definitely won't be "avoiding" Tucson and still have my sights on buying property in the Tucson area. Pretty much every city in the US can have a "top reasons to avoid" video. The mountain scenery, desert sunsets, scenic drives, parks, low humidity, hiking, low maintenance landscaping, beautiful desert vegetation / cacti, and no hurricanes outweigh the negatives about Tucson for sure! Can't wait to visit Tucson again and the state of Arizona soon! 😎🌴🏜☀🌵

So helpful, thanks! And, you're absolutely right about other cities experiencing similar crime. Downtown Minneapolis is not terribly safe at night and the University of MN also has lots of crime. I work there part time and get the alerts and just today there was an alert about two shooting suspects this afternoon. Glad I work at home! I'm off to view more videos 🤗

Terrific video! Loved staying at the Flying V Ranch years ago. To get there you go thru the Loews Ventana Resort parking lot and turn at the two hay bales. Got funny looks from locals asking where we're staying. HaHa Also loved Tohono Chul Garden & Cafe. Would love to see the night-blooming Cereus there. Also El Charro Cafe's world-famous Carne Seca! Awesome!

New to the channel and wanted to share my 2 cents on rattlesnakes. Yes! Take that threat seriously! I let my guard down 9 years ago while out picking up seed pods from a mesquite tree. Reached too close to one hiding under an Oleander bush, and TAG! It bit me on the ring finger. No rattle before striking; just sitting there deathly still. Their markings make for good camouflage. Their bite makes for a couple of rough nights in ICU!

Kimberly - You're spot on a lot of those issues. I grew up in Tucson in the 60s and early 70s. Graduated from Catalina in 72 and went East in 73. I've been back every 4 or 5 years since then to visit Mom, (who was also in RE in those days,when home ranged from $15,000 to a high of maybe 70 or 80,000). My last trip here was in the early 2000s when I convinced her to sell her business and come back to MD with us. In 2018 my wife and I decide to come here for retirement and only decided on Tucson, (Green Valley) over the mid-Atlantic coast of Deleware and Maryland because of the cost of a home there, (Tucson and vicinity is easily 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of living back East!). My biggest regrets coming home are many of what you list, but not all. #1 - Roads - Hell! I don't think they've done a bit of road work since I left! 2020 would have been the BEST time for the city to work on them since there was NO traffic to consider, but apparently, they didn't figure that out... One project of note I observed was a resurfacing of Ajo between Palo Verde and I-10. WHAT A MISERABLE job they did! I think perhaps the Mayor's Bro-In-Law got the bid... I'll be interested in what happens to Oracle Rd., which reminds me of a bombed-out runway. (And, traffic is horrible! MOSTLY because the voters in Tucson voted DOWN creating cross-county freeways - IMO, you get what you ask for... That's why I'm in Green Vally now) #5 - Crime. This is a problem in ANY city. I spent a lot of years on the streets of DC and the rule is to stay away from where you're a target and if you find yourself there, don't appear as a victim; Head high and confident walk. The drug, homeless, and unemployment situation is (IMO) pretty much the same as it was in the 70s, just more people. The best way to avoid being a victim is to secure your home and car. Most crime is opportunistic and you just don't need to set yourself to be a victim. #4 Trash. MAN-O-MAN. This town/city has become a mess, worse than I ever saw back in those days. I think it's a pride thing. Many of those who dump their trash anywhere they see fit simply don't give a sh*t. The stacks of trash you see are usually in certain neighborhoods and certain parts of town. There doesn't seem to be any pride in their environs. I think some of the businesses in the areas should be PRESSURED to participate in the "Adopt-a-Highway" program. Schools would be a good place to start to enlist weekend volunteers to help clean it up. #3 - Critters. A large percentage of the people who have moved here have had little to contend with except flies and mosquitoes. THIS IS THE DESERT! Get used to those critters and stay out of their way and don't invite them with your trash and open doors. I and many of the indigenous folks LOVE the wildlife and don't b*tch about it. #4 Social Issues - When I left in the 70s Tucson was also a destination of Homeless Snow Birds. Where else can you live on the street year-round? What I have noticed is Tucson Social Services seem to be FAR BETTER than many parts of our country. For many months in 2019 & 2020, I drove a ParaTransit Van for the city. What I saw were MANY people who are taken care of by state and federal programs that helped these people survive and live the best life possible. But, there's still a large group of homeless living down by the river and under over-passes. (Strange story: I met a lady who had exhausted all the social services in the county she lived in California, Sonoma County - Her social services rep suggested she go to Tucson AZ, they'll take care of you!) #5 Real Estate. When I first came back I decided to get my RE license. What I soon found out is that inventory was below 2500 and there were 8000 licensed agents. Worked at it only a couple of months and quickly realized all I would be doing is paying the various fees to the state, Board, and my Broker... So, I decided to help the community and drive the paratransit van. I'm at the point now that physically can't do it and am now fully retired with The Green Valley Grin... Roads and trash definitely need a lot of attention, especially in certain areas (which not coincidentally also happen to be the same areas with the highest crime and the highest homeless population). Overall Tucson in the surrounding areas are beautiful, The food is delicious, and the people are friendly and from all walks of life, and if residents stay out of the less desirable areas, they should be fine. You should show your council what streets look like and how you can connect them so people can drive from one side of the city to the other.

Our roads are bad here 😕

I was born and raised in Tucson and Your "6 month" estimate on road construction is very conservative. I would estimate that the average Tucson road project to be around 2 years. Just like many of the drivers in Tucson who drive below the speed limit, the road crews 'work' like there's no need to get things done. I don't know if there are too many projects at any given time, workers milking the clock or if it's due to poor city management but this has been an issue for DECADES. Rats can be killed, snakes can be relocated, but endless road construction?!? Grrrrr.

You’re probably right… Six months is probably conservative… There are some areas of town under construction and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a single worker on the roads! 😆

Kim, before I even watched the video I was thinking "this person is a tourist and knows nothing about Tucson". As soon as I started watching and you stated you were a native (like myself of 47 yr) I knew you were going to be honest. I adore Tucson and honestly I cannot think of anywhere else I would rather live but as you stated it's not a perfect place. When I started to think about what I did not like about Tucson construction was numero uno forme as well. It's almost like the cannot figure out if they want to widen, shorten, single-lane or double lane the roadways when the real construction should be on the pot holes in many of these neighborhoods. From one native Tucsonan to another, (I’m 41, so we’ve been here almost as long and we’ve seen most of the same changes), I absolutely love the city but there are some things that I’m like “what are they thinking?!?!” 🤣 I get a lot of really negative comments on this channel about this city, and I know that those comments are primarily from people who live in certain areas because some areas are worse than others… but I drive so much in the city with my job so I see a lot of parts of town and this city isn’t perfect and it needs some work. Enjoy you videos, thanks! I'm trying to move to Tucson from rural Illinois and the real estate prices are absolutely insane. As a middle aged person from somewhere that isn't a furnace, I can't imagine living in that climate without a swimming pool and/or air conditioning and a garage for my vehicle to keep it out of the sun (and away from all the people who are likely to break into it)...but right now you can't touch a house with all 3 of these things under $350k anywhere near Tucson. I could easily find a dozen homes with those parameters here and they would all be 1000sq/ft bigger. What really gets me, however, is that my exact same job pays only an extra 10k in Tucson than it does here! All that Colorado, California and PNW money that moved to AZ has really created a cost of living issue out there and left unchecked will have some really negative long-term consequences for the area's middle class... Short story - you better be deep in the 6 figure income range if you want more than an apartment-sized house 6 inches from your neighbor with a carport (if you're lucky) and dirt yard.

This is coming from a tourist and honestly there is nothing I'd avoid about Tucson. I feel at home while there and there is not much of a difference regarding your list and what's going on in my city. Especially construction. Like wasn't that being fixed the last time I visited? I live here. It's super hot... I would avoid it here unless it's winter or some cool time... And that only lasts 3months Max. The rest of the weather is summer almost all year long. I rather live in Texas but..... Because I don't drive a car a girl with just legs in a huge city doesn't work out so I am stuck here... Oh I miss Texas... But Tucson has always been home... Even though I hate it here

I've been here since 95 and I hate it. The people are terrible here, just awful, the crime has gotten worse (for theft we are one of the worst in the country) the trash, graffiti, homeless, prostitution, drugs.. all just getting worse and worse, including our leadership. My wife won't let me move us because her family is here...but if I could I would leave this dump in a second.

New to this channel, have watched a few of your videos now, & absolutely love your honesty about Tucson. I grew up in Tucson, moved away in '95, going back often to see family, & friends. Now, thinking about moving back, parents in there 90's, & late 80's. Did move back temporarily to the West Valley (Phx) living with my dad for 7 months. Housing prices are crazy, but as you said, that's everywhere. Absolutely love the 49th state, breathtaking, but in the words of Rafiki "It is time". Hmmm. Full circle, come "home"- GO CATS!- or have the best of both? Keeping you in mind if I decide to buy in Tucson. So much I love about Tucson, but if one's never been to Alaska, highly recommend it! No words, especially if you love the outdoors!! 💜 Thank you for these awesome videos!

We moved form Orange County 4 years ago. Always planned to retire to Palm Springs….but there’s really no a lot to do there…. Tucson minus Covid offers a lot….opera, symphony, concerts, a Broadway season. Theater. The list goes on generally driven by money, demographics and the U of A. Tech and a lot more job opportunities are happening. Tucson International airport and 100 miles from Mexico and Phoenix. Check out the demographics by zip code…age, income, education, owners vs renters…..much to offer. I would advise not being attracted to a property by x bedrooms/baths, pool, garages….alone. Some areas have crazy affordable deals…but it may not be where you really want to live. Great channel. Thanks.

Should we avoid Armory Park when looking for a home in Tucson?

Armory Park is close to a lot of cool things. However, the most important thing is that you explore and really get to know the area and feel comfortable there, and always study crime statistics before deciding on a place to live. I like the website neighborhoodscout.com/az/tucson/crime. It has a very helpful crime statistics map that should teach you more about the area. Good luck with the home search!

Hi Kim, I had one other question. Its a little squimish, but is there a relatively large cockroach problem in Tucson? I heard its an issue in that area and Phoenix.

In my opinion I wouldn’t say that they are a “ problem,” but we do have them here especially certain times of the year. For people who are concerned about any type of bugs, I recommend reaching out to a pest control service and getting on a monthly or quarterly program where the company will come out and spray for bugs on a regular basis. Still, the very best thing that anyone can do to prevent bugs inside the house, is to make sure that all cracks are sealed up on the interior and exterior of the home.

I escaped California back at the end of the 80s and moved here. Back then the air was far cleaner, there were not a million people in Pima County and the city had fewer idiots running it. Their mismanagement nearly cost us the gem show, they drag their feet at any real road improvements. Look at how long it took for the overpass at Ruthrauff to be built. But here's the biggy. We pay the highest property taxes in the state. The filthy little tax and spend idiots raise my taxes consistently every other year or so. I'm going to get out as soon as I can. The Tucson I loved is dead.

You are not imagining it--some road construction lasts literally years. I would add one more big "con" about Tucson: its very poor road maintenance. As a road cyclist, I *love* how bike-friendly Tucson is (lots of bike lanes, very aware and respectful drivers), but the condition of many or most of the roads is enough to rattle your teeth out of your head! But, like you, I absolutely love Tucson and am so grateful to live here!

Worst delayed road repair of any city ever lived in. Wonder where the tax dollars of ourhard earned monies are winding up. Have taken theopprtuniy of calling the city many times. Who cares there; see they’re taking excellent care of the rich neighborhoods & not the rest of us.

I moved here from Chicago in 1987. Yes the area has changed since I relocated here, but it's still the only place that I want to live. We can find negatives about every urban area in the US. I've lived Northwest from the beginning, and have never seen a rattler. I have seen a couple of bull snakes though. Scorpions and pack rats, yes they are around. I've had a few scorpions in my home from time to time, but never been stung. My size 13 shoes are a perfect solution for them! 😂

Rita/Vail area too crowded. Try getting home during rush hour. Everyone go North to marana and towards Phoenix.

Totally agree about the road construction. Seems like if a road needs work, they schedule all the alternate routes for work at the same time. Recent upgrade of Ina at I-10 when they decided to redo the only other northern alternative, Cortaro, at the same time, for example. As far as wildlife, nothing compares to packrats for making life here "interesting".

They’ve literally been doing construction since I moved here 27 years ago! No joke! It’s never stopped! I’m convinced it’s just for show because I never see anyone working I. The areas and it’s set up for months and months sometimes years- and at the end I’m like what exactly was done here for months upon end? There’s no difference

I've lived all over the nation but grew up on the East coast. Moved out to AZ in 2011, but lived in the Tucson area since about 2016. Just from my observations: 1. I think the issue with crime, social issues, and roads are all linked to the rather dysfunctional city council. They just don't seem to know how to spend tax payer money appropriately. 2. This in turn makes Tucson not an ideal place for businesses to set up operations. The only way for the average person to make a good amount of money seems to be related to the Defense industry. Although many people that move here seem to be already retired, so maybe that's not as big of an issue. 3. I will have to say that even though road construction is less than ideal in Tucson, I find AZ generally pretty good compared to places like PA or VA, where road projects will take YEARS to complete. 4. Housing prices are even higher in the Phoenix metro area, Tucson has a tendency to lag behind in that regards. Traffic isn't as bad either, being a smaller city. But the way Tucson is laid out, going North and South is rather easy because of I-10. But going East or West can be a hassle. Good points overall though.

Been to Tucson numerous times but 2022 for first Gem and Mineral Show. It's a bucket list event as we are nature freak rock collectors. Other than traffic, anything else we should be warned about? 😁

Roads that have been under construction for 6 months? That's an understatement. Valencia and Kolb took years.

As beautiful as Tucson is, there is one thing about the roads that is very annoying and that being with the way many of them were put together. You feel continuous bumps as your driving because of the way they've got the roads sectioned. I've never seen this anywhere else.

1. 100% agree, having lived in 7 other places , Tucson is the worse for road management and road construction. 2. Crime: simply was not aware so not sure, never have felt threated on our adventures. 3. ??? 4. Trash. Again, have not noticed… certainly have seem some, but relative to rest of country seems on par 5. Critters. Yep, was a learning curve for us, certainly for a young family moving in need to consider, in other places simply kick kids outdoors to play, here a bit different, kids need to be smart. 6. Social Issues homeless; yes, have seen this, but certainly not more excessive than other places we have lived and here in Tucson homeless are much better behaved (less aggressive as compared to Alaska, East coast, west coast which is worser where homeless are outright aggressive) 7. Real Estate. surprising ... coming from Maryland, we found Tucson very affordable, and I would push back a bit on good paying jobs, as an engineer I got a great paying job. So could easily afford a Tucson home ( I maintained my east cost salary and moved to a Tucson real estate market. win win)

I live in the foothills near Pima Canyon and bears occasionally turn up. So Tucson does have bears, just not many. Dogs also occasionally get eaten by coyotes and mountain lions which are very common where I live.

True, we do have some areas where those animals appear, especially near our mountains. Coyotes definitely eat dogs when they can, especially little dogs and injured dogs. Large birds do the same with small pets as well.

about construction why do they put up the cones weeks early and take them down weeks late?

Kim, thanks for sharing. This is going to give me a good idea of things to look out for when I move there soon. I'm moving from Washington state. I always knew that crime was high in Tucson, but it surprised me that downtown wasn't as dangerous as I figured (except for the bus station). There's plenty of neighborhoods that I've heard that are not so nice, including out by the fairgrounds, and definitely South Tucson.

I'm from LA... moved to Tucson when I was 15... Tucson H., ABC Tech n PIMA C. graduate. I've worked at a few jobs coming up,@ most notably at Quality Inn on Oracle n Drachman as a Rest/Banquet Manager for 5 yrs. and as an electronics machine operator for an avionics flight mgmt systems co. on Valencia right b4 Alvernon. Worked there for 5 yrs b4 a divorce 4ced my move to San Diego. Worked for Qualcomm Engineering for more than a decade afterwards until my daughter passed from diabetes complications ( she was born n raised a Tucsonan ). I love, love, LOVE California!!! However... I graduated THS and PCC and worked there until I was 37yrs old. 22yrs in the old pueblo... I now have many friends n family and Tucson is my adoptive home. Planning on moving back at the end of 2022... With a big AC in tow... hahaha

i’ve been twig with the idea for a decade to move to Arizona. In 2019 I found a condo studio for 80,000. I thought that was pretty expensive. I started looking this year and I can’t believe what they’re charging for condos and townhouses they’re in the $275,000 range. half of which aren’t even upgraded. It got greedy quick. Some people have doubled prices, if not more.

You are exactly right. You can’t get anything for less than a quarter of a million dollars now in Tucson or the nearby surrounding areas except for some small condos and manufactured homes, (but even those are getting pricey in certain areas). Thanks for checking out the channel!

I agree about the roads! I have no understanding of how they can build multi-billion dollar dorms for students and not fix the craters all around them..some could swallow up my car! I dont think of downtown is that dangerous. Mostly due the crowds and bars on weekends but overall I dont avoid it. I am an Uber/Lyft driver.. the areas I try to avoid are Benson Hwy, Irvington/ Campbell and south of there.. and oracle/1st ave and Grant/prince areas.. people roam all over the streets there.. going to the gas stations in those areas is risky. I did notice how quickly they did Starpass .. to help those going in limos not to get whiplash on their way to their $400 a night rooms..

Born and raised in New York. Moved to Tucson 17 years ago. I love it here. I'm not going to lie it took me a few years to adjust. No where is perfect. I love the beauty of it. Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy hiking and embracing the beauty that surrounds us. Coming from a big city where it's go, go go and never slowing down, Tucson has taught me that there is more to life. Slow down a bit and be in the moment! Oh and I've been stung by a scorpion...ouch lol Another great video 👏👏👏

If you think construction is bad here you've never been to Ohio.... I grew up in cloumbus and just moved to Tucson. There's a freeway in Columbus that's been worked on since I was a kid... Trust me it's so much better here

SoCal home shopper here. You're right, California real estate is absolutely insane. We sold our home because we really couldn't resist, so now we're looking for a retirement home. This $500k business is nuts, our budget is decidedly less than that (half) and most our friends are in the same place. After capital gains we didn't have nearly what most assume after selling a modestly priced (700k) home. We have noticed the prices for homes in Tucson has noticeably risen in just the few months we've been watching (and don't get me started on the interest rates). This video was refreshingly honest though, it really confirmed the trending we had seen (I'm an engineer, wifey is a social worker, we like our stats). The idea homelessness and crime escalate closer to prestigious regions is a problem contiguously, nationwide. As is a trending escalation in elder fraud within more affluent areas. The only other location we've visited to explore was Las cruces and yeah...meth, just lots of obvious meth use. So we go to Tucson once a month to explore and figure out where we want to live, yes, with our California cashola. Its so surreal, even our friends don't talk about it....selling your house at such an absurd mark-up, as if speaking about it will make the money vanish or something, but yeah, that's exactly what we did, we bought in 08 (for 120k) and just sold last month and it still hasn't soaked in yet. We still pinch ourselves when the mortgage we no longer have to pay is due, it was SUCH a burden for so many years, its really tough to wrap your head around at first. We still work (8 more years), but we're getting a jump on retirement. Awesome video.

Many people are selling their homes in other places (Cali, Colorado, Seattle, even Phoenix), and moving to Tucson hoping to live mortgage-free… only to find that our real estate prices have gotten pretty high too!!! I think it will start slowing down soon, (not necessarily that prices will drop but I think we will see a decrease in bidding wars). But we’ll see… thanks again for the view and comment!

I love Tucson. They got some thick snowbunnies out here who be caked up, the vibes are immaculate, and there is a decent amount of tourist attractions/activities to do here. My only complaint is that the Mexican food is mid. No shade. It's not the worst. But it could be better.

I have lived in Tucson since a teen (since 1971.) All this "BS" about "downtown being so interesting". Downtown is a hell hole,especially from early Friday afternoon till late Sunday. Downtown is a major "loud cars,motorcycles,rowdy crowds,drinking/drugs area". I feel all those downtown bars should pay a premium to the city as if there was no police/fire/ambulance response,no bar life. Those bars really keep police/fire busy. The downtown bar area has always been a problem. Not a good place (downtown) to live. Extremely noisy (car and motorcycle engines.) 25% of the population of Tucson lives below the Federal Poverty Level. This is 2x the national average. Tucson's most notorious intersection (Grant/Alvernon) is under some kind of constant construction activity.

You have to be from Az to get this one but,...it's so bad in Tucson I fled to Phoenix...lol

Ive lived in Tucson since 97, left for 3 years to P.A. and ran back! Ever since covid happened the city has become Over run with people from everywhere. These newer migrants to the city can afford the inflated housing market, unfortunately local workers cannot keep up the pace. Example ( brother works in coding and makes 40,000 more in base pay for a company in a different state doing the same position than he did for any company in Tucson). This has now forced many local people into homelessness and with nowhere else to turn and our local government officials as corrupt are more inclined to offer solutions like "tiny homes" rather than address wages or other issues just feeds into the problem of trash\drug use\crime ect. In the city. In short, Locals are now being priced out into homelessness because if you can't even afford a studio apartment on a minimum wage ??? What then? It's nation wide but statistics show Tucson rental for 2 bedroom are in the top 10 of the nation currently! To end ill say this. Next time you see trash on the ground, don't just walk by it and think " I didn't do it " take 2 small seconds to grab a napkin, and pick it up, probably a trash can somewhere in eyesight on your way to wherever you are going. Hooray, you and everyone else started doing it... Grand canyon! Erode the trash!

They have bulk trash pickup 3 times a year and we have coyotes and last week I saw a Javelina running past my house and I live in a urban part of the town.

I lived in Tucson from late July 2020 to early February 2021. I had lived in CA all my life, I was jobless, and had an opportunity to live rent free with a friend who owned a house in NE Tucson. So I came to Tucson hoping for a new life, including what could have been a a good job. First, from my perspective, there are NO jobs in Tucson. I applied ruthlessly without any bites. Fortunately, I was able to take my unemployment pay from CA to AZ with me, so that helped for a bit. I had to return to CA in early 2021. A living space became available, and I had a job and helping care for my elderly parents waiting for me. I found NE Tucson, which is more suburban/rural, the safest and most beautiful part of the city. I lived off of Speedway Blvd near Camino Seco, near where the Calvary Chapel is set up. I loved driving through the NE countryside of the city. Having a National Parks Pass, I spent a lot my spare time enjoying places like Saguaro National Park East, and Sabino Canyon Recreation area without dropping any extra money. I also enjoyed a lot of time at Agua Caliente Regional Park. I also spent time with an long time friend who is retired and living in nearby city of Green Valley. During my time there, visited a lot of places near Tucson, such as San Xavier Mission, El Canoa Ranch, Empire Ranch Foundation, and a couple of awesome trips to Tombstone. Did one trip to Mount Lemmon. Also visited Saguaro National Park West. Dislikes: 1) Summer Months June through September - just way to hot. Although low humidity, constant 100 plus degree temps didn't work for me. Spent most of my summer indoors in 75 degree air conditioned home. Thank God!! Come October, it cools down enough to enjoy the outdoors more without frying to death. 2) In general, almost all the road conditions in the city were horrible. The roads need major repaving throughout pretty much the whole city and surrounding areas. 3) Road construction - for me, most of the construction was in downtown Tucson (which I don't like that part of Tucson at all) and didn't impact me personally that much. There was some contruction going on the roads leading to Sabino Canyon, but never anything that impacted my frequent drives. Here in CA, we have a lot of construction that has spanned to the course of several years to complete. Sounds like there is lengthy construction going on in Tucson as well. I find that any part of Tucson South-West of the streets Wilmot and Broadway are very sketchy as far a crime goes. I probably wouldn't want to live in AZ at all, mostly because of the summer heat. But Tucson is a cool place to visit for maybe 2-4 weeks, during the non-summer months. I will be back to visit friends at some point. I did make a few friends in Tucson. All nice people too. Different vibe from CA.

Thanks for the view and comment! Glad you liked the people you met here and enjoyed many of the places you visited! I’m not sure what field of work you are in but we actually have a lot of jobs here in the different trades (construction, HVAC work, electrical, plumbing, even pest control), and of course lots of work in the medical professions, tons of work in the tourism field (hotels, restaurants, spas, etc), but we don’t have many major companies based here, although Raytheon and the university and Davis Monthan Air Force base employ a ton of people. Even the Amazon warehouses employ thousands of people here now and pay $15-$18/hour plus benefits for full time. 2020-early 2021 were during the height of the pandemic so that was a tough time to be here, (or at least I thought so). Even Mount Lemmon was on fire so we couldn’t escape the heat like we usually do in the summer 😩 Plus 2020 we had a nasty drought and all time highs. 2021 we had much more rain and that helps cool off the desert. I hope you get to come visit again soon when the weather is nicer and now that things are opening up again! Thanks for checking out the channel! 😎🌵☀️

@@TucsonArizona I work in Customer Service, like "in an office" customer service. There are little to no jobs there, at least none that would hire me. So, my take is, if people won't hire me, then there are no jobs for ME.
