I like your attitude and honest review. In semi-arid Australia, I ride with Motoz hybrid rear and BigDaddy front. What a paw print. Had a few dry leaks from lack of use. Use a similar approach to double the valley. Biggest tip, keep your seal by riding more often and chatting on forums to experienced riders. Thanks

Nice review Tim ! I had lots of rocks stuck in the back bead lock last KOM like you pointed out. Amazing how your front tire stayed on top of the sand on that small dune and didn't sink in like my front did. This is the review that will be making switch to TuBliss for the extreme trails I like..... Way too many good things about this setup and spot on commentary by Tim as usual !

Good info, I've been ogling the tubliss for a while, I think when I get an FE350S I may go that way, but for now I think my 500 will get some HD Michellin tubes and motion pro lite rimlocks and a balance job.

I just picked up the tubeless system think it will be great ...the at81 I have had problems with the bead breaking during a whooped out national enduro Dunlop replaced it free thaught it was just a uncommon problem but now two of my friends have had the same problem..great tire hope they fix it ...

Thanks for the info. My rear keeps going flat with the tubless and motoz hybrid. I'm hoping it's the tape/ liner issue you pointed out.

At came from big bear Cali, funny I think your talking about 1N16 from Seven Oaks to Sky line 1N09 really nasty trail. Up threw the other side of the lake to 3N09 what a breeze heading to 3N17 and beyond to Apple Valley all sandy hills. On 600R Honda did about 150 miles dirt in three days, reminded me of Baja back in ‘1983.... yea reall 1000 mile race craziest ever with 3 fatalities in the first couple days of pre run, am going to try Big Horn mountain backside of Kaiser plant.

Thanks for the electrical tape tip. That likely happened to me a few years back. I'll give it a go next change. I've gone tubliss and can't even think about tubes again. My friends did the moose thing (some thick gel solid inner tube). I think that's less maintenance and lower technical requirements but heavy as heck. I don't mind being the outlier in my group 🙂

I do think Tubliss is the way to go! I’ve done moose bibs, ultra heavy duty tubes and Tubliss. Tubliss done right is a great way to go! Double bead lock and able to run lower pressers in the technical terrain is a game changer for traction! The. New tape is really good and the electrical tape isn’t required! Lol I’m doing a new video tomorrow on the updates! Thank you for taking the time to comment! Cheers!

Two Wheels I’m doing a spare wheel and found some pvc tape that covers the width in one pass! Will do a video on to show how it installs and will follow up with how it held up with the next tire change.

I'm just starting with Tubliss on my Husky 501 due to frequent flats. At first installment the front lost pressure after 30 minutes from a small opening where the valve was glued in, the rear worked fine. I figured it was just bad luck and the dealer here in Thailand send a new tube free of charge. At second installment of the front the tube again kept pressure for 30 minutes and then went flat with a 10 mm tear so now I'm a bit worried about the durability of Tubliss. I ride in jungle as well and have to be able to fix a problem with carry on tools. A tire problem is an easy fix with a tire plug but I will probably need to carry and old-fashioned tube as backup if the Tubliss tube gives up on me. I'll give it a try more and use the tip with electrical tape and Polish the rim and spoke nuts. In the two rides I have made with Tubliss in the rear with 5 psi it has been really great for traction compared to 8 psi in a tube so I hope my beginner's (bad) luck on the front will end at third try.

The electrical tape really helps! I buy tires that are capable of 0 psi with he tubliss system. Look at the Motoz brand. So a hole in the tire is no problem to keep pushing forward in the trip. I have also added a half of a bottle of slime for auto and atvs. I put the slime in after all is mounted and seared. This really helps with slowly loosing pressure. On my dual sport I can stay at 3.5 lbs front and rear for well over a month. It would be hard for me to go back to tubes ever again!

Tim - Thanks so much for the electrical tape tip! My rear rim has a bunch of what looked like light corrosion or something (rough patches in the metal) near some of the spoke ends, so even after sanding I was really worried about things sealing up nicely. Once I put the 3 strips of electrical tape on the rim, it was clear it would make a MUCH better seal! Once installed, everything held air perfectly the very first time. No reset necessary. Cheers.

When all is smooth on the rim I have had no issues with Tubliss and I now how over 10k miles on 3 bikes. The electrical tape was a great piece of mind for me!

I put the slime in the low pressure side after I inflate the high pressure side. I put 1/2 of a bottle of the slime that made for autos that has a slightly thicker consistency. New video on this today! Hope this helps!

Great tips, Tim! Thanks for sharing! I put Tubliss on almost all my bikes and I love them. Some of my Tubliss are likely first generation and the last ones installed are second gen. I didn't install them myself so I am unaware of what improvements are on 2gen. What I have noticed is, that during longer periods of no use, the air pressure in the Tubliss doesn't hold. After refill to correct pressure, it holds throughout the whole vacation (2 weeks). Does this happen to you?

+J.A.C. Chefen On my Dual sport bike I tape the inner valley like I talk about on the video and runs 1/2 a bottle of slime for auto. I check my tire pressure daily and notice the ones in my Dual sport hold air for weeks. On my 300 witch was the first bike I did doesn't have the electrical tape in the inner valley (yet), I loose a couple of pounds over night. I'm not running any slime in it. Lesson learned...Tape the valley with the supplied rim tape, run 3 beads passes of electrical tape, and 1/2 bottle of automotive slime for tubeless applications. This is how I will do all of my wheel from the start!

Hey Tim, do you use the Tubliss method of mounting with soap and water squeezed into the bead and still use slime afterwards? Wondering if the water will evap so I can add slime as I used the soap and water method.

They now give you a lot of tape and call for 3 wraps instead of 1. I ran them on my old bike but just sold it and got a new one so I ordered another set and noticed that change. Haha I wonder if your issue is why they changed it.

I really haven't had a problem with the high pressure chamber other then a sharp edge chaffing threw the high pressure tube. The electrical tape mad all the difference. What were you thinking Thomas? May be some extra protection?

I was thinking that way, Ride-on saved me on the street when a piece of rebar punctured the rear. Allowed me to pull over 5 miles after I heard the "pop". Run it in both chambers, ( when I figure out the right amount for the high press. chamber, I'll remember to post it here.) Cheers

Im not happy with the tubliss. I am a desert racer and this is my 2nd ride on the tubliss. I was running a brand new AT81 tire with the inner high pressure tube at 100psi and the low pressure at 12 and I got a pinch flat. Usually when i get a pinch flat on UHD tubes I know what I hit to cause it. On this tubliss i got one and was not sure when it happened until i felt the rear tire was half way flat. It did stay on the bead which was nice.

so are tubliss Gen2 good for on-road riding? can i install them on my CRF250L for example? or they are strictly for off road use.

I do believe the are for off road use only! I have been running them with 100% great results on my Dual Sport bike and love them! My riding with my Dual Sport is no more than 10 % on road and 90% off. I now have about 3500 miles on them and there great for traction and not having to carry a spare tube!

What your opinion on the use of tubliss system for the dual propose? Top will be just around 90 to 100 kmph. Is it have any issue on that for speed and heat? need your recommendation on this.

Suden rajbhandari Although the manufacturer does not approve of running the Tubliss system on the street I have done it in three other bikes with around 10000 miles combine time with the system indoor sport mode. I understand the only issue can be heat but I run 8 ounces of the slime product for tubeless tires. That keeps everything lubed up and actually works to cool the system too! Although it’s not recommended I’ve done it with zero failures!I i’m currently running it on my one bike concept That I use from everything from Enduro cross to adventure rallies. No failures on any terrain! Take your time and attention to detail when your mountain everything up and I would think he would have no problems!

Mostly we use our bike for everything from off road to on road. And roads in Nepal is also not so good in quality. I use crf 250 rally for my daily use. so, I am looking for the product which will be very useful for not getting flat in wilderness. And please tell me how can i use a lube in my tibliss system?

@@sudenrajbhandari9158 The lube I refer to is the Slime. Its a great lube and will help seal small punctures. They make 2 different kinds, one is for tubes and has slightly smaller chunks of rubber in it and the other is for ATV tubeless type tires! The second one I prefer but whatever you can get your hands on will work. If you do get a puncture like a hail it makes finding the puncture easy too! For fiction a puncture like this a Automotive plug kit works great! Hope this helps! If not I'm here to answer any of your questions!

I have one friend running this set up with Tubliss! Soft carcass but still works great with the Tubliss system. The only down side is you may need to repair a flat instead of being able to just ride the flat out with a stiffer carcass. The Shinko 505 works great! If you decide to go this route give us some feedback when your done.

Yes! Make sure when you pull out the tape you let it relax a bit before sticking it down.I do three times around! Still no problems to date with this system! I Love it! Hope this helps! Cheers!

I don't thing you will have any problems with it!

I spent the last 4 hours trying to get the darn front tire on and its impossible! The new gen tubliss has such a much thicker red carcass, the tire wont budge it. I get the tire on one side easy, then the last 6-8 inches the tire just wont stretch without damaging the tire. I have done the install exactly to the letter per their instructions and video. Everybody only shows a rear tire which is easier since the drop center part is wider than on a front tire. I can put the tire on with just a tube fine, but the red inner liner is just taking up too much room.

+dieselworld Are you using the metal shoe that guides the tire down into tire? What tire are you trying to do? To make things easy I usually do my tire changes in the afternoon with the new tire setting in the sun for a couple of hours. I now can do a tubeless change quicker the a standard tube. So far my tires on the tubeless system have been the Motoz 90/100/21. This is a big tire so it is easy for me. Late now, but I will do a video on how I do a front tire. I wish I was more help. Nothing worse that firing a tire for hours!

The issue is on the very last 6 inches of the tire being mounted and finished. I can easily get the rim in the tire and the first side bead on then 80% of the second side. I actually used c clamps to squish the tire down opposite of the unseated area and I got it on. I just talked to Jeff at Nutech and he said the tire I am using is the second worst to mount due to its design. Now the problem is getting the tire back off the rim. My tire spoon keeps snagging the red liner and I cant seem to just grab the tire bead. I do have it sitting in the sun right now....

Most of my tires are 90/100/21fronts. I just did a Dunlop AT 81 and i went on OK but not as easy as a larger front tire. I would stay away from anything on the smaller side.

watch my video I do a front tire. Front tires are much easier than rear tires... especially 19inch rear tires. You most likely aren't lubing the rim/tire well enough. Use a silicon spray not soapy water.

That electrical-tape rim protector looks remarkably similar to mine with nothing more than one layer of gaff followed by one layer of Gorilla tape. The gaff tape makes it pull off relatively clean and the Gorilla tape is tough shit. Super cheap. I can do dozens of tire changes for a couple bucks. As far as Tubliss... lol, whatever. Always some gimmick that still can't compete with the top spots in racing.

I rode my tubliss with a flat rear tire and the tube wore through the red outer part and was down to the cords. It's destroyed.

I would run 110 psi in the high pressure chamber and would start at 4/5 psi in the low chamber. The Golden Tires have a softer carcass so you may need to go up from there.
