Cegorach is an interesting character, as he is the ONLY remaining Eldar god. All the rest are either still unborn (Ynnead), shattered to fragments (Khaine), a prisoner of the Chaos Gods (Isha), or were slaughtered the day Slaanesh was born. Imagine what must be going on through his head. He before was the most intelligent Eldar god, but spent his intelligence on mere playful mischief among the gods and their worshippers. Imagine what happened in his mind the day most of the Eldar were devoured, and all his friends shattered, taken, or devoured as well. Imagine that intelligence, one to rival or possibly even EXCEED that of Tzeench, turned from minor mischief towards the protection of what few Eldar remain, the destruction of their enemies, and the ruination of Slaanesh. Think about that, and understand why Cegorach laughs. He laughs because it's funny. He has spent millennia setting up this joke, the ultimate joke, on Slaanesh. His anticipation of the punchline of this, his final, greatest joke, is too much to hold in, and so he laughs because he can't. The time of the punchline is nearly here.

Oddly enough, getting into warhammer 40k has helped with my problem of always taking everything so damn seriously. I think that it's because even though the lore is super dark and serious, there's very often a funny or amusing side to it. It's helped with me seeing humor in annoying situations. Or maybe I'm just becoming a Harlequin.

Orks are comedic. They speak funny. All you need to do to win is to be the most intimidating thing in that battle.

As the song opens, I picture desolation. Ruin. Everybody is dead, dave. Then, with the accordion, we sense that things aren't quite what they seem. Someone is still alive. The song picks up. A flash of colors over open graves. Yes, someone is very much still alive. Still whole. Still free. The last free god of the Aeldari. And boy - he's got a real grand show to put on.

Given he’s managed to last as long as he has solo against the Chaos Gods, I’d say he’s easily the greatest of the Eldar Gods. Also that the Harlequins are one of the few subjectively good factions in Warhammer 40k

@@connormclernon26 Cegorach was never specifically stated to be a powerful member of the pantheon. That goes to Khaine and Asuryan. He's survived this long due to living in the Webway, where nobody can find him, and by simply being clever enough that Slaanesh will never catch him. It also helps that if he ever does come under major attack, he's basically got the entire Eldar race at his back, who will be absolutely PISSED if Slaanesh tries to eat the last functioning member of their pantheon.

I imagine his whole story 'till the end of times, where we see at the beginning the birth of Slannesh, the eye of terror appearing, Eldars being consumed, the Gods slained one by one, Cegorach hides and watches Khaine been beaten as he tries to escapes to the Webway then, we see him lonely, remembering the horrors of the recent events, then, a burst of laugh, a laugh where, he can't contain, where he just thought of all gods, he's the only one that survived, the paria, and he knew he would be the one who would do the best prank to unveil to defeat Slannesh. We see him in the dark Library, writing fanatically his last mischievous plan to be blossom slowly through the upcoming millennials.

Being funny isn't a matter of being clever, or a recitation of wordplay. "Funny" is a way of viewing reality itself. Something is funny when it is unexpected, when you look into the mirror of the world just so and perceive a distorted reflection of what you meant to see. People look at the 41st Millennium, the grimdark, the endless war, and don't think they see anything funny. Their faces set in the mask of a frown. They cannot perceive that it needs no punchline, because it serves by existing as its own punchline, the same as any other form of humor. They cannot see. But Cegorach *does* see. He looks at their frowning masks from the other direction, and this reality becomes something...funny.

People see only the violence one brings to another in the name if what they believe. Thing is, they are a million and one punchline just waiting to happen. The death jesters could see it.

They say that every Saturday night, without fail, the Emperor, Tzeentch, Cegorach and the Deceiver get together with drinks and snacks and sit down to enjoy another thrilling game of paradox poker. The very epitome of trolling, dickery and awesome in all it's glory, the game is an intense battle of wits to outfuck your opponents until only one remains. Since it is impossible for a point of space to maintain it's form with so much concentrated just as planned in one spot, they create a new sub-reality to play their game in every week. However, since the reality collapses very quickly, no-one ever truly wins at paradox poker and the intent is more of having a good time with some bros and keeping their minds sharp. Should anyone ever actually win...it is likely the known universe would implode on itself...

Emperor, Tzeentch, Cegorach and the Deceiver are the guys always there, on occassion they invite Creed, Eldrad, Vect, they tried inviting Trazyn once, but it resulted in him trying to steal all the cards for his collection.

Remember, this is one of the only unambiguously GOOD GUYS in the setting

This was easily the most striking scene in the episode as it was genuinely unsettling the music made it so much more so. Top notch work. you should feel proud.

I'd be the first to call myself "Elf Racist" in just about every fantasy setting, yet the more I learn about this guy the more I start liking him. He's the perfect fit for (potentially) the most intelligent being in 40k. Knowing how much pain, war and suffering the galaxy has experienced, and likely will experience in the future, Cegorach still laughs. That he laughs is wayyy more concerning than any other response; a perfect piece of psychological horror to top off the grimdark IQ chart.

Good job Alfabusa and Failsnake. You made clowns terrifying again. Cegorach is genuinely unsettling and a threatening character to even look at. Kind of like, if your existence didn’t amuse him he’d make you do so, and considering what the Eldar find funny... well, that could be comparable to horror.

'Comedy' didn't initially mean lighthearted, or even funny. In the most ancient form of the word, 'Comedy' was any story with a happy ending, no matter what happened along the way. Cegorach is quite ancient himself.

The jester god, feared and revered by all, For when he laughs, it echoes across the stars, For when his laughing ends, We do as well.

Cegorach's to me is the most HAUNTING entity in all of 40k. And yes, that is A HIGH FUCKING BAR. Like @GuukanKitsune was saying, he seems to see something that nobody else does, know something unbeknownst to THE ENTIRE GALAXY, something so hilarious that he just can't even. And that is the most haunting thing: what could he possibly find funny in the dark universe of the 41st millennium? And it's not like you can dismiss him like any crazy person. Like any mortal reduced to madness by the horrors of the galaxy. He is one of the MOST INTELLIGENT entities in the Warhammer 40k universe. This is not a broken mind, on the contrary. It's the mind of someone in full control, in control of strings so thin to go far beyond anyone else's sight, that even literal GODS can't perceive. In my mind, any sane mind would crumble in terror to the horror of 40k. But if you asked Cegorach, he'd answer that is not scared. He is amused. Confronted with all the hopelessness, the death, the horror, the eternal void, he can't but laugh. Whilst witnessing the hardest of struggles of heroes and villains, he laughs. While watching forces capable of crashing entire worlds and galactic civilization in the palm of their hand fight each other, he laughs. No matter if evil or good prevails, he laughs. No matter if people, innocent or guilty they may be, live or die, he laughs. For this entire existence is a joke, and at the end of all things, of existence itself, he is the one in charge of delivering the final punch line.

I got the feeling that the only reason that Cegorach hasnt killed all of the Chaos pantheon yet is because he finds the war hilarious, I mean, this guy fucked up the C'tan with his mind games, I honestly dont think Tzeench stands much of a chance against him.

What's your point? Having both versions would be amazing. The non-Seinfeld part is just absolutely chilling and terrifying and perfect for what it is. The part with it fits the intended context and character very well.

Ever since I used this in my dnd campaign for my main villain (A knockoff Cegorach with flesh powers), each time I listen to this, I can’t help but have the urge to laugh maniacally. Cegorach would be proud XD

I know this is prolly old news by now but hunter: the parenting's intro being named "ha hi ha ho" made me realize that "ha hi ha ho" already was a common leitmotif throughout TTS's soundtrack, this one included...

As much as I appreciate the Seinfeld part, I gotta admit, I'd like a just pure version of the first half. Because gosh dang it builds suspense and badassness perfectly. Then again, its one of your works, so I guess I shouldn't be suprised.

The Joker and Pennywise have nothing on Cegoragh. For one he's Chaotic Good, which is hard when your job as a god is schadenfreude. For another in this series he seems to be the God of Goes Around Comes Around, very much like a certain time lord.

Funny thing is Laughing God like the rest of his bretheren did not approved the degeneracy his people fell in for millions of years since he knew it would come to bite them in the ass. Then he saw his people , his family and everything he ever loved turn to ash , find the strenght to laugh and being the most intelligent being in the damn galaxy currently plotting the end of Slaanesh and save EVERY SOUL SHE HAS EVER CONSUMED not just the Eldari. The guy is pretty benavolent by everyone's standards.

Two kroot are eating a Harlequin, one looks to the other and says "Hey, does this taste funny to you?"

2020’s theme. Starts ominous and ramps up to more and more sinister tones, leveling off with a slight break then back into the storm. And of course it ends with a laugh!

I love the eerie, disjointed feel of this tune. Great work. Very fitting for an ancient dark Jester deity.

From 0:36 onwards you can hear the choir from the Jackal God theme. I almost didnt notice it but then again it makes sense as the clown and deciever are best buddies.
